A family-friendly live theatrical adaptation of Batman is being developed for the stage.
According to a item featured in The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, the proposed show is described as neither a musical nor a Broadway show but rather a touring production targeted at children and families.
Alan Burnett, the scribe ehind various animated Batman and Superman TV series, is penning the script for the show, which could hit the road as early as 2012.
Tiger Woods apologist Jim Carrey joined Conan O’Brien onstage during his nationwide comedy tour stop in the City of Angels on Saturday night.
On the Los Angeles leg of his comedy tour this weekend, the late-night comic was greeted by surprise guest appearance by Carrey, who came dressed as a superhero. Wearing a Superman costume, joined the former Tonight Show host onstage to sing a duet of the song “Superman” by Five For Fighting. Both Conan and Jim posted a video of the show online for fans’ enjoyment, with O’Brien writing on his Team Coco: “If you missed last night’s show, A.) I feel sorry for you, and B.) here’s a little taste of the comedy magic that went down.”
Earlier this month, Conan confirmed that he will be returning to late-night TV on a new TBS series premiering in November.
The producers and cast of MTV’s long-running docu-soap The Hills are in chats to extend the show’s final season after discovering that exes Brody Jenner — who is reportedly dating singer Avril Lavigne — and Kristin Cavallari still have feelings for one another.
On Friday, reality star Kristin Cavallari told E!’s Marc Malkin that MTV may double its order for the sixth and final season of the series — which premieres this Tuesday.
“There’s a possibility of them ordering 12 more episodes,” Cavallari divulged. “I would like to do it.”
“I would like to do it. I’m in such a rhythm with things and I’m having a great time. We’re just now starting to get into some really good juicy stuff with a few new people. So I think we could do another 12 episodes and make it pretty good,” she added.
“And I can’t deny the fact that he (Jenner) is one of the most good looking men in the entire world. We have a lot of fun together. I don’t know if we could ever really get back together and be serious, but we are sort of trying to see if we could.”
Cavallari’s also hopeful that the extended Hills finale will feature a cameo by frenemy and former series star Lauren Conrad.
“I think it would be so great if she did (come back). There are many different ways of bringing her back.”
Ratings for the show took a nosedive after Lauren’s departure in 2009.
One series regular who won’t be back is onscreen villain Spencer Pratt. In a separate interview with Zap2It, Kristin claimed that Heidi Montag’s permanent manbag won’t be returning for The Hills’ final hoorah.
“Spencer got kicked off the show like a month and a half ago,” she revealed. “He’s done; he’s completely done.”

The heiress-socialite was snapped over the weekend enjoying dinner with model Jason Shaw at NYC’s Woo Lae Oak. Hilton dated Shaw for almost three years before calling off their engagement in 2003 — but tattles say the pair’s feelings for one another have stood the test of time.
“When Jason found out that she had ended her relationship with Doug, he was thrilled and made plans with her right away,” one pal told E! Online. “Paris has always loved Jason and cared about him deeply. But when they were together she was just a kid and not ready for such a commitment.”
Talladega Nights got a bit too hot for Miss America Caressa Cameron during a NASCAR race in Alabama on Sunday.
Cameron was overcome by the steamy Southern heat and left unable to perform The National Anthem before the weekend race at Talladega Superspeedway.
According to a statement released by The Miss America Organization on Sunday evening, Caressa, 22, was “taken to the track’s medical care center, evaluated, and quickly released.”
She is now resting comfortably.

Lindsay Lohan’s having a tough time ditching her rep as a real-life “Mean Girl:” Word on The Snitch Circuit has it that the ex-A-lister has been banned from Los Angeles hotspot Trousdale after hurling a glass across a crowed dancefloor at former girlfriend Samantha Ronson.
Lohan, 23, was asked to leave the following the incident with the celebrity spinner — which left the DJ “really shaken up” on Friday night.
Lindsay and Sam dated on and off for 18 months before finally calling time on their romance in 2009. The love affair was peppered with Twitter spats between the two, allegations of cheating, and rumors of Lohan’s ongoing drug use.
“Samantha was DJing and went to sit with her friends when Lindsay stormed over and threw a glass at her head. Glass threw everywhere, and Samantha looked really shaken up. The club owner asked Lindsay to leave and was overheard saying she’ll never come back,” says a spywitness, who watched in horror as LiLo attacked Sam with the glass.
Despite the incident Samantha, 32, continued to party, and later wrote about the incident on twitter.
“Just got a glass thrown at my head….. Hmmm- wonder who did it????(sic)”
Last week, Lindsay accused Samantha of spitting in her face during the 2010 Coachella Music Festival. When questioned about why her actress ex would throw a glass, Samantha told X17 Online: “I don’t know, she’s an angry human being.”
The attempted assault comes at the end of a tough week for Lindsay; mere days after her estranged dad staged an Old Apache-style police raid on her crib and LAPD snitches named her a suspect in the theft of a friend’s $35,000 Rolex.
The Roman Catholic Church wants Scottish spinster-turned-singing sensation Susan Boyle to perform for Pope Benedict XVI during his visit to Britain later this year, a spokesman for the church told The Herald Sun on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the church’s Scottish diocese said that a meeting is likely to be held to discuss a performance by the 49-year-old singer.
Boyle was catapulted to global stardom after belting out the theme to Les Miserables as a contestant on the UK TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent in 2009. Her first album, I Dreamed A Dream, was the best-selling debut in British chart history and also topped the Billboard charts in the US.
The rep added that Boyle would be a ‘great asset” for the events planned for The Pontiffs visit.
“She certainly would be a great asset to the program on the day and we hope to be able to discuss the possibility of her participation soon….”
Pope Benedict will be in Britain Sept. 16-19.

