Amanda Seyfried clearly did not have a bonding experience with her Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan, nonetheless the bubbly blonde — who’s gone on to star in features like Mamma Mia! and Chloe — is hopeful LiLo can sort out her personal problems and resurrect her fleeting career.

Seyfried made her movie debut when she starred as Lohan’s high school rival in the 2004 comedy and has since become a Hollywood leading lady with parts in the recent rom-com Dear John and HBO’s polygamy-themed drama Big Love. Lohan, on the other hand, who has endured a string of legal problems and stints in rehab, went on to appear in a string of critically-panned films, including 2007’s Georgia Rule and the chuckle-worthy thriller I Know Who Killed Me.

Nevertheless, Seyfried is confident her former co-star will one day make a career comeback.

“I think it’s just growth. People can fall out of line and fall back into it. I think it just takes some time. Clearly, people go through things and they deal with them differently. You’ve just got to be positive about it.”

Survivors: Heroes vs. Villains star Russell Hantz was arrested in the early hours of the morning Friday after he allegedly shoved a woman to the ground during an altercation on the streets of Downtown Lafayette, Louisiana.

Lafayette Police Department officials said that the reality show star was arrested at 2 AM after several witnesses flagged down passing officers and reported that there was a physical confrontation going on near Justin Street. Hantz was taken into custody, booked into a parish jail and released later in the day.

The woman was not seriously hurt.

Hantz, a runner-up on CBS’ Survivor: Samoa series, is currently featured on Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains.

Hey PopCrunchers, rock icon and reality star Bret Michaels could use our well wishes. Bret was admitted to the intensive care unit of a San Antonio hospital late Thursday after falling ill with a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage, or in layman’s terms “bleeding at the base of the brain stem.”

Oh no…..

Michaels, 47, was rushed the hospital complaining of a very severe headache. Insiders tell PEOPLE the former Rock of Love star is currently listed in critical condition.

“After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause. [It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation,” a source close to the star tells PEOPLE Magazine.

The rocker — who suffers from Type I diabetes — underwent an emergency appendectomy in a Texas hospital on April 12. He was released to a diabetic treatment center on Wednesday, where doctors expected him to make a full recovery.

Sadly, that’s proven not to be the case.

Earlier this week, Bret hit up his blog with a light-hearted and encouraging update on his recovery:

“I’ve been spending my time in the hospital watching ‘Modern Family.’ It is the best new comedy out there,” he wrote on April 17. “And yes there are hot nurses taking care of me, in case you were curious. I mean, come on, every man has the nurse fantasy don’t they?” Bret continued.

“I have played concerts with broken bones, extremely low blood sugars, the flu, colds, and all kinds of things before. I tend to try to perform at all costs. But, I knew I was really sick this time when I started throwing up that morning and didn’t stop all day. I just didn’t realize how bad it was. After the [surgery], they told me that if I had gone onstage like I wanted to, it likely would have ruptured and I could have died. Not good.”

Oh dear — this doesn’t sound good. We sure hope Bret pulls through. Please keep him in your thoughts….

The times they are a’changin’……We mentioned this in a brief item featured in the Thursday night link roundup, but for those who may’ve missed it: Riverdale High is getting its first gay character.

Next September, Archie Comics will be introducing its loyal readers to Kevin Keller, the series’ first man-lovin’ alpha male.

(Sidebar: Are they sure they want to tag Kevin as Riverdale’s first gay teen? Have we forgotten about Jughead? I was devoted fan and reader of Archie Comics growing up (Quiz me!) and my gaydar clocked that Jughead during 100 MPH about 20 years ago. Certainly anyone can see that he likes his coffee very sweet.)

Described as a hunky blonde who defeats Jughead in a burger-eating contest, Kevin immediately catches the alway roving eye of raven-haired rich girl Veronica, which prompts Kevin to spill his secret to the compassionate ear of his trusted confidante Juggie. (What did I tell you?)

“It’s nothing against her. I’m gay,” he explains.

Jughead urges him to wait to tell Veronica, and hilarity ensues as Kevin wrestles with ways to rebuff Ronnie gently, the company said.

Jon Goldwater, co-CEO of Archie Comics, says the introduction of Kevin is “about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive.”

“It’s a lot of fun,” said Dan Parent, who wrote and drew the story for Veronica No. 202, which will hit comic book stores in the US Sept. 1.

