  • What drives you bananas?

I saw a thread like this in another forum, so I thought I’d start one here.

There are hundreds of things that drive me bananas, but I’ll just name a few here.

People who talk on their cell phones in public…..as if I really want to hear their phone conversation.(they should outlaw cell phones.)

This one seems to be something that everyone does, and I can’t figure out why.

When you are driving on some high speed roadway, the guy in front of you is going to make a turn ahead, so they slow down in the lane they are in as they approach the turn or off ramp. If it’s a right turn, they give you a turning lane that you turn into to slow down. If it’s a left turn, they give you a turning lane or an off ramp to slow down in. Why do people slow down in the flow of traffic and cause everyone behind them to slam on their brakes?

They are slowing down as they approach the slowdown lane. What do they think the turning lane or ramp is for? If they maintain their speed till they get to the turning lane or exit ramp, the people behind them won’t have to slow down.

Have you ever been driving on a high speed roadway, and suddenly, for no reason, have to jam on your brakes because the guy in front did? That’s a chain reaction caused by people slowing down to make a turn. The guy slows down to make his turn, the guy behind him hits his brakes, the guy behind him has to hit his brakes harder, so on and so on, till everyone is slamming on their brakes.

Another thing that drives me bananas are people who take an infant to a movie theater and the kid cries through the entire movie. You should NEVER take an infant to a movie, for any reason. If you want to see the movie, then hire a babysitter. I didn’t pay $10 to listen to a kid crying. At least some movies state that no children in strollers are allowed after 6pm.

  • Ever become apathetic towards doctor’s?

I think I’m getting to the point of apathy for doctors. I find that I just don’t care anymore. I don’t know how to really describe in exactly, but I seem to just go to the doctor’s office out of habit, not because I need to go. Does anyone feel that way too?

Like today, I went to a Rheumatologist. My family doctor sent me there to have my left elbow checked out. I have calcium deposits in my elbow, so I guess that means I have arthritis in it….at least that’s what my doctor said. I can’t fully extend or bend my elbow, and if I sometimes strain it while working on something, it will hurt for weeks. Eventually, something shifts and the pain goes away, like the way it is now.

This Rheumatologist examined me, gave me a shot of something in my elbow, gave me a prescription for an NSAID (something called Meloxicam), sent me out for some blood tests and x-rays, and gave me a sheet with info about setting up an appointment for physical therapy at some therapy center.

I will go back to this doctor to get the results of the x-rays and blood tests, but after that, I’ll never go back. I won’t bother with the physical therapy, and if this NSAID upsets my stomach, and I’m sure it will, I won’t take that either. I just feel like all of this is a waste of time. I think the only reason I went to see her is because I wanted to see how bad my elbow was in the x-rays.

To me, physical therapy is a scam, and I’d never go for that. It’s nothing that I can’t do on my own at home, but there is no way that anything, short of an elbow replacement, can fix this, so why bother?

I just find that I no longer seem to care about what the doctor finds, and when they do find something, I have no interest in the treatments. When I’m sitting in the doctor’s office, I keep thinking to myself, "What am I doing here? Why did I bother to come?" Half the time, I don’t even bother to listen, when the doctor is telling me what they found and what I need to do. I don’t remember what this Rheumatologist said today, and it doesn’t bother me that I don’t know.

I don’t know if this stems from having so many things wrong with me, and taking so many drugs and supplements, that I’ve reached my limit, and my mind says, "No more."

Has anyone else gotten to this point in their life?

  • Anyone feel like chatting at 4pm EST?

I’m in chat for a while….if you feel like chatting.
  • Our National Anthem

I don’t know if I posted this here before. I know I posted this to another forum some time ago, and with my bad memory, I don’t know if I posted it here. If I did, I apologize. I just wanted others to hear these little girls sing this difficult song.

These young girls are called the Cactus Cuties, and this is their rendition of our national anthem. What I found to be interesting is that they sang it at a sporting event, and unlike every other time I’ve heard the national anthem sung at a sporting event, this was the first time the singers actually got to the last note before the audience started to applaud. Everyone was so amazed at their performance that they wanted to hear every note.:)

If you are wondering how old they are, well, two are 6 years old, two are 7, and the last is 8.

  • Anybody Knowledgeable About Plasma TVs?

I have been playing with the idea of getting a new TV. My present TV is a 35 inch CRT. My present TV works fine, but it’s not as sharp as I’d like it to be, plus it’s not a digital TV, so that’s what got me to start looking at TVs. I prefer plasma over LCDs, so that’s what I’ve been looking at. I don’t want to spend a fortune on one, but I do want to get the best I can for the money. I have my eye on this Panasonic

Looking at the specs, it looks like a decent model for the price. Does anyone have a plasma, or if they know about plasmas, does this look like a decent one?

If I do decide to get this, I will have a problem getting rid of my old one, since it weights 220 pounds, and I can’t move it by myself. Plus, even if I had help moving it, what would I do with it? The Goodwill doesn’t accept TVs that weigh that much, plus they don’t pickup in my area anyway, so I’d need to find someplace to unload it. You never think about things like this when you buy it. I hate to just throw it away, since it still has a lot of life left in it. I guess if I lived in a big city, I could just leave it on the sidewalk and hope that someone would steal it.:D

  • Anybody eat avacados?

