POWER TROUGH EFFICIENCY is SAI’s motto, and it has not been chosen lightly. It sums up perfectly the fruitful relationship that has been forged between SAI and ZF Passau, the German specialist for Off-Road Driveline Technology and Axle Systems.
The first transmission was displayed in 2007 during the Bauma exhibition held in Munich after years of joint development work. The individuals involved in this prestigious collaboration, from both companies, have worked hard over the intervening period to validate the project to its current position. The amazing thing is that, even though only two years have passed, SAI and ZF can proudly announce that the project has now been successfully developed to the point that production is now starting.
The new ZF transmission system 2 HC 85 is powered by two SAI integrated variable displacement radial piston hydraulic motors. The resultant package is perfectly matched to the requirements of today’s Market, in that it achieves higher efficiency and improved noise characteristics.
The advanced design features of the SAI motors used in this project, help achieve the highest levels of so called “ENERGY EFFICIENCY”. ZF has accepted the challenge of changing the thinking of the transmission market, usually dominated by axial piston motors, by investing in the radial piston crankshaft design of the SAI motors.
The continuous variable transmission of ZF, which employs 2 completely integrated motors, is able to give: high speed, high volumetric and mechanical efficiencies, reduced power losses, better fuel consumption, reduced vibration and lower noise emissions. What is more, the compact shape of the Hydrostatic Drive Transmission allows it to be extremely adaptable to almost any vehicle design.
As it can achieve speeds in excess of 42 kph, the ZF system is the fastest compact loader transmission manufactured today, which is capable of supporting a load of about 10 tonnes. It must not also be forgotten that, whilst this solution gives superb high speed characteristics, the utilisation of the SAI radial piston design gives remarkably efficient and accurate controllability even when running down to CREEP speeds. Inside the ZF transmission it is this feature of the SAI radial piston design hydraulic motor which makes it the most versatile hydraulic motor available in today’s market.

“Easy going” over the last kilometre
The innovative solution for delivering goods to city centres: the CiTi Truck from Linde Material Handling
Linde Material Handling is bringing its revolutionary CiTi Truck into market in June 2010 — a truck that makes light work of delivering goods over the last kilometer. With a minimum of exertion, the operator can move loads of up to 500 kilograms over considerable distances and manoeuvre in the tightest spaces with comfort and safety. Even verges and kerbs can be negotiated with ease.
The futuristic Linde CiTi Truck introduces a new model classification between hand pallet trucks and electric pallet trucks. It offers a superbly innovative solution to the growing numbers of deliveries direct to city centres. Traffic routing, narrow streets and obstructions caused by parking spaces or kerbs hinder the delivery of supplies to businesses, restaurants, workshops and supermarkets.
Hand pallet trucks, which make significant physical demands on the operator, are usually employed for the final stages of delivery. To transfer the goods from the delivery lorry to their destination, the operator must first raise the forks by repeatedly “pumping” the tiller. The heavy loads then have to be pulled and pushed over long distances using muscle power alone, and the road surface is seldom even. In addition, there are kerbs, ramps or verges over which the load must be moved.
The Linde CiTi Truck eliminates the manual effort and makes light work of these demanding tasks. The lightweight yet robust CiTi Truck removes the strain and stress from the operator thanks to the electric traction and lift motors, combined with the unique load and drive wheel configuration and ergonomic tiller controls.
The Linde CiTi Truck enables faster deliveries and lorry turnarounds for higher productivity and lower supply chain costs.
The compact Linde CiTi Truck is suitable for both smaller consignments and palletised loads of up to 500 kilograms. The tubular structural design of this robust yet lightweight truck results in a service weight of less than 100 kilograms.
The CiTi Truck effortlessly negotiates obstacles such as kerbs or verges of up to 70 mm high. This is due to the unique and innovative wheels, which are designed specifically for this purpose. The large, rubber tyred drive wheel and the two pivot-mounted rear load wheels enables the CiTi Truck to travel over obstacles. In addition, the wheels and rollers minimise noise, a real plus for residents when making early morning deliveries to city centres. Thanks to the lift motor ramps with gradients of up to 8 percent can also be negotiated with ease.

