Regis & Kelly Stump “Wheel Of Fortune” Contestants [VIDEO]
Good grief…..In one of the oddest turn of events in the 27-year history of Wheel of Fortune, all of the contestants on Monday’s military-themed episode had difficulty pronouncing “Regis Philbin & Kelly Ripa” even after the entire puzzle had been revealed. This is better than the time the dim-witted Wolf Blitzer appeared on Celebrity Jeopardy! Check out the hilarious clip below!

Live Action Skeet Shooter Saves The Lives of Robot Ducks [Toys]
Interactive Toy Concepts has followed up last year’s popular Duck Hunter infrared shooting game with a skeet version that fires off three plastic disks.Since the prototype at CES was not in working condition, there is no way of telling how far or how high the launcher can fire, or how you will score a hit, but I’ll bet the game will be just as successful as its predecessor when it is finally released. Mariah Carey Drunk
My goodness indeed. Mariah Carey was certainly ‘high’ on life winning this award! “Sorry,” Carey told Precious director Lee Daniels at the award podium, giggling madly. “Sometimes I get a little… you know, difficult.”Director Lee Daniels escorted the unsteady MC to the stage and watched in awe as she stumbled through her words, giggled with the audience and hinted that she’d too much to drink. Carey hesitated for a few seconds, looked to the ceiling, sighed and said: “Please forgive me, because I’m a little bit, um …” An audience member finished the sentence for her, to which she replied, “Yeah!” with a laugh.Carey was presented with the prize for her role in Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ By Sapphire, by the film’s director, Lee Daniels.
However, when the singer took the stage at the California event she stumbled through her words, giggling with the audience and hinting she had too much to drink.
Carey turned to Daniels with a bizarre beginning to her acceptance speech, saying, “Oh my goodness! I don’t think they understand the kitten in cotton thing. No we don’t. Ok, I love you.”
Pausing to address the crowd, she added, “I have to say this is – and please forgive me because I’m a little bit um… yeah. Oh my goodness…”

21 iPhone Puzzle Games to Kill Time With
I think I’ve spent more time playing games on my iPhone than I have on my old Playstation, Playstation 2 or Wii. It simply boils down to the fact that whenever I’m standing around waiting in a line, waiting for the train or in a dentist’s office, I can pull out my phone and have a quick game of something. Having a great choice of games in your pocket means you never need to be bored again while waiting around.
Here are my 21 favorite games to wait around with. The key common features for these games are that they’re quick to start playing and that you can achieve goals quickly with available playtime of as little as a minute. There are no long drawn out strategic battles, epic adventures or quests to get absorbed into.
Aztec Quest
Website – iTunes: 99 cents – iTunes: Free
My new favorite puzzler, Aztec Quest requires you to get the ball to the destination utilizing the available gadgets with some great physics based puzzles.

BeeCells
Website – iTunes: $1.99 – iTunes: Free
BeeCells is a simple puzzle game where you need to clear the colors by moving at least six of the same colors next to each other. After each turn, more colors appear and its a race to clear cells before they inevitably fill up.

Aurora Fient II: Arena Daemons
Aurora Fient offers an epic level-upping RPG with multi-player (of sorts) game play, based on a simple puzzle clearing game (matching three or more of the same blocks), offering the same gameplay with different twists, power ups and great sounds and graphics. This gives you quick gameplay wins with long gameplay goals to obtain. Aurora Fient costs $4.99 and is easily worth it in my opinion.

Toobz
Website – iTunes: 99 cents – iTunes: Free
Toobz is a simple pipe game where you try to get the water to the edge. While the graphics are plain, the game play can be addictive and good fun.

Geared
Website – iTunes: 99 cents – iTunes: Free
Geared presents you with gears you need to layout in the allowed spaces to make the required preset gears rotate.

Flood-It!
Website – iTunes: 99 cents – iTunes: Free
Make the screen one color by flooding the pixels with colors in the least number of moves. The flood always starts in the top left and floods all matching colors.

Pocketball
Website – iTunes: 99 cents – iTunes: Free
One or more balls will drop from the top, leaving you to guide them to the correct bucket with ropes attached to pegs.

