It won’t be long before BBGeeks turns three years old. In those three years we’ve changed a lot, but all along the way we’ve shared tips and tricks for better using your BlackBerry. In the coming weeks and months we plan to revisit a number of tips from our fledgling days. Instead of just reprinting them, though, we’ll expand on them a bit. For instance, take this quick tip from back in 2008: BlackBerry browser shortcuts. We’ve done a number of shortcuts quick tips, and this was among the first. The full list after the jump, with a bonus section: how to view and copy web addresses in your browser.
If you want to view a site’s web address, press the P key. That will bring up a dialog box like the one you see on your right. You can see the address and site description, and can copy the address or send it along. If you choose to copy it, it will, obviously, be sent to the clipboard. If you choose to send the page, you’ll get a follow-up dialog box, from which you can choose your message medium (sms, mms, email, bbm, etc.)
Here are the rest of the browser shortcuts:
H: Home screen. You can set this by hitting the menu key in your browser and selecting Browser Configuration.
G: Brings up the GoTo screen, where you can enter a web address, use a search engine, or see your bookmarks and recent history.
A: When on a web page, press this to add to bookmarks.
K: List bookmarks.
R: Refresh page.
Escape: Goes back a page, or stops a page from loading. If you hold the escape key, you’ll quit the browser. Otherwise, hit the End key to leave the browser running in the background.
