NEW YORK – The Canadian investment firm that paid US$1.68 million last year to win lunch with billionaire investor Warren Buffett has collected its prize.

Buffett dined with Salida Capital officials at the Smith and Wollensky restaurant in New York.

The proceeds from Buffett’s annual charity lunch auction benefits the Glide Foundation, which provides social services to San Francisco’s homeless and poor.

Salida Capital paid less than the previous year’s winner who plunked down US$2.1 million to meet with Buffett.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Buffett said the group would discuss a broad range of topics. When asked for specifics, he joked: “Pay a million seven, and you’ll find out.”
