All over your BlackBerry, in nearly every native application, you can navigate quicker using shortcut keys. We’ve gone over plenty of these in our previous BlackBerry quick tips. There are home screen shortcuts, browser shortcuts, message screen shortcuts, and many more. In fact, I find it a bit frustrating, sometimes, when I try a new application that seems like it should have shortcuts but does not (including some Twitter apps). I noticed that in the message screen tips, we didn’t cover shortcuts within the message. So we’ll go over that, and then add to the message screen shortcuts.
Inside a message
When you’re inside a BlackBerry email, you can use the following shortcut keys:
R: Reply
L: Reply All
F: Forward message
I: File a message in a folder
Q: When your cursor is over a sender or recipient, this shows their email address
T: Top of message
B: Bottom of message
S: Search for text within a message
G: Move the cursor to the last position in a received message
On the message list
In addition to T going to the top and B going to the bottom…
Alt + U: Mark a message read or unread
C: Compose message
Alt + I: View received messages / incoming calls
Alt + O: View sent messages / outgoing calls
Alt + S: View SMS logs
Alt + P: View call logs
Alt + V: View voicemail
U: Scroll to the next unread message
J: Move to the next related message (in a Re: thread)
K: Move to the previous related message
N: Next date
P: Previous date
To exit any specialty screen (SMS, received calls, etc.), hit the escape key. You can scroll down a page by hitting space, or back up a page by hitting Alt + Space.
