Eco Factor: Punggol to be converted into a renewable energy powered eco-town.
Singapore’s Housing and Development Board have planned to develop Punggol as the first eco-town to help it achieve its goal to grow in a green way. Punggol will serve as a testbed for new ideas and green technologies.
Promoting the concept of “Green Living by the Waters” in Punggol, renewable energy in the form of sun and the wind will be harvested to provide electricity. Moreover, rainwater will be tapped to reduce freshwater demands. Cycling paths and charging stations at car parks will be built to aid the growth of an electric car network.
