Eco Factor: Zero-carbon house to be powered by solar and wind energy.

Manchester United star Gary Neville is planning to build a country home almost entirely underground, which the locals have already christened as a second Teletubbyland. The £8m house will look like a luxury eco-bunker in the heart of rural Lancashire.

The house will be designed by Make Architects, who believe that built into the hillside the house enables the surrounding moorland to seamlessly flow across the roof. The flower-like arrangement has petals as rooms from a central kitchen to areas designed for relaxing, entertainment, work and play.

If the plans are approved by the Boston Council, the 8000 sq-ft bunker will boast the latest in green technology that includes sourcing energy from solar panels, wind turbine and a ground-source heat pump. Renewable energy produced by the wind turbine will also power Neville’s neighborhood property and all excess energy will be supplied back to the national grid.