LDH Drive. Our latest special bearing
From the bearing element up to the complete system:
The LDH Drive our latest special bearing
We specialise in made-to-measure antifriction bearings. The end product is determined by the customer’s individual specifications. This also applies to our latest special bearing. With the LDH Drive, Franke has been able to develop a product that fulfils the wishes of our customers for muted noise development at high speeds. 300 rpm and less than 60 dB (A): these figures speak for themselves. Moreover, we have integrated a direct drive into the antifriction bearings – a system solution that will profit our customers in more ways than one. You will receive a complete system comprising bearings and drive and, at the same time, you will save energy – cost-saving and environmentally friendly.
The LDH Drive has been specially designed for use with computer tomography but may, however, be used in other areas equally well – anywhere where high speeds, low noise level or a direct drive is needed.
Even at a speed of 300 rpm the LDH Drive is below a level of 60 dB (A) in airborne noise measurement. Specific improvements to the geometry, raceways and the rolling elements have led to this result.

SPIROL COMPRESSION LIMITERS SOLVE PLASTIC CRACKING IN AUTOMOTIVE VACUUM FITTING
When a manufacturer of plastic automotive engine components experienced problems during the installation of a special vacuum fitting, Spirol Industries came up with a solution based on its compression limiters and their ability to withstand high torque loads and prevent excessive compression of the host material.
The area around the mounting hole of the vacuum fitting, through which an M5 bolt passed, was cracking when the torque load exceeded the specification. Controlling the torque within the required limits was difficult and so it was also not always possible to ensure the quality of the final product as the cracking did not always occur immediately upon installation.
A more robust design was required that would withstand more torque without fear of failure. Most plastics are not able to handle the stresses imparted by the tightening torque of machine cap screws. However, for these types of applications, Spirol Industries has developed a comprehensive line of compression limiters that can withstand the torque loads and prevent excessive compression of the plastic host material.
For such applications, Spirol offers brass series CL 101 compression limiters that can be installed with a Model HP Pneumatic Heat Insert Driver. The heat installation causes the plastic material to melt and flow into the retention features on the limiter which prevents it from falling out and eliminates most internal stresses in the host.
To install the limiters, the operator simply places the moulded part and the compression limiter on a two-stepped spring loaded alignment pin and activates the machine. The heated tip advances, engages the compression limiter, heats and installs it to the proper depth, and then withdraws. The completed assembly is automatically ejected and the process repeated.
The use of SPIROL’s Series CL101 compression limiter eliminated the problem of the cracking of the plastic assemblies whilst the Model HP Heat Insert Driver was extremely easy to use and provided a consistent quality end product.

Watch a Two-year-old Smoking Like a Pro
Ardi Rizal, a two-year-old, smokes 40 cigarettes a day. His father had first given his first cigarette when he was just 18-months –old. Rizal is from Sumatra, Indonesia. Though there have been bribes from the officials to give the family of Rizal a new car if little Ardi quits, it is still far from happening. His mother stated “He’s totally addicted. If he doesn’t get cigarettes, he gets angry and screams and batters his head against the wall. He tells me he feels dizzy and sick.” His father does not see the issue as a problem. He said, “He looks pretty healthy to me. I don’t see the problem.
Seeing the child smoke like a pro may be amusing at first for some but it is very alarming. The child is from a third world country, and this is sad since we see how much their education about health is low. The United States and other countries try their best to put smoking at minimum yet, we see issues such as this minor who is already addicted to smoking and is not yet able to fully understand what this means to his health. You can watch the video of the child below, and leave your comments afterward.

