  • Mercedes GP Design New Front Jack for Quicker Pit Stops

    Even though people were expecting sub 3-second pit stops in the season opening race in Bahrain, the time spent by the drivers at the pits were in the vicinity of 3.5 to 4 seconds. Red Bull Racing, Ferrari and Mercedes GP had all announced the introduction of several devices to speed up their pit stops, but each failed to release their drivers within a 3 second margin.

  • World’s Longest Natural Gas Tour to End in April

    Driver Rainer Zietlow made a pit stop in Los Angeles at the Century Plaza Hotel, where he also took time to make a few statements regarding his natural-gas marathon tour, the longest in the world. Zietlow stated he is planning on completing the Transamerican tour in the first week of April, when he will reach Barrow, Alaska.

    The VW Caddy Maxi EcoFuel, driven by Zietlow, will be powered exclusively by compressed natural gas (CNG) during the entire tour.

  • Johnson Wins His First Bristol Race

    In what is a premiere for Jimmie Johnson at the Bristol Motor Speedway, the first NASCAR driver to win the Sprint Cup Series for a record 4 times in a row managed to make his mark at the Food City 500 on Sunday and won the race despite the opposition of Kurt Busch, who monopolized the first spot for 278 of the 500 laps.

  • Nissan to Reorganize Chinese Production

    Nissan plans to make changes in its Chinese business, by shifting the production of two SUVs from Dongfeng Nissan to Zhengzhou Nissan starting from April 1, as Gasgoo reports.

    Dongfeng Nissan, the joint venture between the Japanese carmaker and the Chinese Dongfeng Motor Company will no longer assemble the two SUVs, as it will start producing two compact vehicles – the SUV production will be taken over by Zhengzhou Nissan, which is a subsidiary of the joint-business.

  • Tunnel Collapses Under Spa-Francorchamps F1 Circuit

    Safety is likely to become an issue during this year’s Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, as the most recent report regarding the aforementioned track is linked with a tunnel collapse.

    According to some recent reports in the local media, an access tunnel beneath a section of the track near Spa-Francorchamps’ Blanchimont corner has collapsed partially, causing some damage to the run-off area in that section. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

  • Performax Shows RHD ZR1

    We’ve got good news for Corvette fans located in Australia, as a company from Down Under has just presented the first right hand drive Corvette ZR1. Performax International is now expecting to receive full Australian Design Rule approval for the car. This means that the car will be cleared for sale and registration really soon.

  • Justin Allgaier Clinches First Career Win at Bristol

    After 43 starts and an equal amount of attempts to clinch a victory, Penkse Racing driver Justin Allgaier managed to do so this weekend, as he won the Scotts Turf Builder 300 Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Not without having to battle teammate Brad Keselowski though.

  • Ford Mustang to Enter Economy Challenge on NASCAR Track

    Ford is taking the marketing campaign for the efficient V6 entry-level Mustang engine one step further. After advertising the powerplant’s best in class 31 mpg fuel economy, the company now wants to promote a down in the real world image of the  Mustang V6.

  • FAW to Produce Trucks in South Africa

    One of the top Chinese automotive producers, FAW Group Corporation, announced that it will expand its business to South Africa, where it plans to open a truck production site, as Xinhua reported.

    The company has signed a letter of intent with the China-Africa Development Fund, that states that the two entities will co-invest in the development of a vehicle production project in Africa.   • Kia Sorento Gets New SX Trim Level

    Kia Motors America marked the grand opening ceremony of the brand’s first U.S. production site, located in West Point, Georgia, by debuting the new SX trim level for the 2011 Sorento CUV (the first vehicle built at the plant) at the 2010 Atlanta Auto Show.

  • Four red dots for BMW Vehicles

    The 2010 red dot awards saw three BMW vehicles and one Rolls Royce getting recognized by the international expert jury of non-automotive designers. The Rolls-Royce Ghost, the BMW 5 Series Sedan, the BMW X1 and the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo were the models that received the recognition.

  • Volvo Trucks Tests Diesel Technology for Alternative Fuel

    Swedish truck manufacturer Volvo is currently working on several solutions that could help Sweden and EU achieve their target of cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 20 percent until 2020. Volvo Trucks is focusing on Bio-DME, which produces 95% lower CO2 emissions than diesel.