Gravity Sling
Website – iTunes: 99 cents – iTunes: Free

Northwestern Memorial Expands Radiosurgery Program to Treat Tumors Throughout the Body
New Equipment Offers Focused Radiation Treatment to more Patients in Need
Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the only academic medical center in Chicago to offer Gamma Knife radiosurgery, has enhanced its radiosurgery program by upgrading to the most sophisticated equipment available for treating cancerous tumors and lesions. The new generation technology – the Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion and the Elekta Axesse – uses focused radiation therapy to treat tumors, while providing greater precision and an application for use beyond the brain to other parts of the body.
“When this technology was first introduced, it changed the way we approach brain cancer,” said John A. Kalapurakal, MD, radiation oncologist and co-director of the radiosurgery program at Northwestern Memorial.
“Now, it’s changing the way we approach cancer in other parts of the body as well.”
“The enhancements we’ve made will allow us to use focused radiation treatment, known as radiosurgery, to treat select tumors of the brain, lung, spine, liver, pancreas and prostate, as well as many pediatric tumors,” adds Kalapurakal, who is also a professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Through radiosurgery, doctors focus beams of radiation directly on a lesion or tumor.
Individual radiation beams are too weak to damage the healthy tissue they cross on their way to the target, however when the beams are focused precisely on the tumor or lesion, they intersect to provide a combined level of radiation strong enough to destroy the diseased area.
“Our brain radiosurgery program has been in place for more than 10 years, during which time we’ve seen countless examples of how radiosurgery can benefit patients,” said Robert M. Levy, MD, PhD, neurosurgeon, co-director of the radiosurgery program and professor of neurological surgery and radiation oncology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
“The new equipment will allow us to provide an advanced level of treatment to a larger group of patients, many of whom have inoperable tumors that previously had few treatment options.”
Radiation therapy is used to treat approximately 60 percent of all cancer patients at Northwestern Memorial, with more than 22,000 treatments delivered annually.
Patients treated can be as young as four months old through the hospital’s affiliation with Children’s Memorial Hospital. Northwestern Memorial is one of only a few medical centers in the United States to offer Gamma Knife radiosurgery to both adult and pediatric patients, making it a destination for many throughout the country.
In addition to benefiting a larger group of patients, this modern radiosurgery equipment will enhance patient comfort through shorter treatment sessions while delivering a more precise and accurate treatment.
The technology can also be used to treat disorders beyond cancer, including vascular abnormalities, chronic pain and benign tumors. Northwestern Memorial began using the new radiosurgery technology in January 2010.
“This is a notable enhancement to our program,” said Bharat Mittal, MD, chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University at Northwestern Memorial. “We are committed to providing patients with the most advanced therapies possible to treat their cancer.”

