The young star Justin Bieber was nominated for Best New Artist in the upcoming 2010 BET award which will take place at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium on June 27, 2010.

The Canadian singer just started with his career as he released his first single, “One Time”. It was amazing that this song reached the number 12 spot on the Canadian Hot 100 during its first week of release in July 2009. The song later peaked on number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100. After this, he had other songs released like “One Less Lonely Girl”, “Love Me” and “Favorite Girl”. Not only these songs made him popular but also his angelic face!

There are millions of fans of Justin out there and who would doubt that he was nominated in the 2010 BET award where in this event would normally award black singers, actors and actresses. Stephen Hill, BET’s President of Music Programing and Specials even stated that Bieber has crossed the color boundaries the same way that hip-hop has crossed the boundaries the other way for a number of years. Usher was the one who helped Bieber to be signed in a music label. Usher was nominated for best male rhythm and blues artist.

Bieber is admired along with music’s most popular black performers like Rihanna, Chris Brown, Beyonce and Jay-Z. Many viewers will be waiting for this event to come and many fans of Justin just can’t wait to see his appearance in the 2010 BET Awards.

The 2010 Bet awards will be hosted by Queen Latifa and it would be aired live from The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on June 27.

Indiana Representative Mark Souder admits having had an adulterous affair with staffer, Tracy Meadows Jackson then resigns.

Rep. Mark Souder, a Republican Congressman known to be conservative and supportive of family values , said on Tuesday that he will resign from Congress on Friday.

The eight-term congressman said he have “sinned against God, my wife and my family by having a mutual relationship with a part-time member of my staff.” According to some sources, their affair began after Jackson joined Souder’s district staff in 2004 and suspicions came during the primary campaign when anonymous tipsters called Souder’s aides and his opponent.

“I am so ashamed to have hurt those I love,” Souder announced in his Fort Wayne office. “I am so sorry to have let so many friends down, people who have fought so hard for me.” Souder did not identify the staff member.

Mark Souder has been married to Diane Souder for 36 years and they have three children. Tracy Meadows Jackson is also married to a successful homebuilder and Kosciusko County Commissioner.

The seventh installment of the famous shooting game Call of Duty will be released on November. Call of Duty: Black Ops full uncut trailer has been released by Treyarch today.

Call of Duty is a first person and third-person shooting video game series that began on PC, then later expanded to handhelds and gaming consoles like PS, Wii and Xbox. The Call of Duty video games are published and owned by Activision. Call of Duty: Black Ops is developed by Treyarch.

The uncut trailer has a series of in-game shots from the game’s locations like Cuba, Vietnam, Italy and other countries as well as a few of the gameplay elements. It takes place during the Cold War in 1968.

Call of Duty: Black Ops uncut trailer also features the exciting plot and intense gameplay that gamers will experience. Viewers will also witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and participate in off-the-record missions using unconventional weapons to get the job done.

Rik was the first of a few of you to send in the news that the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, is claiming that London will be fully covered by WiFi in time for the 2012 Olympic games. Of course, considering that the UK Parliament just passed the Digital Economy Act, which calls for carefully limiting access to the internet for people accused (not convicted) of infringement online, it makes you wonder how that’s going to work. Even if Ofcom has said that the DEA rules won’t initially apply to wireless providers, it does seem a bit odd to have the government offering a service like this. Once again, we’re seeing how the government has these two competing issues that don’t play well together: getting more broadband availability, while looking to help out the entertainment industry by kicking people off the internet at the same time. Who will be the first Olympic athlete kicked offline for downloading some music during the games?

Togetherville, a social network for children ages 6 to 10, aims to attract children to a more age-appropriate setting. The site launches Tuesday night. The accounts must be created by the parents using their own Facebook logins. Parents are able to approve or reject their children’s friends and see what activities or games their children are up to. Mandeep Singh Dhillon, CEO and co-founder, said “The adults participate directly. Which is why this is not a digital babysitter.” “The first platform that really integrates young children’s ability to use the Web with their grownups close by.”Kids will have separate logins to Togetherville, and the site looks different depending whether the child or the parent is logged in. There are games, pre-screened YouTube videos and other activities for children. Stephen  Balkam, CEO of the Washington DC-based noprofit Family Online Safety Institute, termed the site as a “much safer environment.” The site aims to keep children safe from cyberbullying and other dangers online.

