  • BorgWarner Opens Technical Center in Shanghai

    The Michigan-based manufacturer of highly engineered components and systems for vehicle powertrain applications worldwide inaugurated recently a new technical center in Shanghai, China. The facility was officially opened on March 22 in Zizhu Science Park and by 2012 is expected to employ around 400 people.

    Sebastian Vettel scored his second pole position in a row this season, in Australia, after dominating all the qualifying sessions on Saturday.   • GM Recalls First Gen CTS in Cold Weather States Due to Potential Brake Issue

    General Motors announced that it will recall a certain number of Cadillac CTS sedans due to a brake issue that can lead to seriously increased braking distances.

    The problem affects 2003 – 2007 model year CTS vehicles (the first generation of the model) in the cold weather states, where the snow or water that contains salt may lead to the corrosion of the front brake caliper’s hose.   • Maserati UK Appoints New Dealer

    Maserati UK has announced that it has extended its dealer network, through the appointment of Graypaul Birmingham, which will represent the brand in Solihull.

    The new dealership belongs to the Synter Group, and is the company’s fourth British Maserati site, joining Nottingham, Egham and Edinburgh.   • General Motors Canada Increases Production

    General Motors Canada announced that it will initiate a production output expansion plan in order to satisfy the growing demand for its Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain SUVs.

    The plan includes the addition of a third shift at the company’s Oshawa Plant, which assembles the Equinox, and the increasing of CAMI Automotive factory’s capacity – based in Ingesroll, Ontario – that produces the Equinox and the Terrain.

  • Audi A3 Cabrio TFSI Comes to the UK

    Audi’s British division announced today it has added the new A3 Cabriolet 1.2 TFSI (the smallest capacity petrol engine ever to power an Audi) to the local range, to replace the 1.6-litre MPI model. Audi UK is now accepting orders for the car, which is priced from £19,985 OTR.

    The compact TFSI engine generates the same 105PS output as the 1.6-litre naturally aspirated unit it replaces, along with 175Nm of torque between just 1,500 and 4,100 rpm- a 27Nm increase over its predecessor.

  • Petrov Gets EUR7,000 Speeding Fine in Australia

    Earlier today, we have reported to you that the Australian Grand Prix organizers have proceeded to dropping the pit lane speed limit from 100 kph (approximately 62 mph) to 60 kph (approximately 37 mph). The change was done at the request of FIA delegate Charlie Whiting, due to safety reasons, prior to the start of the Friday qualifying.

    The German company Senner Tuning’s latest target is the Audi S5 coupe, which has received a complete modification package.

    The car’s 4.2 liter V8 engine has received a 30 hp and 35 Nm upgrade and now delivers 384 hp and 475 Nm of torque.