GibbsCAM 2010 Ships With Multiple Enhancements
Includes New Plunge Roughing, Additions to 5-axis and Advanced 3D Machining, Plus 64-bit Implementation
Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM® software for maximizing programming efficiency of CNC machine tools and a Cimatron company, announced today that it is now shipping GibbsCAM 2010. This new release includes multiple new features, additions, enhancements, and productivity tools.
“We have been working very hard to provide customers new functionality across the GibbsCAM product family,” says Bill Gibbs, founder and president of Gibbs and Associates. “We added many capabilities to make programming and machining easier and more efficient, especially with new features in 5-axis and solids machining. We also implemented 64-bit operation to enable faster processing of long programs and complex parts, added support for new tools and tool holders, extended functionality within various modules, and extended and updated interoperability with various CAD systems,” he adds. “All this is in addition to the recent integration of VoluMillTM and making GibbsCAM compatible with the Windows® 7 operating system.”
GibbsCAM 2010 began shipping to new customers and maintenance customers in January 2010.
Key GibbsCAM 5-axis Enhancements
These include more spiral machining options, new gouge check projection options, a new lead in/lead out “flip” option, a new axial shift damp option for trimming applications, and support for countersink and keyway cutters. More specific additions are the following.
Geometry Creation – A Surface Tools plug-in has been added to create surfaces for repairing or improving machinability of surfaces from solids.
Adaptive Cuts – This new option enables regulating the distance between paths based upon the angle of the surface to be machined to provide a consistent surface finish, regardless of surface angle.
Impeller Roughing – Has been enhanced with functionality that covers more contingencies, especially useful when roughing near and around splitter blades.
Tool Retraction – A new option, Retract Through Tube Center, enables retracting cutting tools from angled pockets while avoiding walls, especially useful for machining cylinder head ports and similar geometry.
Key Enhancements to Solids Machining
New, More Capable Plunge Roughing – No longer a plug-in, it is a tile in the CAM palette, with the ability to calculate material removal strategies that accommodate carbide-inserted drills, which require special motion for no-drag retractions, while avoiding collision in tight or narrow areas.
Enhancements to Advanced 3D Machining – These include the addition of Hit Flats with specified tools for Pocketing, the ability to specify flatness tolerance in Flats Cut to ensure all desired “flat” areas are machined, locking high feed rate for Shortest Route and Minimal Vertical retract styles, addition of Trim to Ramp Advance as a Contour option for waterline cuts, specifying surface finish with step-over distance or scallop height parameters, and using Stock Bounding Box as an additional machining boundary.
Addition of Option for Stock – Facet bodies, generated from a previous machining process, or brought in through a data file, can now be used as initial stock in solid pocketing.
64-bit Implementation
A significant development, the 64-bit implementation allows taking advantage of the more powerful, multi-processor PCs equipped with 4GB or more of RAM. This provides tighter interoperability with 64-bit CAD systems that are co-resident with GibbsCAM on a PC. Also, 64-bit operation reduces computation time when processing extremely long programs or working with complex geometry. It will also enable users to take advantage of system enhancements when running under the Windows 7 operating system.
Even More Enhancements
GibbsCAM 2010 includes many more features, some for ease of use, and others to extend functionality, including enhancements to the user interface and for the Milling, MTM (multi-task machining) and Wire EDM modules, as well as new add-ins for data exchange to support Inventor 2010, SolidWorks 2010, and additional CAD file import and translation. Furthermore, the Macros menu was enhanced with changes for easy access, uninterrupted operation, and support for 5-axis and Advanced 3D processes and calls to plug-ins.

DM2® Series C safety valves
ROSS CONTROLS® is proud to announce that its DM2® Series C safety valves have received third-party certification from the BG
(Berufsgenossenschaften- German Institute for Occupational Safety and Health). The DM2® Series pneumatic safety valves meet all global requirements for machine safety and are commonly used for exhausting the downstream air to help meet stop-time requirements in machine guarding applications.
Because many safety systems incorrectly focus solely on the
electrical design and overlook mechanical elements, ROSS created the DM2® Series to address this issue knowing that effective safety systems do not end at the electrical wire. For enhanced performance and value, memory, monitoring, and airflow control functions are simply integrated into two identical valve elements. DM2® Series C valves lock out due to asynchronous movement of valve elements during actuation or de-actuation, resulting in a residual outlet pressure of less than one percent of supply.
Overt action is required for reset, and reset can only be accomplished by applying a remote air signal or by energizing the integrated electrical (solenoid) reset. These ROSS safety valves are base-mounted and are available in ¼” to 1-1/2” ports sizes with NPT or BSPP threads.
Additionally, all DM2® Series valves will be labeled with the CE (Conformite Europeenne) mark to comply with the New Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) that takes effect in the European Union as of December 29, 2009.
This directive defines the requirements for the CE marking of products, requires the CE mark on safety components, and specifically includes “…valves with additional means for failure detection intended for the control of dangerous movements on machinery.” The “Declaration of Conformity” document is available on the ROSS Web site at www.rosscontrols.com.

Ken Block dropping trademark Subaru for two Fords
Filed under: Motorsports, Ford

You know Ken Block as the star of those Gymkhana videos, which have made this corn-fed American rally driver an internet celebrity on YouTube. Usually seen whipping his trademark Subaru WRX STi around an abandoned airport and through empty hangars, Block makes the difficult task of rally driving look downright easy. From now on, however, you’ll be seeing him do his thing in a Ford rather than a Subaru.
The 42-year-old driver announced today that not only will he be driving Fords from now on, but in addition to competing in the Rally America Championship and X Games like always, he will also compete on the rally world’s biggest stage: the World Rally Championship. Block will reportedly be the first American driver to compete in WRC, and to get the job done he’s formed a new rally team with sponsors Ford, Monster Energy Drink, DC Shoes (the company Block co-founded), the video game Dirt2 and Castrol Edge.
What will Block be driving in 2010 if not a WRX STi? He’ll be behind the wheel of a Focus RS prepared by M-Sport for the WRC and Ford’s new rally Fiesta when off-roading in America for the RAC and X-Games. We don’t know which Ford he’ll drive in the next Gymkhana video, but rest assured because we’re told there will be another.