There are many kid-friendly sites at the site, one of which is Disney’s Club Penguin which has a social-networking aspect. Togetherville offers children their first taste of social networking where they will use their real-life identities and real-life relationships. The site is also free of advertisements. Togetherville presents an environment that kids can enjoy and that parents will feel comfortable managing.

Hybrid and electric vehicles may be the auto industry’s solution for more stringent fuel economy regulations, but they also pose a new threat. Because of their silent operation, hybrid and electric vehicles can pose a threat to surround pedestrians, prompting the introduction of new “quiet cars” laws.

Championed by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers, the proposed regulations would require automakers to equip hybrid, electric and other silently operated vehicles with an audible warning to alert surrounding pedestrians. The proposal is expected to be attached to the proposed auto safety laws currently in front of Congress.

The regulations “will help to ensure the safety of pedestrians, especially those who are blind, as an increasing number of hybrid and electric vehicles are sold,” the National Federation of the Blind, American Council of the Blind said in a letter to Congress. The proposal would require “for an alert sound that allows blind and other pedestrians to reasonably detect a nearby electric or hybrid vehicle.”

If approved, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would begin writing the rules for the “quiet cars” legislation within 18 months, with the rules to be finalize within three years.

Possibly showing a change in how Toyota will now approach recall matters, the automaker has announced that it will be recalling approximately 11,500 Lexus LS models based on only 12 complaints surrounding the electronic steering system. The recall will affect the LS460, LS460L, LS600h and LS600hL sedans.

According to a report by Dow Jones, Toyota announced today that it will be recalling approximately, 11,500 LS model sedans worldwide due to a faulty electronic control system for the steering wheel.

Toyota says that approximately 4,500 on the LS460, LS460L, LS600h and LS600hL sedans are located in Japan, with another 7,000 vehicles in 50 world markets – including the U.S. and China.

To date, Toyota has received 12 complaints, according to The Sydney Morning Herald. The electrical component that is causing the failure comes standard in the Japanese market LS sedans, while it is an option in other markets such as Europe and the U.S.

As we all know, only the mothers who had just undergone labor are experiencing postpartum depression. Postpartum depression is a depression that occurs soon after giving birth. During this depression, the mother feels worthless, fatigued, restless and anxious. The husband should understand the symptoms of postpartum depression but how if he experiences the symptoms as well?

A study revealed that one in ten fathers and one in five mothers experience postpartum depression. The researcher, James Paulson of Eastern Virginia, stated that depression affects both parents and both parents should be on the look out for it. According to the research that was released on Tuesday, the authors estimated that 10 percent of the fathers experience depression before or soon after the birth of a child. For comparison, about 5 percent of men in the general population will suffer depression over the course of one year. This suggests that depression in expecting or new dads “represents a significant public health concern,”

Yes, this is a public health concern since it affects every family in the community. Now, not only the mothers are being depressed but  the fathers too. This will not have good effect on children; since depressed parents will not be able to take good care of them. During the post partum stage, the fathers are the ones who are likely to be more involved in parenting. But with the findings of the study, we should be alarmed and try to avoid this kind of situations.

The finalists are revealed tonight on the Dancing With The Stars May 18 results show. The eliminated couple is no other than Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl.

After Disney superstar Miley Cyrus performed her latest single “Can’t Be Tamed,” the announcement of the bottom group came.

The first couple who were safe tonight was Evan Lysacek and professional dance partner Ana. The next safe couple was Nicole Scherzinger and Derek. Nicole and Evan tied for the top position on the DWTS leader board last night, with a score of 59 from the judges.

