My husbands Dr told him to keep upping his insulin dose by 2 units for every day he was over a set amount. That is, we think that is what he said, we are getting fuzzy on the instructions.
Anyway, 3 days ago he had Fasting BG 108 took 40 units lantus. Ate low carb, just about the same thing each day and the next moring his Fasting BG was 118. We upped the dose to 42 and today he had Fasting BG of 129. Is there a direct correlation there? The more we increase the insulin, the hungrier he gets, the more he eats on into infinity.
We want to control this by diet.
We ate coffee w/heavy cream (before the insulin)
8 AM insulin
9 AM 2 scrambled eggs with a 1/2 tablespoon of wheat bran
10:30 Hot water with lemon 1 cup
1:20 kidney beans and 3 ritz crackers
3:20 checked BG – 144
2 Tablespoons of peanut butter (no sugar kind)
6:55 burger with 2 teaspoons ketchup & spinach
9 PM checked BG 101
9:30 1 cup of chicken meat from a roasted chicken (It was from the deli and VERY salty)
10 PM 1/2 cup all bran with cream
We are working as hard as we can to bring the numbers down and it is frustrating.
Only change in the day’s activities is that we stayed home and did nothing.
Regards,
Janice
