  • Olivia Newton-John Tried To Block Release Of 1981 Hit “Physical”

Olivia Newton-John wasn’t very keen about getting “Physical.”

The Aussie singer and actress, now 61, has revealed that she originally tried to stop her infamous 1981 single and video, “Physical,” from hitting the airwaves. Newton-John — who shot to fame in the 1978 movie musical Grease — feared that the song and Grammy-winning video, both shot for her album of the same name, would ruin her wholesome reputation.

In an interview with The Miami Herald on Tuesday, Olivia remarks: “I didn’t want to do it! I told my manager, `Let’s not put it out’ but he said it was too late, it had already gone to radio and was 10 weeks at No. 1. I wasn’t sure about doing Grease, either. Funny how things turn out.”

The producers agreed to set the video in a fitness gym filled with rotund men to steer viewers away from the song’s sexually-suggestive overtones, but Olivia’s attempts to tone down the song seemed only to exacerbate the problem.

“I said, ‘Let’s make it about a workout – I don’t want it to go the other way,’ and yet it worked more in its favor!” she recalls.< em>“Everything I did against it seemed to help it. I insisted on wearing my clothes in the shower and then they said, ‘It was so sexy when you showered with your clothes on.’ In retrospect, it’s hilarious.”

“Physical” — which was censored and banned by several radio stations across the US –became the biggest-selling single of the 1980s and the most popular track of Olivia’s career.

In February, Billboard Magazine ranked “Physical” one of the “Top 50 Sexiest Songs” of all time.

The song and video will be parodied by Olivia on an upcoming episode of the smash FOX series Glee, airing May 4.

  • Kate Gosselin Begging Friends For Votes On “Dancing With The Stars”

After a disastrous foxtrot that will likely be the final nail in a coffin filled with chuckle-worthy and robotic performances on the 10th season of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, Monster Mom Kate Gosselin has embarked on a grassroots email campaign to keep her in the ballroom.

Life & Style Weekly’s Scene Queens got their hot hands on an email Kate sent to all her friends with a desperate plea for their votes.

The Gossip Gals write: “In it, she pleads for friends to forward the email to at least ten people and asks for everyone to call in not once, not twice, but TEN times! ‘I am much less confident this week and am actually BEGGING you this week to vote to the max for Tony I via TEXTING, EMAIL, and PHONE.’”

And it does appear that Kate can use all the help she can get: The reality TV mom was slammed by the show’s judges after her most recent showing, with Bruno even suggesting she looked “catatonic” during a performance to “Don’t You Forget About Me.” Clips from rehearsals revealed it was another tense week of practice between the Twist of Kate star and her professional partner, Tony Dovolani, with the two breaking into an argument once again as Kate complained that a visit from her children left her too exhausted to dance.

There’s nothing like blaming your eight kids for your two left feet! Although Kate feels her footwork has improved greatly, she admits that the constant criticism she receives from the judges has become a bit discouraging.

“I had fun, and they didn’t seem to notice. It’s starting to creep in a little bit. Tonight, I was trying to hold back horrible emotions … probably not on live TV should I be standing there crying in front of the judges … It’s getting a little difficult. I’m depressed, sort of.”

  • Susan Boyle Autobiography Book “The Woman I Was Born To Be”

Talent show sensation-turned-multiplatinum-selling singer Susan Boyle has inked a deal to write her autobiography.

Just what we’ve all been waiting for: the musings of a reformed cat lady.

The “I Dreamed A Dream hitmaker shot to international stardom after a soul-stirring rendition of the Les Miserables theme on Britain’s Got Talent last year. After a whirlwind 12 months, which has seen her album top charts all over the world, the 49-year-old Scottish spinster wants to lift the lid on her life on the pages of her lifestory.

She has teamed up with publishers Transworld to pen The Woman I Was Born To Be, which will be published in the UK next fall.

Transworld promises a book that will tackle “the challenges she has struggled to overcome with faith, fortitude and an unfailing sense of humor.”

Susan says: “When I strutted on to the stage for that audition, I was a scared wee lassie, still grieving for my mother, not caring how I looked. I think I’ve grown up a lot in the last year, become more of a lady, and I’m not so frightened anymore. I’m writing this book to try to show that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover and I hope it will benefit other people. My story demonstrates that you shouldn’t just look at the label, you should look at the whole person, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. I hope that telling it will show that dreams are not impossible, if you’ve got courage and a willingness to go on no matter what the circumstances.”

Boyle plans to dedicate the book to her late mother.

Worried that some people may take it the wrong way, the reality show star quickly took to her blog to assure fans that the feline was not harmed.

“Rest assured, the owner and vet were on set and showed me how to pick him up,” Kardashian wrote. “The cat was not harmed in any way and is perfectly fine! I love animals and would never do anything to harm animals.”

I used to work in an animal hospital and this is also the way that I was taught to pick up cats. I’ve never seen any cats harmed by scruff-holding…..
