What better on April Fool’s Day than an anonymous email app?

Hopefully when you read this, relatively early on April 1, no one has yet played a practical joke on you. It’s April Fool’s Day, the time every year when people try to pull ruses ranging from the simplistic to the overly complex. If you’re one who likes a good prank, well, then maybe you’d be interested in an application called Email Anonymously. It does just what the name implies, allowing you to send emails to any address without any way to trace it back to the sender. It’s the equivalent of making a prank phone call with caller ID blocked!

Hopefully it’s clear that this is more of a joke app than anything, and while it’s fitting on April Fool’s Day it really isn’t worth the cost. In fact, when I first saw the cost, $4.99 per month, I thought it was an April Fool’s Joke itself. But no, it’s totally serious. Which, of course, makes me think that they’ll get a couple of orders and then see no one renew for a second month.

Then again, maybe some people have a use for an on-demand anonymous emailer. After all, the developer lists a number of scenarios in the description, including the ability to rat on your fellow citizens. Still, $5 per month seems steep.

If you think $5 is a reasonable price for a practical joke, you can get Email Anonymously here.
