  • Hydrogen Powered Truck for Sale

Now, how often have you seen a classified ad that says, “Hydrogen Powered Truck for Sale”? My guess would be never. But, that is exactly what this is.

Over the weekend, I received an email from Dan Greenberg  and he says he is selling a hydrogen powered truck.

Dan Greenberg, according to his Linkedin profile, is the former Director of Engineering and Product Development for a company called Hydrogen Power Incorporated. Dan says he was able to get his hands on this prototype vehicle when the company went under.

Under Greenberg, one of the techs used aluminum and water to generate H2 as I have outlined on my hydrogen on demand page. But, according to Mr. Greenberg, the hydrogen powered truck for sale has all the trimmings to run gasoline, compressed natural gas (CNG), compressed hydrogen (H2) or a blend of H2 and CNG (hythane) so the buyer will have many options. He currently runs the vehicle on CNG since there are no hydrogen fueling stations in his area of the country.

Here is some more info about the hydrogen powered truck for sale supplied by Mr. Greenberg:

  • Is Global Warming Man Made? by Girma Oressengo, MASc, PhD

CO2 is known to be a heat trapping greenhouse gas. The theory of man made global warming assumes that the CO2 in the atmosphere (about 0.04% of air) that has increased due to use of fossil fuels by humans has been causing global warming.

In science, the method used to verify the validity of a theory is to compare the theory with actual observations. To verify the theory of man made global warming, we may compare the change in CO2 in the atmosphere to change in mean global temperature during the same period.

  • Employees Losing Faith in Work, Finding a Higher Calling

The only thing harder than finding a job in this economy is finding one that you like, according to a recent survey that found only 45 percent of Americans are satisfied with their work.

Now the team behind the hugely successful Alpha course hopes to help Christian business leaders losing faith in work … to find a higher calling at work.

Planned for 16 cities in four regions throughout the U.S., Alpha’s Workplace Faith Gatherings will kick off in Dallas, TX, on February 23, then will continue to Charleston, SC, on Feb. 24.

These half-day events will feature talks from top business leaders, including Lou Giuliano, former chairman and CEO, ITT Industries, and popular author and speaker Os Hillman, founder and executive director of Marketplace Leaders.

Topics will include “Leading From the Front: Living Out My Faith in the Workplace” and “How Do I Make This Work? Connecting and Growing With Other Christians in the Workplace.”

“The Bible mentions work more than 800 times,” explains Gerard Long, executive director for Alpha USA.

“You’re not supposed to turn off a switch when you leave church on Sunday. God wants to walk with us 24/7 in every area of our lives – especially our work.”

Combining inspiration and practical application, these gatherings will help people to see work as a higher calling.

Long adds, “As people catch a vision for what God wants them to do and be in the workplace, it ultimately benefits society – stronger marriages, increased productivity, more service at church and in the community.”

During the Workplace Faith Gatherings, there will be many opportunities to network with other Christians in the marketplace. Additionally, participants can learn more about Alpha in the Workplace, a 15-session practical introduction to the Christian faith designed to fit with people’s busy schedules.

Does connecting faith and work contribute to job satisfaction? Ask Brad Jeffery.

As vice president of his Chicago-based chemical company, Jeffery offered Alpha at Work as an option for his employees. The results?

“We’d tried every technique over the last 20 years – corporate retreats, open book management, flex-time programs. These are beneficial, but they aren’t sustainable if you don’t have the right attitude and culture,” Jeffery explains.

He says that Alpha was a catalyst in “setting the tone for a culture that expanded the hearts of employees,” leading to community outreach efforts such as growing a garden for a local soup kitchen, starting a youth mentoring program and holding a picnic for a local orphanage.

“As you impact people’s hearts, it transforms into how they conduct themselves and helps them to be more satisfied at work,” Jeffery says.

Thousands of businesspeople all over the world are attending Alpha in the Workplace. Corporate CEOs are holding sessions in their boardrooms. Factory workers are running courses in their cafeterias … the options are unlimited.

More than 13 million people in 163 countries have attended one of Alpha’s courses.

  • Jim Cramer: Markets Will Surge Wednesday If Coakley Loses

On Mad Money Friday, Jim Cramer predicted a huge market rally on Wednesday if Martha Coakley loses.

