Highlights include:

Two weeks, two outages. That’s not good news for RIM. Their customers depend on them for reliable email service, so when that gets knocked out for multiple hours in two out of 14 days, it’s a problem. They traced the latest outage back to a vulnerability with BBM, and ask that people upgrade to 5.0.0.57. Get it at blackberry.com/messenger.

RIM also reported its third quarter results, much to the delight of their investors. They had a stellar quarter, selling roughly 10 million units. That’s excellent for a slow time of year. Could their fourth quarter be even bigger? We’ll find out in a few months. Also of note: over 80 percent of those 10 million were activated on personal accounts.

Finally, is the BlackBerry the best idea of the decade or worst?
