  • The Spirit of LeMons

    Spirit of Lemons

If you’re not familiar, the 24 Hours of LeMons is an amateur racing series where some of the greatest automobiles in existence come together for a no-holds-barred endurance run. The cars cost $500, look (for the most part) like shit, and are in some cases, held together with little more than zip-ties and duct tape. Jeff Bloch, a Washington D.C. Police Officer by day, and the builder of this LeMons car by night, had a stroke of genius one day. It’s called the “Spirit of LeMons” and combines the chassis of an old Toyota truck, with the body of a 1956 Cessna aircraft. The result, as you can see, is glorious!

  • Ford Fiesta ST – CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS

    Ford Fiesta ST

197 hp and 202 lb-ft of torque and a 0-60 time of under 7 seconds. Those are the numbers that Ford’s new little Fiesta ST pumps out from its 1.6L EcoBoost engine. It’s got a nice set of Recaro seats, well spaced pedals and a wonderful little shift knob with short throws. Here in the U.S. it’s priced at just a tick under $21,500, which, for a little hot-hatch of this caliber is pretty damn good. Chris Harris recently drove the European version of this car (182 hp and 215 lb-ft) and came away fairly impressed. Check out his review after the jump.

  • 2014 GT-R Track Pack vs 2014 Audi R8 V-10 Plus!

    Audi vs Nissan

2014 brings us two cars that every all-wheel-drive fan is dying to see. First is the 2014 Nissan GT-R Track Pack. It brings to the table 545 horsepower and 463 lb-ft of torque from its 3.8L twin-turbocharged 24-valve V6. It tops out at 196 mph and will hit 60 mph in under 3 seconds. The price – $115,710.00. Then there’s Audi’s new 2014 Audi R8 V-10 Plus. It comes with a rip-snorting naturally aspirated 550 hp / 398 lb-ft of torque V10, a new Dual-Clutch transmission and an “OH MY GOD” price tag of $188,000. One car is a track beast, the other, an all around animal with a high-class side. Click through and check out what the boys over at Motor Trend thought of them both.

  • 2014 Corvette Stingray Tech Specs

    2014 Corvette Stingray

We all expected the new 2014 Corvette Stingray to be a beast of a car, but I’ve got to admit that the boys over at GM have really outdone themselves. The new 6.2L V8 engine for instance produces 455 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. It costs a mere $51,995.00 (a bargain), comes with a set of real seats, a new seven-speed manual with Active Rev Match technology, composite and carbon-fiber body panels, hydroformed aluminum frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components AND a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. What this all means is that for under 55k you will now be able to have a car that will (most likely) be able to go head-to-head (in stock form mind you) with some of the baddest automobiles the planet Earth has to offer.

    Well done GM!!

  • Ferrari 512 BBi Is A Piece of Art

    A Piece of Art: Petrolicious

Holger Schubert is the kind of architect that we here at Ridelust.com really enjoy. You see not only is he the proud owner of this stunning Ferrari 512 BBi but his approach to design, AND the fact that he built his garage around his car is the stuff that man-cave dreams are made of.

  • Electric E36 Makes 850 lb/ft of Torque: TUNED

    Electric BMW E36

EV West isn’t like other electric car builders. They aren’t trying to save the planet from gasoline emissions, they are trying to build race cars using electric technology for events that can best use that technology. The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb, with a total driving distance of under 20 miles at very high elevation, is one of those events. We take their Pike’s Peak M3 to the dyno to find out what 400 Kilowatts means in Horsepower, then to see how it drives.TUNED

  • Say hello to “ULTRA BOUNCER”

    Ultra Bouncer

Sometimes ingenuity, craftsmanship and imagination have the capacity to produce some amazing things. Case in point; this four-wheel steering, V8 powered, full custom chassis hooligan that’s simply called, “ULTRA BOUNCER”. It’s the bull in the china shop, the smoker in the school parking lot, and the bouncer at the club all rolled into one and it’s frickin’ glorious. Plus, the fact that it can climb over anything doesn’t hurt either. Check it out after the jump.

  • DRIVE: A Car Chase Montage

    The Chase

It’s a known fact that some of the worst movies in existence feature some of the best car chases ever created. Films like Bullitt, Vanishing Point, The Wraith and To Live and Die In L.A. are terrible from a script standpoint. However add in a good car chase, and BOOM! Instant classic. The following is a montage of some of the best chases ever recorded on film and I’ve got to say that the way it was put together is pretty damn impressive.

    Bowler EXR S

Pitting a car like the Caterham Seven Supersport against any type of SUV on a closed circuit, may seem like a very unfair thing to do. However the 550 hp Bowler EXR S is anything but a standard SUV. You see this thing was designed to not only run events like the Paris Dakar Rally, but to do things that no other SUV in existence can do. Case in point, chase a lightweight Caterham around a racetrack. Check it out after the jump.

    Carburetor

If you were born after 1985 then the odds of you ever seeing a real life carburetor are probably pretty slim. I mean let’s face it, even though fuel-injection was available in the late 60′s it wasn’t really implemented until the mid-1980′s. For those of you out there however who feel the need to know how this little piece of old school technology actually works, fear not, because this video explains everything you need to know about your friend and mine, the carburetor.

  • Jay Leno’s Garage: 1970 Morgan Plus 8

    1970 Morgan Plus 8

When I was 18 a buddy of mine came over to my parents house driving his father’s Morgan Plus 8. It packed an old Buick V8 engine, was what felt like 3-inches off the ground and had a frame that was made of wood. In short, it was one of the most terrifying things I’d ever ridden in up until that point. Jay Leno recently had a buddy stop by his garage with a highly modified Morgan Plus 8 that was set up for the road course. It was loud, low and by today’s standards, like driving an ox cart. It does however look like one helluva lot of fun, so make sure to check it out after the jump.

  • Gran Turismo 6 Trailer

    Gran Turismo 6

Be honest. Since the advent of Forza Motorsports, you just haven’t been as excited about anything that has to do with the Gran Turismo series – I know I haven’t. Sony however is now getting ready to release Gran Turismo 6, and by the looks of the trailer, it seems to be pretty damn good. I’m just wondering how much farther they’ll be able to push the existing PS3 platform without sacrificing game play or graphics. Unfortunately we’re going to have to wait awhile to find out because Sony is saying we’re not going to see GT6 until around the time that Santa comes a calling. Check out the trailer after the jump.

    Tom Cruise

It must be nice being Tom Cruise, as not only are you a world famous movie star, but you’re granted access to some of the greatest toys the planet has to offer. For instance, showing up to Willow Springs Raceway in a Red Bull helicopter (Tom is flying of course) and then having the chance to jump into a million dollar Formula 1 car for some quick laps. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not jealous (yes I am) but I’ve think I’ve chosen to follow the wrong line of work.

  • Big Wheelie on a Bagger!

    Wheelie Bagger

Pulling off a good wheelie on a motorcycle is not an easy thing to do, but can be accomplished with time and practice. However pulling off an extended wheelie on a full-dress Harley-Davidson bagger? Well, that’s another story entirely. You see these suckers can weigh upwards of 700 pounds, so hoisting, and then keeping that front wheel skyward is no easy task. The guy in this video though, this guy makes it look like a complete walk in the park. Click through and check it out.