The bottom two couples were Chad Ochocinco and Erin Andrews. Erin Andrews took second position with a score of 56 and Chad Ochocinco landed at the bottom with a score of 52 last night.

After the votes were counted, it was time to say goodbye to Chad Ochocinco and his dancing partner Cheryl Burke. Sadly, they will not be going to the finals. However, Chad said he had a nice time on DWTS.

“This was awesome, I enjoyed the journey,” Chad Ochocinco said. “I met some wonderful people, and I got some great criticism that’s only made me stronger. In my eyes, I have already won.”

Columbia Basin College will receive a $120,000 grant for scholarships for its nuclear technology program from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The funding is the same amount received last year by CBC from the federal agency. The grant will fund approximately 23 scholarships.

CBC began the program in fall 2009 without state funding. The College partnered with Energy Northwest, Washington River Protection Solutions, CH2M-Hill Plateau Remediation Company, and Mission Support Alliance.

The two-year program provides an Associate of Applied Science in Nuclear Technology degree with an Instrumentation and Control option. CBC President Richard Cummins says without state funding, it’s the partners that make the program go.

“The CBC Nuclear Technology program exists because of our partners, both public and private, who provide critical resources. The NRC grant will aid students and the community by filling the pipeline to replace the large number of nuclear workers.”

Energy Northwest CEO, Vic Parrish, says “CBC’s program will help ensure that many more people get a chance to enter a profession that is vital to our country’s energy future.”

The grant is part of $15 million to 59 institutions for nuclear education from the NRC.

The Israeli government stated that they have made a “big mistake” by barring Noam Chomsky who is an American academic and political activist. The interior ministry said that a low-level border clerk had unjustly denied him his entry earlier this week. Sabine Haddad, a spokeswoman for ministry, said “He should have been allowed in, it was a big mistake.” “The clerk for some reason thought there was an issue of letting him in so denied him access. If he wants to come to the border he will be allowed in,” she added. Chomsky was barred by Israeli immigration officials when he attempted to cross the Allen Bridge from Jordan on Sunday. Border officials questioned him for hours and after which his passport was stamped with “Denied Entry” and was sent away. Chomsky said that there was no “official” guarantee that he would be allowed in despite Haddad’s statement and chose to give the lecture by video link form Amman, the capital of Jordan, on Tuesday. There were about a hundred students that attended the video link lecture at Bir Zeit University near the city of Ramallah.

Avi Chomsky, daughter of Noam Chomsky, said in an email, “We will not try to enter again.” Avi Chomsky, a professor at Salem State College, was also denied with her entry. “This is nonsense. It was quite clear in our interview that they knew we were going only to Ramallah. In fact, that’s what they were upset about — the guy kept saying, ‘Why won’t you go to Tel Aviv?’”

American Idol Season 9 is quickly coming to an end. The top three finalists gave this performance their best shot and Lee Dewyze captured the heart of the audience as well as the judges.

Lee Dewyze performed Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and Simon Cowell’s choice of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah“. The 24-year-old paint sales clerk from Mount Prospect, Illinois impressed the judges of his version of “Hallelujah”.

Lee delivered a standout performance, complete with great back-up singers. Randy Jackson said it’s his biggest song and called it “unbelievable,” Ellen Degeneres said it was “stunning,” Kara Dioguardi called him “the heart of the show this season,” and Simon Cowell said “I am very, very proud of you,” and called him a “fantastic singer.”

Lee Dewyze truly has what it takes to win American Idol. He has a good voice and he can play the guitar really well. Plus, he has the looks.

What is it?

The Countryman is Mini’s new and much-anticipated fourth model, the first Mini to boast a four-door layout–something officials are banking on to appeal to a wider buyer audience. It is also the first Mini to offer four-wheel drive as an option. But while the Countryman is billed a crossover, the emphasis is clearly skewed more toward on-road than off-road driving.

The Countryman will be sold in two versions, the Cooper and the Cooper S. A higher-performance Cooper S Works version is in the final development stages at BMW but isn’t expected to reach North American showrooms until a year from now.

