  • Airbag Recall: 2010 Nissan Pathfinder, Xterra

    Now that Toyota’s safety problems are no longer in the spotlight, there’s enough room for other carmakers to make the headlines with similar topics. Nissan is just an example, as the Japanese manufacturer today rolled out a notification announcing that more than 4,000 models are affected by what appears to be a glitch concerning the front airbag module.

  • Latvala Leads Rally Jordan After SS5

    Jari-Matti Latvala has taken the lead in Rally Jordan after the first leg on Thursday, as he topped the first 4 special stages of the event less than half of second ahead of Citroen’s Dani Sordo. However, the Finnish driver might be relegated later today, as a 10-second penalty from the Jordan organizers is expected to emerge any time.

    Another highlight in Hyundai’s 2010 NYIAS booth next to the Sonata Turbo is the 2011 Sonata Hybrid model, the carmaker’s first hybrid in the U.S. market.   • Chevrolet Cruze RS Showcased at NYIAS

    Chevrolet has created an RS sporty appearance package for the Cruze and is showcasing it at the New York International Auto Show.

  • 2011 Hyundai Sonata Turbo Debuts at NYIAS 2010

    Hyundai introduced its 2.0-liter Theta II turbocharged gasoline direct-injection (GDI) engine in the 2011 Sonata at the NYIAS event today, revealing the new powerplant is capable of delivering an estimated 34 mpg highway rating, and 274 horsepower.

    According to the carmaker, the new Sonata is the first Hyundai vehicle to have both GDI technology and a turbocharger. The power unit is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control.

  • Five Axis Scion tC Breaks Loose at NYIAS

    Scion is using an aggressive marketing campaign for its new products, taking full advantage of the New York International Auto Show.   • Hybrid US Government Vehicle Fleet: 5,600 More

    The hunger for hybrid vehicles, as well as the need to set an example for fleet owners has made the US government order an extra 5,600 hybrid vehicles, thus doubling the number of such vehicles in use with various US agencies.

    "We’re going to lead by example and practice what we preach: cutting waste, saving energy and reducing our reliance on foreign oil," president Obama said when announcing the order.

  • FIA Bans Outboard Mirrors in F1

    The outboard mirrors will be banned from Formula One from as early as the Chinese Grand Prix, scheduled in mid-April. The information was revealed by British publication Autosport, whose reporters apparently found out that the International Automobile Federation (FIA) will ban the aforementioned device after this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix.

  • Citroen C3 Picasso, C4 Get Airdream+ Versions

    French manufacturer Citroen announced today it will expand the Airdream+ range with the addition to the C3 Picasso and C4. The two will join the already announced C3 Airdream+, launched earlier this year.

    The Airdream+ vehicles are powered by HDi diesel engines, equipped with Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS). The units are paired with an optimized manual gearbox with a Gear Efficiency Indicator (C3 Picasso), while the C4 comes with fuel-saving Auto EGS gearbox.

    While Scion has introduced the iQ model at the New York International Auto Show, U.S. tuner Five Axis showcased a custom version of the minicar, featuring both visual and performance upgrades.

  • Volvo S60 Enters 2010 BTCS Season

    Shortly after its premiere at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show in early March, the new Volvo S60 gets ready for its racing debut. The Swedish carmaker revealed today that a racing version of the sedan will enter the 2010 Belgian Touring Car Series (BTCS).

    The car’s maiden track test will take place today on the Belgian Zolder track, while its racing debut is scheduled for April 11.
