what do you consider “whole foods”
I see it mentioned, in so many posts, & I am curious, as to what you consider, healthy, whole foods?
(looking for ideas for my next shopping trip) -
what foods should spike you, but don’t?
mine is corn tortillas, I buy the regular ones ( can;t find the low carb) & they are about a buck for 10. Each one has 15 grams carbs. If I eat one at lunch or breakfast, using it as a wrap, I don;t get any spike. However, even one slice of low calorie wheat bread or thins (half of one) which wold have about 10 to 12 carbs, spike me much more.
What’s your anomaly? -
I’m thinking I want more Met?
When I was dx my Ac was 7.7 (Sept 09) In Nov 09 I took a free A1C at Walgreens & got a 6.4. Yesterday I had the blood test done for the A1c for my Pcp, who I go to see next week. I’m thinking it will be somewhere between 6 & 6.5 based on my 30 day meter averages. I have no doubt she will be happy with that, but I’m not.
Its my morning readings that are the killer, they are too high, this morning it was 150 & yesterday it was 146, same as at midnight, (bedtime). I am restricting carbs, eating between 50 to 100 a day, some days probably under 50. & I don’t think I have the willpower to restrict them anymore, at least for any length of time. walk every evening for 30 minutes, & that is about all I can do too, with my other health issues. So I feel more meds is the way to go to get lower numbers,
I’m wondering whether to ask for Met 750 daily or stay on the 500 Met & get another add on.
Any opinions? -
I think I’m lowish carbing, but how do I
figure the carb content on home made flax bread & muffins. I use the low carb baking mix for the muffins, (use the recipe on the bag & add cinnamon. I need to get my A1C done this month & will be visiting my PP after we get the results. I am considering asking her to up the dosage of Met, as my FBG are still way to high. Yesterday & this morning, my FBG was 160. My diet is good, No commercial breads or sweets of any kind, & lean proteins & veg is my normal meal. The flax bread does not spike me. so I make a loaf every few days. So I’m trying to get a handle on my carb intake number. -

In your opinions, which sweeetener is best for pumpkin pie?
I have been invited to my cousins for Christmas dinner, & I insisted on bringing desert ( so I can eat some 😉 ) I know they like pumpkin pies, & I was happy with the way mine turned out at TG, I used splenda. But, as they are non diabetics, would you recommend, a different sweetener, that we all can eat? I live in an area wiht many shops & have been able to find most things mentioned ( & more) -
can pain affect Bgs?
my numbers for FBG have always been high ( well since I’ve been testing , anyhow) but this past week, it seems excessive. This morning, I was at 172:eek: I know infections can affect it, but can pain, or pain killers, I have been taking 1 aleve for back pain.
I will be getting my A1C next month, & don’t want it to go higher cos of a bad week.