Suggestion: When Trying To Quash A Subpoena To Reveal Your Identity… Don’t Use Your Real Name
There have been plenty of cases where a person or company gets a subpoena to try to identify an anonymous online person — such as in various file sharing cases. It’s also not uncommon for those anonymous internet people to fight the subpoena, and it’s quite possible to do so anonymously. Apparently, no one informed that to one guy who decided to fight a subpoena by Worldwide Film Entertainment over an alleged attempt to file share the movie The Gray Man. Apparently, in filing the challenge, the guy used his real name and address:
Comcast notified its subscriber in this case, one Mr. Simko, of Worldwide Film Entertainment’s efforts to learn Mr. Simko’s identity. And here’s the part that makes this little vignette so charming: rather than challenge the plaintiff’s efforts to unmask his identity, Mr. Simko filed a motion to quash the subpoena USING HIS REAL NAME.
The court denied the motion to quash. The basis for denying the motion is kind of an aside (the motion to quash phase was not the right time to challenge venue or knowledge of the infringement).
What’s noteworthy about the case is Mr. Simko’s decision to voluntarily waive his anonymity. Not only did he challenge the subpoena using his own name, he filed as an exhibit the letter he got from Comcast notifying him of the subpoena. Right there, in all caps and as plain as day were Simko’s name and address for all to see.

Willie Nelson Cuts His Hair, Pigtails are Gone
The iconic American country singer-songwriter William Hugh Nelson is famous for his long braided hair style. Nelson would wear one single three strand braid that would cascade down the back of his head. On other moments, he would wear two braids on either side of his head.Born and raised in Abbott, Texas, Nelson is the son of Myrle Marie and Ira Doyle Nelson. Nelson wrote his first song when he was seven and he played in a local band when he was at age nine.
Fans of Nelson were shocked yesterday as the legendary Willie Nelson cuts his hair.
The waist-deep, reddish pigtails are gone. They have been one of the signature features of the singer-songwriter.
Spokeswoman Elaine Schock said that Nelson, who’s been hanging loose in Hawaii, got the hair cut in the past couple of weeks. She said that Nelson did not make a big fuss about the haircut, but she thought that the makeover was fine because Nelson might have grown tired of dealing with the braided long locks.

Glee Goes Gaga and Gaga love Glee
Glee paid tribute to Lady Gaga during last night’s episode and Lady Gaga gives the love right back. Lady Gaga told Entertainment Weekly, “I love Glee. I went to a musical theatre school, and used to dream that someday the students would be singing my songs.” She also said in her twitter, “GLEE WAS SO AMAZING! AH!!!!” The episode was called “Theatricality” which featured “Bad Romance” and “Poker Face”. Gaga’s most memorable looks were put on by the club’s female vocalists and Kurt that rocked the auditorium with “Bad Romance”. Lou Eyrich, costumer for the show, said “The costumes are not replicas; we want it (to) look like the kids made them. Rachel (Lea Michelle) wears two outfits. The first is inspired by Gaga’s Kermit the Frog dress: She goes through her stuffed animals at home and staples all of them to her dress. The second is like the dress Gaga wore with the big silver mirrored triangle.”However, it was Rachel’s duet with Shelby of “Poker Face” that stole the show. It was a shared final moment between the mother-daughter pair after Shelby came clean about being unprepared for full-time motherhood. Idina Menzel, who played Shelby Corcoran, told MTV “I don’t channel Lady Gaga. I’m just in awe of Lady Gaga.”