UFC Plans To Sue Individuals, Despite The Cost Being More Than Any ‘Loss’
There’s something that just drives some executives nuts about the idea that someone might access their content “without paying” directly for it. We saw this last year when music industry execs kept saying they had to stop going to war against consumers, but immediately followed that up by saying that none of that mattered if they couldn’t stomp out “piracy.” It’s as if the second any sort of unauthorized use occurs, the entire “cost-benefit” analysis goes out the window. If it’s costing you more to try to stop unauthorized access, and it’s not working, and there are ways to embrace it that makes you more money, the solution should be simple: you stop worrying and start embracing.
Apparently that message hasn’t gotten through to the folks who own Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Perhaps it’s not too surprising that such a group’s only reaction is to fight, but when they even admit that fighting unauthorized access will cost more than any “losses,” you have to wonder how any executive at the company keeps his job. That’s a recipe for getting fired: “Hey, I’m going to undertake an action that will cost us more than not taking this action — oh, and it’s likely to piss off a bunch of our biggest fans as well.”
This isn’t a huge shock. Last month, a UFC exec was at that Judiciary Committee hearing about unauthorized access to live streaming sporting events, and played the role of the RIAA/MPAA lobbyists claiming “them stealers are destroying our business.” Given that, it’s no surprise that UFC is gearing up to go after both sites like Justin.tv and the individuals themselves. Apparently, UFC’s fight-first, think-later execs haven’t noticed how badly similar plans have backfired. Most of the streaming websites have pretty strong DMCA safe harbor protections, and suing users hasn’t worked out particularly well for the RIAA. Furthermore, pissing off your fans? Yeah, not such a hot move.
Meanwhile, the Torrentfreak article above does a really nice job breaking down just how many people willingly pay huge sums to watch UFC events on Pay-Per-View, and how that number keeps on growing. There was apparently a dip in a recent fight, but TF notes that it probably had more to do with one of the headlining fighters having to back out. What does become clear is that UFC has no problem convincing huge numbers of people to pay up huge amounts to watch its events. Pissing off a lot of fans with ridiculous lawsuits doesn’t make anyone more likely to buy.
Hell, even Joe Rogan, the comedian (and notorious hater of “joke stealers”) who also acts as commentator for UFC seems to think this is a bad idea, saying: “I think that kind of stifles innovation. It stifles the direction the internet is going. I like things being out there. I think people are always going to buy UFC pay-per-views. You’re going to get a much better experience watching it on your television than all stretched out looking fuzzy and pixilated. They’re trying to protect their money, but the internet is a strange animal.”

Toyota Camry Named Best Selling Car of Dec. ‘09, Apocalypse Draws Nigh

Confirming the suspicions harbored by many automotive journalists that the vast majority of the car-buying public has zero interest in vehicles that are actually fun to drive, the Toyota Camry has earned the top spot as the best selling car of December 2009. As if that fact itself were not discouraging enough to end the year on, the even less impressive Toyota Corolla managed to snag the Number 2 spot, followed closely by the Honda Accord (3rd), Honda Civic (4th), and finally, the Chevy Malibu (5th). The singular reason for this, at least by our good friend Timothy Cain’s analysis, appears to be that many consumers value basic functions over frivolous things such as “performance” and “aesthetics.” This would explain the quasi-success of the PT Cruiser.
Surprisingly absent from the elite 5 was the Ford Fusion, which is perhaps the only vehicle outside of a Subaru lot that enjoyed a successful run in 2009. Another notable exclusion was the 2009 & 2010 MY BMW 328i, which despite the brutal recession has been spotted in overabundance in the fetid armpit alternatively known as “New Jersey.” With no rational explanation for this anomaly, RideLust is forced to conclude that we are living in the end times. We hope this scores us mad page hits from those Nostradamus nutjobs.

