  • Tylenol- safe daily dose?

I have a condition that causes me to have to use pain killers on a daily basis when it flairs up. I’ve been taking 1-2,000 mg (2-4 tablets) in a 24 hr period for a few weeks. Is this ok? Also, do you know if acetominophen affects bg readings? Thanks!
  • Fell off the wagon 🙁

The last few weeks I was doing really well- watching my carbs, trying to limit my portions, and testing religiously. The last week I ran out of test strips and kind of find myself in a mini denial state- thinking that I really did not have this problem with insulin resistance. I’ve eaten things I shouldn’t, and haven’t exercised as much as I was. I’ve gain a few pounds back, and now I’ve seen my FBS numbers inching into the low 100s. I know what I should be doing, I just wanted to kind of vent I guess. I know diabetes is very serious and not something to be taken lightly, but I’m only human. Thanks for listening.
  • Interesting incident

Since no one else in my household has to deal with prediabetes, I have been trying to stay on my diet with the limited options at home, until I can go shopping tomorrow. After feeling very hungry after not eating enough, I caved and had two small slices of pizza with black beans for dinner. Afterward, I drank 3 glasses of water, and I was bracing myself for a high 1hr PP number. When I tested before I ate, it was 82, and my 1hr PP number was 78! Do you think the water is the reason why my numbers did not spike? I don’t intend on repeating this sort of thing often, but do you think this is a good way to work the glucose out of my system on those days where my meal may be too carby? Thanks!
  • Controlling diet: I feel so deprived:(

I’m trying to watch my portions and test my BS to know how my bodu reacts. However, I find that I feel so hungry b/c I don’t know what foods to eat that will leave me satisfies but not cause mt glucose to spike. I haven’t been diagnosed yet, but I am treating myself like a diabetic. Do you all have any food/meal suggestions? Also, what are good PP numbers at 1hr and 2hrs to aim for if you are prediabetic? T?hanks!
  • Worried, don’t know if I’m prediabetic or Type 2

I have a family history of Type 2 diabetes, with my mom and brother both diagnosed. I recently had a baby girl in May ’09 and was diagnosed with Gestational diabetes but was able to control well with diet. I am currently at least 40 pounds overweight, without much physical activity. I’ve been concerned about developing Type 2 diabetes so I’ve been trying to track my glucose. My FBG is usually in the 90s, but I have had two readings that were 100 and 102. My sleep is not very good quality and often sleep in late and then take my fasting glucose numbers. My 2hr postprandial with a high protein, high fiber and low carb foods are usually good, staying below 120 and sometimes even in the 80s and 90s. However, if I do eat something that is sugary or has a good amount of carbs, my numbers will be close to 140-160. I don’t know if I am prediabetic and should consult an endo. I called my doctor’s office because I was concerned and I was told by the nurse that my numbers are still within good range and that I should just keep monitoring and try to stick to a good diet and exercise. Should I be more concerned and just push to be screened for diabetes? My FBG numbers have been in the 90’s and 80’s when I’ve had them done by the lab, but I don’t know what my A1C is. I know I need to lose the weight and I have been working on that. What else do I need to do?
