I am seeing a new endo Feb. 2. I am going to ask for a pump. While talking to some reps from two different pump companies they told me that my new endo. likes Minimed. Does that mean I have to go with Minimed? Whose decision is it? I thought I would be the one making the calls since I will be the one using it. Am I wrong? My doctor is a part of The Cleveland Clinic which is in the top 10 hospitals is the US for endo. I wouldn’t expect such backward thinking from such a hospital.

How do you eat low carb and heart healthy?
After of being in denial for 9 months, I am ready to make many of the necessary changes to be a healthy diabetic. I posted a thread last week asking about how many carbs I should eat with each meal. I am trying to stick to eating low carb foods, but many low carb foods seem to be like a heart attack waiting to happen. Will anyone give me a sample of what heart healthy meals they eat that are also low carb? I do not want to add heart disease to my many medical issues. BTW I have a major fish allergy and I despise eggs (unless they are baked in cookies, brownies, and cakesÂ…which are not diabetes friendly). Thanks in advance for your help. -
Carbs
How many carbs should you really have in a day? 1 doctor told me 45 at each meal and two snacks a day with a 5 carb limit. Another doctor said I could have 60 carbs with each meal and up to 15 carbs with each snack. I really can’t keep all of this straight. Please HELP!! -
Pumps
I think I am ready to take on a pump. I’ve been really looking at the OmniPod. It seems like people either love or hate it. Also, I’ve read a few things that they will be working with DexCom 7+, but I’m not sure if that is true. The other pump I’m thinking about is the Ping. I am a first grade teacher, and a little worried about the kiddos pulling on the tubing. Anyone have any good/bad experiences with these? -
To pump or not to pump
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes almost a year ago. My endo. has urged me to use a pump. My last A1C was a 6.9 using 4 injections daily. I just fear being tied to a pump, but I’m tired of having to prep my pen in public. The different types of pumps are confusing. I just don’t know what to do. Any suggestions?