“It’s not an issue like it would have been 20-30 years ago,” Parent explained. “We’re not trying to send social messages. We just want to reflect what’s going on today. Riverdale’s a melting pot.”

He added that people who are offended by seeing the Riverdale kids befriend a gay teen “aren’t the kind of people we want reading our comics anyway.”

Oscar-winning child predator Roman Polanski has enlisted the help of the world’s most powerful man in a last ditch effort to battle extradition on his 33-year-old stautory rape charge: He’s written a letter to President Barack Obama, according to French tabloid L’Express.

The Chinatown director is currently under house arrest in Switzerland as prosecutors in California attempt to force him back to the United States (rightfully so, might I add) to face sentencing for drugging and raping a 13-year-old aspiring model in 1977.

Several high-profile Hollywood figures have already spoken out in support of Polanski, now he’s hoping the US president will keep him out of jail. According to L’Express, President Nicolas Sarkozy – who is backing Polanski’s bid for freedom – “played the postman” and delivered Polanski’s handwritten note to Obama earlier this month.

“In an astonishing act of backroom diplomacy, Nicolas Sarkozy hand-delivered a letter from Roman Polanski to Barack Obama last week on the sidelines of the anti-nuclear proliferation summit in Washington.”

Polanski fled to France in 1978 after pleading guilty to a charge of unlawful sex with a minor. He was arrested by Swiss officials last September after arriving in the country to attend a film festival in Zurich. This week, a California judge torpedoed an effort by the victim, now a mother in her forties, to have the case thrown out.

Conservative actor and born-again Christian Stephen Baldwin

In 2009, Baldwin filed for bankruptcy after he racked up more than $2.3 million worth of debt with several mortgages, bills to the IRS, and defaulted credit card accounts. Now a new website, set up Lyn Fletcher — a member of Stephen’s Baldwin Ministries, aims to ease the star’s financial hardships by encouraging public donations which will be deposited directly into his bank account.

Kate’s slated to launch her own TLC series — titled Twist of Kate — this summer and Jon, desperate for cash now that Jon & Kate Plus 8 has been sent to the Reality TV Graveyard, is reportedly itching for his own show on the network.

“I just can’t afford the $22,000 a month right now,” Jon told TMZ.com this week. “That is why I’m trying to find a job. I would like a job in some aspect of TV, probably as a host.”

Today, April 23, is the anniversary of the day a 19 second clip entitled “Me At The Zoo became the first video uploaded to YouTube. The world’s leading video-sharing interface has become such a pop culture phenomenon it seems hard to believe it’s only 5 years old. Over the past half a decade, millions of videos have been uploaded and shared all over the globe.

The video that started it all shows YouTube co-founder Jawed Karin during a trip to the San Diego Zoo. A caption accompanying the footage reads: “The first video on YouTube, uploaded at 8:27PM on Saturday April 23rd, 2005. The video was shot by Yakov Lapitsk.”

“Me At The Zoo” now has more than 1,975,791 views.

James Cameron’s Oscar-winning blockbuster Avatar sold a record-breaking 1.5 million copies on blu-ray discs when it arrived on store shelves on the 40th anniversary of Earth Day this week. The feat shatters the previous record set by The Dark Knight in 2008. A 3D blu-ray edition of Avatar is planned for release sometime next year. Earlier this year, Avatar replaced Cameron’s 1997 period drama Titanic as the highest-grossing film in cinema history.

Drats! The Green Hornet won’t be buzzing into theaters this holiday season.

The film, based on the crime-fighting hero of the 1930s and ‘40s, has been moved from its planned December 22, 2010, release date to January 14, 2011, Deadline Hollywood has learned.

Sony Pictures has delayed the release of the forthcoming superhero blockbuster — which stars Seth Rogen (AKA Hollywood’s newest “Hardest-Working Man”) — to give the feature the 3D treatment.

“We’re investing more in the film to have it 3D,” Sony Vice-Chair Jeff Blake told the site on Friday. “We love it. We believe in it. We’re going to finish ‘Green Hornet’ in 3-D and take nine months to do it right.”

Britney Spears’ overbearing father has banned the pop star from leaving her Los Angeles home without a bra, The Sun claimed in a report on Friday.