After reading some comments on avacados, I decided to buy some at the store. Thankfully, the clerks at the store helped me pick out some that were ripe.

I need some info though. How do you eat them? Can you just eat them as they are, or do you need to peel them or cook them, or what?

I don’t want to make anything with them, I just want to know if they can be eaten as they are….like a tomato or an orange?

Can someone fill me in? I have never eaten an avacado in any way, so this is all new to me. Anyone?

  • Stress Test

Here are two images that are supposed to test your stress level.

Does this image appear to move?
    [IMG][/IMG]

How about this image, does it appear to move too?

The more stress you are under, the faster the images will appear to move. The slower they move, then the less stress you are under.

These were supposedly shown to criminals and they moved very fast. When they were shown to senior citizens and small children, they didn’t move at all.

  • Isn’t it amazing…

First, let me say that this thread is not created to cause any arguments. It was created to vent my disapproval of the status quo.

I look at what the posters in other threads are taking….diabetes meds, blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, you name it and they are taking it….myself included, and I can see the effect that the drug companies have on this country.

Okay, if you took amphetamines…speed, if you want to call it that, then you wouldn’t be over weight. Okay, so that means that you wouldn’t have all of the ailments that you now have. That means that you wouldn’t have to take your insulin or whatever you take to help control your diabetes. You wouldn’t be taking your blood pressure medicine…..you wouldn’t be taking your cholesterol medicine…..and so on. What you would be taking would be amphetamines, if you so choose.

Okay, lets look at the dollar amount….what do your diabetes meds cost per year? How about your blood pressure meds, your cholesterol meds, and so on, cost per year. For me, those costs are over $10,000 a year.(don’t forget your test strips).

So, how much would it cost you for amphetamines per year? Last I checked, it was $18 a month. That comes to $216 a year. Let’s see…..$216 compared to well over $10,000 a year. Do you think the drug companies care about your health? If they did, then why did they lobby Congress to limit amphetamine use? Amphetamines are not addictive, and they do not cause any serious side effects (I know, I was on them for 10 years), so why not allow them so that we don’t develop the problems we now have? Oh, that’s right, it’s all about money, and how much the drug companies can make off of our ill health.

This is a rant, so sorry about that, but this is something that pisses me off to no end. Had I been allowed to stay on amphetamines, I wouldn’t have the health issues I have now….plus I’d feel great, and I wouldn’t be over weight. Anything negative you read about amphetamines was reported by the drug companies….it’s all bull, and it was reported so that Congress would ban them so that you would get fat and develop all of the problems you now have.

For those that have never been on amphetamines, let me ask you this…..how would you feel if you could take a pill that cost you $18 for a month’s supply, and this pill kept you thin, made you feel great, and prevented you from developing the problems you now have. Would you take it? I did, and back then it was wonderful. These days you can’t buy that type of amphetamine anymore because it causes the drug companies to lose too much money.

The drug companies dictate the health policies of this country, and they are a self serving bunch of a$$holes that are only interested in making a huge profit….screw you and your health, as long as they can make a huge profit.

    Rant over….

  • Anyone taking simvastatin (Zocor)?

I just saw my doctor yesterday (12-15-09) and he put me on simvastatin. My latest cholesterol test showed that my cholesterol has risen to 176…..up from 165 last year.(seems okay to me, but what do I know?) My LDL was was 114 and my HDL was 42…..oh, and my triglycerides were 109.

Have any of you had any side effects from taking simvastatin? Any bad experiences to report about it?

  • Ever wonder what your dogs do at Christmas when you’re out?

This may be one of the things they do to amuse themselves.

Then there is the squirrel feeder obstacle course.

And then there is the Eagle Owl at 1000 frames per second.

  • Questions we’d like answers to…

Okay, here are some questions we’d like answers to. Some of these I have heard before, and I don’t know where they came from….maybe someone famous. Post any thoughts or questions you might have…

First, why do we park on driveways, yet we drive on parkways?

If the opposite of pro is con, then is the opposite of progress, congress?

When you’re on a plane and the pilot says over the loudspeaker, "We are now making our final approach." Our final approach? What happens if we don’t make it?

Years ago, I passed an International House of Pancakes and they had a big sign in the window that said, "We Have Menus In Braille". I mean, sure, you could see the sign from the street, but….

There was a TV commercial years ago for Brylcreem. In the commercial, high school football players would exit a bus, and as they exited, one would say, "I came back."
The next one said, "I came back".
The third one said "I came back….to Brylcreem!"
A cheerleader then said, "And we’re glad they did!"
Okay, if the stuff was so great, why did they leave in the first place?

Another one that I’ve thought a lot about…..they say that Rome wasn’t built in a day, so does that mean it was built in the night?

Why do they say that honesty is the best policy, when, if you are honest, you lose your job….or get expelled from school, or get locked up, or your spouse divorces you?

If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

I have three digital clocks that are synchronized with the atomic clock in Colorado, and that clock is supposed to be the most accurate clock in the world. It’s accurate to 1 second every million years. What do they check it with?

If you buy a bottle of glue, why doesn’t it stick to the inside of the bottle?

If you exit an expressway, and the off ramp says, "Safe Speed 20mph", if you go 40, will you be twice as safe?
