If you’re like me, and many of the BlackBerry users I speak to regularly, you might be looking for an application that can help you manage files, both locally and remotely. There are a few options out there, but over the weekend a friend pointed me to a Gadgetwise post about Cortado Workplace. It’s a cloud-based file manager that provides you with a gigabyte of storage, which you can browse using the BlackBerry application. The application also allows you to access the files stored locally on your BlackBerry, allowing you easier access to your own files.
The biggest selling point, as you can see in the accompanying screenshot, is the ability to print documents over a wireless network. Of course, finding a wireless printer can be an issue, but as the technology becomes more common the application will have more use.
In addition to basic file management functions on your BlackBerry, you can also access anything in your Cortado cloud storage via your PC or notebook as well. Users get 1GB of storage, with a maximum 3MB limit per upload. This can be difficult for large PDF files, but it shouldn’t adversely affect most normal document usage.
The application is free, so it’s worth a try. You can get Cortado Workplace at App World. Make sure to check out their website too, for more information about the desktop application. According to the Gadgetwise article the company plans a premium offering this summer, which will allow users to eschew the file size limits and more cloud storage.