Delayed Civic Begs the Question: Has Honda lost the plot? [w/poll]
Filed under: Car Buying, Classics, Coupe, Sedan, Marketing/Advertising, Honda, Design/Style
Honda Civic: A History in Pictures – click above for a high-res image galleryHonda Vice President John Mendel recently admitted to AutoWeek that the next-generation Civic will be delayed from the Fall of 2010 to sometime in 2011. Mendel said in the interview that the Civic was delayed because of tightening emissions standards and he also noted that changing market conditions were partly to blame. AW also notes that the Civic’s design was changed along the way, as Honda’s second biggest selling model was originally scheduled to be larger for 2011. Happens all the time, right? Well, not to Honda it doesn’t.
Michelle Krebs over at Edmunds Auto Observer has taken a deep-dive look at the broader implications of the Civic redesign, and came up with some very interesting points. For starters, Krebs speculates that the next Civic was delayed in part because it wasn’t competitive compared to the new, vastly improved competition from companies like Hyundai, General Motors and Ford. While some analysts feel that the Honda redesign shows that the Japanese automaker is willing to swallow some humble pie and get things right, Krebs counters that going back to the drawing board shows that Honda has lost its touch with the car-buying public. Further support for her theory centers around the lackluster greeting for the Insight by both consumers and pundits, Acura’s polarizing styling language and the love/hate Accord Crosstour and its embarassing social media launch efforts. Analyst John Wolkonowicz of Global Insight appears to agree with Krebs, saying that Honda is living off of its reputation from the 1980s and 1990s.
Where do we stand on the Honda Civic design pushback? We’re thinking that as long as the Civic continues to sell in big numbers with relatively small incentives, Honda is smart to head back to the drawing board, especially as it is still selling strongly five years into its lifecycle. However, we’ve been worried that Honda has been losing its engineering-led focus for a while now, so we’ll be looking to the next-gen Civic for some level of redemption.
Be sure to take our poll and check out our high-res gallery of Honda Civic history before heading over to the Auto Observer for some very interesting analysis.

World Trade Center Mosque?
Ground Zero, Could an Islamic building be build near it?As the reconstruction of the World Trade Center advances a debate is rising, regarding a Islamic mosque that will be build near Ground Zero, the Cordoba house.
Islamic leaders say that the Cordoba house would serve as a sign of peace, how ever many see this mosque as a tribute to the very ideology that caused the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The Islamic group that plans to build the mosque dose not have the funding yet for it, however hopes that the building of it will start is this summer. The Cordoba house project still needs NYC approvals and probably will have a landmark hearing before the construction of it could start.

Apple market capitalization exceeds Microsoft with the advance of iPad
Microsoft stock’s leadership in the technology world is threatened by Apple. At the close of Tuesday’s session, the Apple company had a market capitalization of $ 223,000 million (about EUR 182 300 million) against 228 000 million the company of Bill Gates. During the last minutes of trading yesterday, Apple exceeded its rival. At closing, the capitalization of Microsoft was 219 180 million compared with 222.124 million from the company of Steve Jobs. Both are second only to Exxon Mobil in the ranking of U.S. companies by market value. The oil company capitalizes about 282 000 billion. In this sense, The Wall Street Journal, based on data from FactSet Research, recalled yesterday that when Steve Ballmer became CEO of Microsoft, Apple had a capital of 15,600 million compared to 556 000 million for the software giant. In early 2010, the difference in favor of Microsoft was about 77 000 million.
Thus, the sharp stock market developments throughout 2010 has been crucial in achieving this. Since January, Apple builds an appreciation of close to 17% while Microsoft shares have fallen around 15%. In addition, Apple has outperformed the stock market last shock that is affecting global financial markets. Since mid April, the company Steve Jobs has dropped nearly 7% to 14% of Microsoft.
This trend is coinciding with the progress of iPad worldwide. In fact, the Apple tablet will be launched tomorrow in nine other countries. In the first month in U.S. stores the company on the block sold over a million units.
To meet demand, Apple could decide to raise production of iPad this summer. On Tuesday, the brokerage Sterne, Agee & Leach said the company could produce monthly up to 2.5 million units of its tablet. Currently, it produces between 1 and 1.5 million.
The rumors that circulate in the market suggest that Steve Jobs presented on 7 June, the new iPhone at the meeting with developers planned for that day. By contrast, Microsoft has started a major reorganization of its consumer business, which seems to be losing ground to Google and Apple. Microsoft announced Tuesday the departure of the company of Robbie Bach, head of the Entertainment and Devices division, which includes businesses such as Xbox video game console, the Windows Phone, Zune music player or mobile KIN. It would also leave the firm J Allard, vice president of this division. Bach, who has 22 years at Microsoft, will not be replaced, and those responsible for the areas of gaming and mobile, Don Mattrick and Andy Lees, report to Ballmer, putting the CEO in front of these activities directly.