Pictures fail to convey the real size of the Countryman. But at 161.3 inches long and 61.5 inches tall, the car is 15.6 inches longer and 6.1 inches taller than a Mini Cooper S.

The added dimensions provide the basis for the Countryman’s four-door hatchback layout. It is the first Mini model to offer space for four adults–or five on European versions, which gets a no-cost optional three-seat rear bench. The rear seat slides fore and aft, allowing you to vary the amount of legroom and luggage space.

The Countryman gets updated versions of today’s naturally aspirated (Cooper) and turbocharged (Cooper S) 1.6-liter, four-cylinder direct-injection gasoline engine.

Peak power for the turbo motor is put at 181 hp, while torque tops out at 177 lb-ft at 1,600 rpm, or 192 lb-ft for short bursts of full throttle acceleration, where the turbocharger boost pressure increases from 20.3 psi to 23.2 psi.

While standard versions of the Countryman come with front-wheel drive, buyers can opt for a four-wheel-drive system known as ALL4. Developed in an engineering partnership among BMW, Getrag and GKN, it uses an electrohydraulic center differential to constantly vary the drive to the end with the most traction.

Under normal conditions, up to 50 percent of the engine’s power can go to the rear wheels, but up to 100 percent can be sent to either end when required. Under a trailing throttle, the clutch for the rear differential cuts drive to the rear wheels–a measure Mini says is aimed at providing predictable cornering properties.

A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, and a six-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddles is optional.

How’s it drive?

With large door openings, the Countryman is easy to enter. The cabin is similar to other Mini models, thanks to the familiar dashboard and switchgear.

The big difference from other Mini models is the height of the driver’s seat. It is set 2.8 inches higher than in the Hardtop. It provides you with a commanding view of the road, which is not something you could say about other Mini models. A more heavily raked windscreen also places the driver further back in the cabin.

We weren’t allowed to take the lightly disguised prototypes out on the open road, but a combination of low-speed handling and high-speed track work revealed the Countryman to be easy to drive with a taut ride and responsive steering feel.

But with a curb weight of 3,042 pounds, the Cooper S Countryman never feels as nimble or quite as edgy as the Mini Cooper S. The Countryman’s larger body and greater ride height contributes to greater levels of roll in corners. However, the inclusion of four-wheel drive ensured that grip remained strong, both in wet and dry conditions. Pushing hard induces predictable understeer that can be easily controlled via the throttle.

Mini claims a 0-to-62-mph time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 131mph for the Countryman–0.9 second and 11 mph slower than the Mini Cooper S. However, the willing nature of the engine and well-matched gearing makes it quite entertaining to run hard.

One thing that affected the preproduction prototypes was poor shift quality. The action of the six-speed manual on examples we drove felt rather notchy and lacked the weighty springing of other Mini models.

Do I want it?

It’s an interesting alternative to Europe’s traditional hatchbacks. The Cooper S Countryman offers satisfying performance and is quite engaging to drive quickly. Still, we can’t help but wonder how much better it might be if Mini dispensed with the allusion that it is capable of heading off-road in any big way and simply concentrated on honing the on-road qualities even more.

With 5.7 inches of ground clearance, the Countryman sits 0.7 inch higher than the Mini Cooper S for no apparent reason other than to give Mini’s marketing department the ability to call it a crossover. Lowering the ride height would clearly bring dynamic benefits, the likes of which we’ll likely see on the upcoming Cooper S Works Countryman.

For many prospective buyers, however, all this will be beside the point. The fact that the Countryman has four conventionally hinged doors, sufficient space for four adults and a good deal of luggage capacity will be enough reason to lay down their hard earned cash. Image is everything, right? It’s a Mini after all.

Jeep’s highly anticipated 2011 Grand Cherokee is merely weeks away from arriving in showrooms, so to whet the automotive world’s appetite, the automaker has released a promotional video of its crucial new vehicle. The video shows the Grand Cherokee traversing some gentle terrain near the off road mecca of Moab, Utah.

