Russell Crowe is set to share the screen with singing star Beyonce in a forthcoming remake of the classic motion picture A Star Is Born, London’s Daily Star has dished.

Oscar winner Robert Downey, Jr. had been pitted for the lead role, but the “Gladiator” star has apparently replaced him. Crowe will reportedly play an aging alcoholic musician who mentors and falls in love with a talented young star, portrayed by the “Single Ladies” singer.

Nick Cassavettes has been tapped to helm the movie musical, which is rumored to feature Mad Men’s Jon Hamm and songbirds Alicia Keys and Rihanna.

A Star Is Born first struck box office gold in the 1930s and has been reworked twice since its debut: first with Judy Garland and James Mason in 1957 and then with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson taking the leads in 1976.

An Australian banker, who was seen live on TV opening an email carrying dozens of semi-pictures of Miranda Kerr’s January spread in GQ Magazine, will keep his job at Perth’s Macquarie Group investment bank.

In statement Monday, Macquarie execs said they had completed an internal review of the event and decided not to fire banker David Kiely.

Kiely was in the wrong place at the wrong time when he opened an e-mailed document as his colleague spoke with Australia’s Seven News Network via satellite. Video of the incident became a viral sensation — and even encouraged an online petition to save Kiely’s job. Even Miranda offered to join the fight to help the red-faced broker to save his job.

Last week, J-Woww received a $180,000 check to return for a second season of MTV’s Jersey Shore — and the reality personality is using the bounty to shop for new melons! The 22-year-old star of the basic cable breakout smash is reportedly planning to have breast enlargement surgery in a bid to amplify her already sizable bosom.

The New York Post claims that J-Woww, whose real name is Jenni Farley, was spotted leaving the office of plastic surgeon Dr Stephen Greenberg in her native Long Island last week.

Book ‘Em, Danno! Lost’s Daniel Dae Kim will be staying in Hawaii after the hit ABC series ends its six year run this May — he’s landed a lead role in CBS’ buzzed-about remake of Hawaii Five-0.

The original series, which premiered in 1968, ran for 12 seasons before ending in 1980. In CBS’ update of the classic cop drama, Kim will play Detective Chin Ho Kelly — a sidekick role originally played by Kam Fong — The Hollywood Reporter dished Monday.

Kim — who plays Jin Kwon on Lost — is the first actor from the show to book a new series project for the Fall 2010 season. Last week, Lost co-stars Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly revealed that they would be taking a break from acting once production on the show wraps this spring.

Now that picking on The TODAY Show’s Hoda and Kathie Lee has gotten old, the side-splitters at Saturday Night Live are raking Access Hollywood over the coals.

NBC’s nightly entertainment newsmagazine was spoofed on SNL on Saturday night. Access hosts Billy Bush and Maria Menounos were played by host Ashton Kutcher and cast member Nasim Pedrad, who poked fun at Maria by bursting into the chatterbox’s trademark laugh twice during the 3 minute parody of last week’s Oscar nominations.

Tila Tequila rose to fame circa 2006 when she became the person with the most “friends” on Myspace.com. The sometimes nude and often unstable model later landed a reality dating show on MTV and released an album and a book. Now Tila’s turning her focus to music…..who will save us now?

The former reality star has confirmed that she is launching a record label and management company, dubbed Little Miss Trendsetter Management LLC and Tila Tequila Records, respectively. Tila’s also announced that the first artist signed to the new label is former B2K member Raz B.

At 17, the daughter of grunge rock pioneers Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love is making her own musical debut. Frances Bean Cobain has lent her vocals to a track that will also feature My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, Andrew WK, and Weird Al Yankovic.

Frances will be heard crooning on a single entitled “My Space,” a song described in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly as “an anthemic 80’s power ballad.” The track will appear on an album by Dressen Dolls’ Amanda Palmer set for release March 30.

Sam Worthington is trying something different — he’s doing a movie that won’t require him to battle robots or fight blue aliens!

The Aussie actor will star in the indie thriller The Fields, directed by Ami Canaan Mann (Michael Mann’s daughter). The murder mystery will see Worthington as a Texas homicide detective who joins with a New York detective to investigate unsolved murders in the Texas bayous, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The project is scheduled to begin shooting in early April.