Former chef Jamie Spears – who has legal control over all Spears’ affairs – fears his troubled daughter is getting close to the brink again and has imposed a host of new rules on the “Womanizer” singer to help keep her in line. First order of business: “Put a bra on.”

Papa Spears is none to pleased about recent photographs of Britney — which almost always seem to feature guest appearances by her nipples — that have popped up on the blogosphere as of late. Jamie, 57, has allegedly threatened to fire one of the 28-year-old’s security guards who has let her be photographed bra-less several times in recent weeks.

Design guy Seth Aaron Henderson sewed up victory on the seventh season finale of Project Runway on Thursday. Judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors, and special guest Faith Hill chose Henderson over fellow finalists Emilio Sosa and Mila Hermanovski on the final episode of the current season of Lifetime’s reality fashion design competition.

Throughout the season, Henderson presented a collection of high-collared dresses and professional separates, inspired by 1940s German and Soviet military. His looks were accentuated by thick leather belts, leather gloves, and patterned leggings.

“I’m a risk taker,” says Henderson, a 38-year-old stylist and designer from Vancouver, Washington. “I feel you have to push the envelope all the time, otherwise you’re going to blend in. I’m ready to start a large clothing line. I’m ready to conquer the fashion industry….”

After out-designing the competition, Seth will take home this year’s Runway grand prizes: an editorial feature in an issue of Marie Claire, a cash prize of $100,000 to start his own line, an opportunity to sell the line on Bluefly.com, and a $50,000 technology suite from Hewlett-Packard to create, design, and run his design business.

It’s a match made in musical heaven: Amy Winehouse and Mark Ronson are teaming up to record an album in honor of industry icon Quincy Jones.

Ronson, who worked with Winehouse on her 2006 breakout album Back To Black, has finally started the project — which had been stalled for nearly two years.

Mark says: “Over the weekend she did three tracks for Quincy Jones. She’s doing great.”

Academy Award winner Helen Mirren has signed up to star alongside fellow Brit Russell Brand in a remake of Dudley Moore’s 1981 comedy Arthur.

The Queen star will play a nanny to the title character in a role loosely based off of the one that earned John Gielgud an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in the original. Mirren’s role was originally intended for Meryl Streep, who reportedly passed on the part.

Arthur is set to begin filming in New York City in July.

Troubled ex-child star Gary Coleman is hoping love will be sweeter the second time around after recently reuniting with his estranged wife, Shannon Price.

The Diff’rent Strokes star, 42, was arrested in January after police were called to the couple’s Utah home following reports of a fight.No criminal charges were filed at the time, but Coleman was cited for failing to appear in court for a hearing into a separate altercation involving his wife in April 2009. He pleaded guilty to one count of domestic violence criminal mischief and was fined.

Gary and Shannon decided to patch up their differences after Gary was hospitalized twice for seizures earlier this year.

A source tells The National Enquirer: “Shannon has moved back in (and) Gary’s like a new person. Gary really thought he could die at any time and it (recent health crisis) made him realise how much he really loves Shannon. They’ve never been happier and all their friends are hoping their love will stick this time.”

The couple — who wed in August 2007 — are reportedly setting up a dog-breeding business.

“Awful” is the word Australian actor Alex O’Loughlin uses to describes his awkward sex scene with Jennifer Lopez in their new romantic The Back-Up Plan, Sydney’s Daily Telegraph reported on Friday.

“Really, it’s awful and anyone who thinks filming sex scenes is hot would be wrong,” O’Loughlin, 34, told reporters during the New York red carpet premiere for the film on Wednesday night. In fact, Alex was so uncomfortable pretending to share his bed with The Artist Formerly Known as J. Lo, he’s sworn off sex scenes — declaring that he would “be happy to never do another one again.”

In the film, Jennifer plays an unmarried woman named Zoe who is desperate for a child and is artificially inseminated through a sperm bank. Still unaware of her pregnancy, she meets Stan (O’Loughlin), and the two start dating.

Lindsay Lohan has been named a suspect in the disappearance of a Rolex watch valued at more than $35,000. According to TMZ.com, investigators in Los Angeles have “photographic evidence” linking Lohan to the theft, which occured after one of her pals accidentally left the watch at Lindsay’s house earlier this year — and never got it back.

Lindsay’s latest legal woe comes after The Lohan Family went on a Twitter rampage on Thursday after Michael showed up at the actress’ apartment with police officers for an ill-fated “intervention.”