How to Find a Cowpooling Source
I was going back over the MDA archives this week, thinking about what went right and what went wrong with past posts. There are always going to be regrets when looking at past work, whatever its nature. That’s just how these things work. But this is the internets, not print, and I can quickly hop in and make changes to the past with just a few keystrokes. Or, I can write an honest appraisal of my previous transgressions and come up with a post of restitution. This is that post of restitution. Today, I’m admitting that my last post on cowpooling was a bit lean. It’s not that I trimmed the fat; it’s that the fat was never even there in the first place (hmm, old Cordain might agree). Consider this post a dollop of grass fed butter in the pan that is MDA’s cowpooling content, perhaps even after deglazing all the tasty bits with a hearty Zinfandel. Today, I’m going to tell you how to find a cowpooling source so you can buy grass fed beef in bulk directly from the supplier.
Cowpooling, in case you aren’t aware, describes the practice of banding together with other likeminded, carnivorous individuals to purchase an entire cow that is then slaughtered, butchered, and frozen for delivery or pickup. The cowpool-able cows are frequently grass-fed, local, and organic, and if you’ve got the freezer space, cowpooling is a great way to get quality meat for a fraction of what it’d cost in a place like Whole Foods. There’s really nothing quite like having a freezer full of hearts, organs, steaks, chops, roasts, shanks, bones, and tongues in your home. Whenever my freezer is stocked, I giggle uncontrollably whenever it’s time to pick a cut for dinner. It really is exciting.
Unfortunately, for most people, there aren’t any easy solutions to the cowpool source question. It’s becoming more and more widespread, but it remains a niche market, a small but vocal trend. There are a few concrete, well-run online communities that promote and organize cowpools between members, but they tend to serve distinct areas of the country. From what I can tell, the Bay Area Meat CSA (a Ning community) is the most active, and it isn’t even all that robust or vibrant. Still, if you happen to live in the California Bay Area, sign up and peruse your Group’s page to set up cowpools with other nearby members. Usually, an official liaison is selected, who then is tasked with sourcing an animal, contacting the ranch, and relaying information back to the other members. How well – or how often – this actually works remains a mystery. I happened upon the BAMCSA’s sister network, based in Southern California, and it was essentially a barren wasteland. There were a few half-hearted cowpooling prospects proposed, but no one seemed to commit to anything. I suppose it’s possible there were backroom dealings occurring via email.
There’s also Slow Food USA, an organization devoted to appreciating good, usually local food, including meat. Again, you run into the same problem as with the CSA Ning groups – there are just too many chapters with not enough active members. The link above directs you to find a chapter in your area, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
The only surefire way to find a good cowpooling source is through honest legwork. As always, Eat Wild remains the best directory for US pasture-based farms. Since you’re busy people, I’ve scouted ahead and made a quick list of some farms that seem to support bulk purchasing. There are plenty more, but this is a decent start. All you’ve got to do is get a group of people willing to buy in. Try family, friends, or even ask around on the MDA forums for help.
Alabama: Narrow Gap Farm of Brewton, AL only sells by the 1/2 or full cow, but you’ll have to call for pricing, as it varies by market. Native American Natural Grass-Fed Beef (no website or email – talk about old school), located in Delta, sells only entire cows. Try Dr. Robert E. Steele at (256)488-5661 if you can handle that much beef. At R&R Katahdin Ranch, you can buy whole lambs priced at $1.60 per pound of live weight; email Ron at [email protected].
Alaska: Marilyn runs Faith Farms, located in Kodiak, and she only sells her whole lambs to the person who’s going to be eating it. Email her at [email protected].
Arizona: Dudleyville’s Double Check Ranch offers shares of beef (minimum 10 lbs) to customers. The M Triangle and Black Ranches sell range fed pork by the live animal, and Southern Arizona Grass Fed Beef sells cows in quarters or wholes.
Arkansas: Email Joyce ([email protected]) at Heifer Creek Farm if you’re interested in buying a side of grass-fed beef for $3 a pound, hanging weight. Just give four weeks advance notice. Email Sam ([email protected]) at Hosanna Hills Farm if you want to buy pastured pork or beef by the half or quarter. Or if you’re interested in some range-fed Texas Longhorn, email Thayne ([email protected]) at Old Dallas Ranch in Mena, AR.
California: Drake’s Bay Family Farm does quarters and halves. Holding Ranch delivers bulk orders of lamb and beef to Walnut Creek, CA. Email Jay ([email protected]) at The Rockin’ M Ranch if you want to buy whole cows weighed live prior to shipping.