    Via Newsbusters:

JIM CRAMER, MAD MONEY HOST: We know it’s earnings season. You can no more avoid it than you could avoid getting your report card or worse – your parents getting your report card. You saw that today when people sold the market on allegedly weak earnings from Intel and JP Morgan, emphasis on allegedly. The Dow getting hurt bad, down a hundred big ones. S&P giving back more than a percent. But that doesn’t mean that the most important factor in next week’s game plan is an earnings report. Far from it. Come with me. The number you need to watch is the number that Scott Brown racks up against Martha Coakley in this amazing Massachusetts Senate race. I say amazing ’cause this was supposed to be a walkover. I mean, even a few weeks ago it was a lock for Democrat Coakley. But now everything’s up in the air, and a Brown win would be devastating for the president’s agenda. Let’s put Brown, okay, and I don’t mean UPS which I happen to own for my charitable trust. Particularly on healthcare reform, because Republican Brown has said he will definitely vote against the plan.

Brown in the Senate? That wrecks the 60-vote supermajority the Democrats have been counting on. It could spell the end for this almost year-long nightmare of a piece of healthcare legislation.

What does a Brown election mean larger than this? Well, first you’re going to get a knee-jerk rally in all the so-called penalized stocks — the HMOs, the drugs, the medical device-makers. I call it “knee-jerk,” though, because these stocks have been on fire for months. Look at Cramer fave WellPoint, or United Health. 52 week high. 52 week high. Merck, 52 week high. It’s been clear as a bell that the healthcare reform wasn’t going to affect most healthcare stocks. That’s versus what we thought last year.

More important, though, I think investors who are nervous about the dictatorship of the Pelosi proletariat will feel at ease, and we could have a gigantic rally off a Coakley loss and a Brown win. It will be a signal that a more pro-business, less pro-labor government could be in front of us. Hey, would you say it is more China like perhaps? No, we can never be as capitalist as the Communist Chinese. But how about a little bit less like the old Soviet Union? Yeah, that would be a bit more like it. Pelosi politburo emasculation! Everything from the banks, which are usually in the Democrats’ penalty box, or the oils which are despised by this administration for being carbon, could be propelled dramatically higher all of this Tuesday night.

We really have no idea what the market will do in the event of a Scott Brown win, but we will say this: anyone who’s stil clinging to the notion that “liberal” Barack Obama is damaging the market needs to have their heads checked.

Talk about holding onto your pre-conceived notions in the face of overwhelming contrary evidence. You can slam Obama for decisions he’s made that may or may not hurt us in the longterm. But this idea that investors hate his liberal stance on various things (regulating Wall Street, healthcare, etc.) is just 100% false.

    THE PHYSICAL CULTURE CREED

    We Believe:
That our bodies are our most glorious possessions; that health-wealth is our greatest asset; that every influence which interferes with the attainment of superb, buoyant health should be recognized as a menace.

We maintain that weakness is truly a crime; that sickness is the penalty of violated health laws; that every man can be a vigorous, vital specimen of masculinity; that every woman can be a splendidly strong, well-poised specimen of femininity, IF THE LAWS OF LIFE ARE RIGIDLY OBSERVED.

We believe that the requirements in the building of glorious health are:

First: Pure air and sunlight whenever obtainable; thorough ventilation of living rooms.

Second: Wholesome diet of vital foods, well masticated, eaten only at the dictates of a normal appetite; frequent fasting of a day or two if needed.

Third: Reasonable regular use of the muscular system throughout the entire body in work, in the gymnasium, on the athletic field, or otherwise.

Fourth: Thorough cleanliness, which requires frequent baths—cold baths for a tonic, hot baths for cleanliness—though dry friction with the open hands, brush or towel is also valuable.

Fifth: Internal cleanliness, which is a matter of regular and thorough elimination.

Sixth: Abundant sleep, measured in depth or quality as well as duration; this power of deep sleep being dependent upon sufficient exercise and healthful habits.

Seventh: Right mental attitude; thinking is a powerful factor in maintaining vital health, and can be constructive or destructive. The mind can build you up or tear you down.

  • Prizes for Home-Built Baby Autos! (Jun, 1931)

    Prizes for Home-Built Baby Autos!

IT’S a safe bet to say that at one time or another practically every man in America has built himself a home-made vehicle embodying his own ideas in automotive construction. Maybe it was only a pushmobile made to imitate his favorite car; maybe, as he grew older, he turned out a race car job, or put a racing body on a chassis powered by a motorcycle engine. The longing for a means of mechanical transportation is universal. That’s why Modern Mechanics and Inventions is announcing a big new prize contest in which cash awards of $200 will be distributed among the builders of the most pleasing home-made autos. If you’ve already built a home-made car, all you have to do is take a snapshot of it and send it in, under the rules of the contest. If you haven’t built your car yet, start in at once— you have until August first to complete the job and submit your entry, and the suggested plans appearing on these pages will help you get started.