Talk about perfect harmony! Is a musical collaboration between American Idol glam rocker Adam Lambert and Emmy/Grammy winner Justin Timberlake headed for the airwaves? Jon Gosselin is allegedly hoping to strike a deal that will convince TLC to drop its multimillion dollar breach of contract lawsuit against him, sources close to the negotiations told RadarOnline.com on Friday. The cash-strapped father of 8 will reportedly allow the network to film his brood if execs agree to drop the lawsuit.

TLC filed the lawsuit, which requests for a judge to stop Gosselin from making media appearances without their consent, after Gosselin refused to let them film his eight children for the family’s reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8, which was subsequently canceled. Gosselin hopes to avoid an expensive trial by making the deal with TLC.

“You can be sure that if the kids come back to TLC it will be only with Kate, not with Jon. And there’s no guarantee that will happen either,” says a source.

Kate is currently working on a new show with TLC that is expected to premiere later this year.

Rumor: Is Penelope Cruz jumping aboard Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise?

Star Magazine says so! The tabloid is reporting that the Academy Award-winning siren will be giving Johnny Deep a run of his doubloons in Pirates 4: On Strangers Tides, opening next summer. Jessica Simpson and her alleged former flame, Smashing Pumpkins founder Billy Corgan, are mixing business with pleasure by recording the theme song for the singer/actress’ new VH1 reality show, The Price of Beauty.

“Billy plays guitar, and Jessica’s written and performed the lyrics,” a network insider blabs in the Feb. 15 issue of Life & Style Weekly. “It’s cute that they came up with the idea together.”

The Price of Beauty — which will see Simpson and mane man Ken Paves traveling the world to examine how various cultures define beauty — premieres March 15 @ 10 PM on VH1.

In the new book Lady Gaga: Just Dance: The Biography by Helia Phoenix, the pop sensation reveals that she was saved from a dangerous addiction to cocaine by the spirit of her late paternal aunt, Joanne.

The pop tart, 23, began experimenting with cocaine and LSD after she dropped out of New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts when she was 20. The “Love Game” hitmaker — whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta — says her life spiraled out of control as she began stripping and snorting “bags and bags” of cocaine for songwriting inspiration.

“I thought I was going to die. I wanted to be the artists I loved, like Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol, and I thought the only way to do it was to live the lifestyle. My cocaine soundtrack was always The Cure. I would lock myself in my room and listen to ‘Never Enough’ on repeat while I did bags and bags of cocaine….”

The soon-to-be star ultimately realized she was jeopardizing her life when she thought of her aunt Joanne, who died while still in her teens.

Although, the two never met, Gaga insists her late aunt is still a huge influence on her career.

Simon Cowell’s rounded up superstars from the UK and USA alike for a new charity single, which features a documentary video of the devastation caused by last month’s 7.0 earthquake in Haiti.

The acid-tongued music mogul brought together 21 of the world’s most popular singing acts, including Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Miley Cyrus, and Susan Boyle to re-record R.E.M’s 1992 smash “Everybody Hurts” to raise money for the impoverished island nation.

All proceeds from the sale of “Everybody Hurts” will be divided equally between Disasters Emergency Committee and The Sun’s Helping Haiti Fund.

Now that Avatar — the latest cinema epic from lensman James Cameron — has become the highest-grossing film of all-time, star Sam Worthington is campaigning for a pay raise to reprise his role in the eagerly-anticipated follow-up.

Sam stars with actresses Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver in the sci-fi fantasy film, but according to In Touch Weekly insiders, the 33-year-old actor wants big bucks to appear in the sequel currently being crafted by Cameron. With a bevy of Oscar nominations to its credit, Avatar has earned more than $2 billion since its release in November. Sam is hoping for a salary that will mirror his role in making the film a blockbuster.

A Hollywood snitch tells In Touch: “The stars were relative unknowns when they made Avatar so their salaries reflected that. Now that the movie made Sam a star, his people will be negotiating a pay increase that’s more than fair.”

No details on how much Sam was paid to appear in the original Avatar, or how much he is requesting to star in the second film.
