  • Jerez Test Lineups, Lotus to Debut T127

    The Circuito Permanente de Jerez will host its second and last testing session of the off-season this week, when no less than 10 teams will send their 2010 single-seaters to the track starting first thing tomorrow morning.   • More Rolls Royce Ghost Concepts to Come

    Rolls Royce is keen to continue the Ghost family with the introduction of several new concepts that will be released in a few years. However, the British luxury brand does not intend to use the Ghost nameplate for every model, just like it did in the case of the Phantom range, Rolls-Royce chairman Ian Robertson told autocar.co.uk.

    An extended-wheelbase version of the Ghost is also expected, but company officials are yet to comment on this subject.

  • Alfa Returns to the US in 2012

    Already hinted several times in the past year, the return of the Alfa Romeo badge to the US is likely to take place in 2012, as Fiat/Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne supposedly said in Toronto.

    I’m a lot more confident now that Alfa Romeo will reconstitute a product offering that is acceptable globally, and more in particular in the United States and Canada," Marchionne was quoted as saying by Autonews.   • Volvo May Become China’s Official State Car – Audi Threatened

    After an infinity of rumors, negotiations and versions of the same story, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group has recently signed the contract for purchasing the Volvo brand from Ford Motor Company. Among other implications, the acquisition is said to be a threat for the Audi A6’s job as the Chinese state’s official car, as ozcarguide reports.

    Li Shufu, the man who leads Geely, is currently looking forward to beginning the development of the company, after acquiring Volvo for around $2 billion.

  • 2010 Hyundai Elantra with Nav. Package, from Under $18K

    After being introduced into the North American market in September, the 2010 Hyundai Elantra recently received additional upgrades, such as an optional in-dash LG Electronics navigation unit. The Elantra GLS with Navigation Package is only $17,995, which according to the carmaker, makes it the least expensive full-screen-navigation-equipped vehicle among comparable models.

  • 5 by Peugeot to Be Unveiled at Geneva

    A lot of the new production models and concept cars to be unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show will use some kind of green technology meant to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. As the future seems to be electric or at least hybrid, car manufacturers will try to get a piece of the action.

  • No US-Bound Electric Volvo C30

    Volvo has already presented the electric C30 at the 2010 North American International Auto Show so the company can now proceed to other important steps for bringing the vehicle on the market.   • Renault Twingo Gordini R.S. Available for Order

    Renault has just announced that the first model of the revived Gordini range, the Twingo Gordini R.S., is now available for order in France, with prices starting at 17,750 Euros. This basically represents a consumer saving of 940 Euros as compared to a similarly-equipped Twingo Renault Sport.

    Last year, Ferrari sold 6,250 cars worldwide, a figure which represents a 5% year-to-year decrease, in the context of a luxury sports car market which contracted by 35%.

  • Daimler Willing to Plead Guilty and Pay $200M for Bribery Accusations

    Daimler AG admitted that it has used bribing to smooth certain African, Asian and Eastern European business development pathways, as Bloomberg reports.

    The company agreed to pay $200 million and two of its subsidies will plead guilty to end an U.S. investigation.