Prizes as announced in the box on this page will be awarded on a basis of originality of design and workmanship. Cars must be powered with gasoline motors of not more than four cylinders. Autos should not be too elaborate—they should make use of cheap or scrap materials so that other mechanics who might wish to duplicate the design can do so without great cost. When your car is built, send in a snapshot, together with a description of its construction, an estimate of cost and of the speed it develops, to the Auto Contest Editor, Modern Mechanics and Inventions, Minneapolis, Minn.

Now to give you a few pointers on how to build an ingenious, low cost baby car. The drawing on page 104, and on the cover of this magazine, illustrates an aero racer which makes use of the principles employed on some of the fastest airplanes. The body of the car is streamlined, the twin cylinder motorcycle engine mounted at the rear, turning the left rear wheel by a chain drive. Air wheels of the type employed on planes are used; these have the advantage of coming with brakes in the hub. They are practical for small cars, too—on another page of this magazine is an exclusive story announcing successful trials of this type of tires for use on trucks and buses. Soon they will be commonplace on passenger cars. The front axle is streamlined with a fairing and fixed to pivot in its center. Other suggested details of construction are given in the drawing. No dimensions are included, since it is intended to serve simply as an idea which you can modify or adapt in any way you see fit.

The drawing on page 105 shows another small car with a one-lung motorcycle engine, employing a different type of drive, a belt being used. This enables you to make use of an old style motorcycle engine in which the belt drive was popular. The wheels are motorcycle type, the front ones with brakes in hub. The left rear wheel requires the addition of a flanged pulley to accommodate the drive belt.

Steering gear consists of a wheel, a drum or bobbin, and a few feet of stranded steel cable. Four pulleys guide the cable from the drum to the front axle, as shown, so that the wheel winds and unwinds the cable around the drum and thus rotates the front axle on its central pivot.

Springing of the car is simple, an ordinary motorcycle spring being used for the front axle, and the rear one making use of airplane shock cord. The body frame follows airplane practice; it is really a fuselage. It can be covered with fabric, doped, or a plywood finish can be used.

Most motorcycle motors are equipped with kick starters, and with a little ingenuity you can arrange the starter so that it operates from a pedal in the cockpit.

These suggestions will no doubt bring a score of others to your mind—so get busy and send in your entry! Remember, it has until August first to reach us. There’s no reason why that $100 prize, or one of the smaller ones, shouldn’t go to you. In judging the winners, the car which shows the best results from the minimum of expense will rake in the prize money. Get going!

  • Motorola launches Android phone in South Korea

SEOUL — Motorola Inc. said Monday it plans to launch a smart phone in the South Korean handset market using Google Inc.’s Android operating platform, a move aimed at taking on Apple Inc. and market incumbents Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. in the fast-growing market segment.

The launch of a new smartphone in South Korea’s competitive market comes as Motorola has been trying to break itself into two or three pieces to help combat a companywide sales slump.

For almost two years it has tried to spin off its high-profile handset business, which has been without a hit device since the blockbuster Razr phone.

It also comes after Apple Inc. (AAPL) said late last year it will make its popular smart phone, the iPhone, available in the South Korean market through an agreement with KT Corp. (KTC), the country’s biggest fixed-line operator by revenue.

On Monday, Motorola unveiled MOTOROI, Korea’s first phone powered by Android through a deal with SK Telecom Co., the country’s biggest wireless operator by revenue.

The phone features a touch screen with a 3.7-inch high-definition display, helping users easily access Web sites, videos, games and photos, it said.

Motorola’s Korea representative Rick Wolochatiuk said at a press briefing the device would sell for around $800, about the same as the iPhone but slightly more than most offerings from Samsung and LG.

Wolochatiuk said the company is also open to adopting Window Mobile platform-based phones, but didn’t elaborate further.

According to market research firm iSuppli, Motorola was the fifth-biggest cellphone maker in the third quarter, down from fourth place in the second quarter.

As recently as the first quarter of 2007, the company was the world’s second-largest cellphone maker after Nokia Corp.

The executive didn’t comment on its sales target in the Korean market for this year but said the company isn’t currently considering offering its cellphones through other domestic telecommunication firms apart from SK Telecom.

Meanwhile rivals Samsung Electronics and LG, the world’s second- and third-largest handset maker by shipments respectively, are expected to launch a series of smart phones running on the android system early this year.