In addition, the automaker released a number of new images showing the upcoming Grand Cherokee in more colors.

Pricing, released last week, for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4×4 will start at $32,995 (including a $780 destination charge) with the up-level Grand Cherokee Limited 4×4 model commanding $39,995. The range-topping Overland 4×4 model will carry a sticker price of $42,995.

The entry-level 2011 Grand Cherokee 4×2 will list from $30,995 – $495 less than the outgoing model.

The launch of the new Grand Cherokee marks the first application of company’s new, flexible fuel 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which features Variable-Valve Timing, 290 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm. Also available is a 5.7-liter HEMI V8, generating 360 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. The HEMI features VVT and fuel-saving Multi-displacement System (MDS) technology with dual exhaust to maximize efficiency.

Torsional stiffness is 146 percent more than the current Grand Cherokee and stiffer than the BMW X5 and Toyota Highlander, according to Chrysler. The Quadra-Lift air suspension system delivers off-road capability along with the new Selec-Terrain system that allows the driver to choose the drive system that best matches on- or off-road conditions. New front and rear independent suspension systems deliver better on-road handling and comfort, the company claims. Quadra-Lift adds up to 4.5 inches of lift span that is supported by four-corner air springs that provide a cushioned, premium ride. Quadra-Lift operates automatically, or may be controlled manually via console controls.

The interior has been revamped with better materials and overall aesthetics. An available all-new CommandView dual-pane sun roof provides twice as much glass surface than a standard sun roof and extends from the windshield to the rear of the vehicle. The front panel can be opened rearward, providing additional light and fresh air to first-row passengers. The rear panel, which is fixed, allows light and open viewing for second-row passengers and comes standard with a power sun shade.

The vehicle’s 114.8-inch wheelbase is 5.3 inches longer than the model it replaces and contributes to an overall vehicle length that is 1.8 inches longer than the prior model. The longer wheelbase creates more interior room and gives passengers an additional 4 inches of rear-seat knee and leg room. The vehicle also is 3 inches wider. The front doors have larger openings — by about two inches in height and width — while the rear doors open wider — 78 degrees versus 67 degrees — for improved access to the interior.

For added passenger comfort, rear seats recline 12 degrees. There’s also a 12-degree forward angle to allow 24 degrees of variation. Cargo volume behind the second-row has increased by 6.8 cubic feet, to 36.3 cubic feet total. An available fold-flat front-passenger seat provides even more cargo storage room. An all-new power rear liftgate is available, controlled via the key fob.

Seventeen-inch wheels are standard and deliver off-road capability, while optional 18-inch and 20-inch wheels can be ordered.

The standard “uconnect guardian” will automatically call emergency services in the event of an accident. Other features include remote door unlocking, roadside assistance, a stolen vehicle locator, and an “emergency call” feature. UConnect Web mobile internet will also be on offer.

Standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM), four-wheel Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with rough-road detection, and the four-wheel Brake Traction Control System (BTCS). Other safety features include full-length side-curtain air bags which extend protection to front and rear outboard passengers, seat-mounted side thorax air bags that enhance protection for the driver and front passenger and active head restraints which deploy in the event of a rear collision.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee also features SIRIUS Travel Link, offering up-to-the minute information about gas prices, weather conditions, sports scores and movie listings. In addition, the all-new 2011 Grand Cherokee features SIRIUS Traffic, which monitors traffic in 78 markets across the U.S.

The all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee entered production at the 2.7-million-square-foot Jefferson North Assembly Plant (JNAP) in Detroit, which has been the site of Grand Cherokee production since its introduction in 1992, earlier this month. Days after a spy video of the upcoming Audi A7 was revealed, we now get a some informations regarding the high-powered S7. The fact that this is an S7 is given away by its wheel and brakes, as well as a set of quad tailpipes.

Reports have yet to be confirmed but it is believed that this model will receive Audi’s new 4.0-liter V8 along with the eight-speed transmission. Actually, this transmission will be found in most of Audi’s lineup as we announced it in this post.
