Eco Factor: Sustainable luminaires designed to run on solar energy.
3XN has designed sustainable LED luminaires for Bella Center in Copenhagen in conjunction with the upcoming UN climate conference. Dubbed the Gotham, the street lamps are the result of a close co-operation between 3XN, Scotia Lighting, EWO and a number of other partners.
With a goal to create sculpture and a CO2-neutral street-lighting solution, the designers came up with LED luminaries that are powered by solar energy and actually generate more energy than they use. Seven lamps have just been installed at the Bella Center, which work in conjunction with the mast to form a very sculptural expression – with a veiled reference to the lamp’s futuristic LED technology.