Australian police sparked a near riot on Monday after they shut down a concert by Canadian teen singing sensation Justin Bieber over crowd safety fears just hours before the free event was due to start.
The 16-year-old had been scheduled to sing three songs — behind bulletproof glass mind you — in front of the Overseas Passenger Terminal on Channel 7’s Sunrise program in what would have been his only Australian public performance. Chaos nearly ensued when cops pulled the plug on the show after reports of shoving and girls fainting in the audience. The news didn’t sit well with the thousands of Bieber fanatics who had arrived ahead of the show — many of which had been camped out all night.
“Police at the event were concerned for the 4,000 excited people already in attendance with many more anticipated to arrive prior to the start of the performance,” New South Wales police said in a statement. “All those removed from the area have so far suffered only minor injuries and have been treated at the scene.”
Bieber, who later sang one song live on local television, apologized to the fans who had waited to see him perform at his only Australian gig.
“I am so sorry that it got out of control, we don’t want anyone to get hurt. It gets crazy sometimes,” he said.
The “Baby” crooner took to his Twitter page saying: “I love my fans…I love it here in Australia…and I want to sing. I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR…I DONT CANCEL…I WOKE UP THIS MORNING TO THE POLICE CANCELING THE SHOW FOR SAFETY REASONS. I love my fans….and I am just as disappointed as everyone else with the news from this morning. I want to sing for my fans.”
He later added, “I’m beyond grateful…that was incredible. Thank u for such an amazing warm welcome Australia…I told you I wouldnt let you down. Thank U!”

So You Think You Can Dance has unveiled the list of all-star former contestants who will partner up with this season’s aspiring champions. They will pair each week with the 2010 contestants who are vying for a $250,000 cash prize and a dance magazine cover feature. Each week, this year’s Top 10 contestants will draw the name of an all-star and perform in the style perfected by that dancer.

Rocker-turned-reality star Bret Michael is conscious but speaking with slurred speech after being rushed to the hospital on Friday suffering a massive brain hemorrhage.
Doctors diagnosed a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage, or bleeding at the base of his brain stem, after the 47-year-old musician complained of an excruciating headache.
Bret remains in critical condition, but is conscious and talking with slow, slurred speech, his publicist said on Sunday. He’s still under 24-hour supervision as doctors try to locate the source of the brain bleeding.
“Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete, the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness etc will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal,” a rep for the star said in a statement this afternoon.
Michaels — who was diagnosed with diabetes as a child — had an emergency appendectomy earlier this month. In a blog entry pened on Wednesday, Bret called his recent health troubles a “wake-up call to be a little bit more diligent on keeping control of my health.”
Michaels rose to fame in the 1980s as frontman of the glam-rock band Poison. In recent years, the rock star has found fame as a reality TV star, appearing on such shows as VH1’s Rock of Love and on the current season of Donald Trump’s The Celebrity Apprentice — during which he has raised approximately $100,000 for The American Diabetes Association.
His latest album Custom Built is set for release later this year.

Realizing the error of his ways, the guy asked Snooki for an apology, which only infuriated her further. She threw food at the pesky lug and wacked him across the face in a vicious tirade. The pest took revenge by throwing his drink at Snooki. Finally the security personnel took action and threw the guy out. Snooki took a few minutes to do up her hair before continuing to party.

Cash-strapped and scandal-stained starlet Lindsay Lohan has been dropped from the cast of the forthcoming film The Other Side after the movie’s financiers refused to work with the troubled actress, tattles close to the production have divulged.
Lohan had been tapped to star in the dramedy about a grad student working on a deserted island, but sources related to the production claim the studio became worried about the Mean Girls diva’s ability to deliver in the wake of a series of personal and professional troubles.
“Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we’ll soon be announcing a replacement,” says David Michaels, says the writer/director of the flick, which stars Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews, and Alanis Morissette.
News of the movie debacle comes at the end of a long week for LiLo. Her father attempted to stage an intervention to “save” her on Thursday. Michael Lohan flew from New York to Los Angeles to convince his daughter to enter rehab for addiction to prescription drugs. He went to her apartment building in Hollywood – where she is hosting her 16-year-old sister Ali – accompanied by four plainclothes police officers. The act sent Lindsay on an adrenaline-fueled Twitter rampage against her “ex-dad.”

Jennifer Carpenter says her husband, Dexter star Michael C. Hall, has “fully recovered” from cancer and has returned to work.
Carpenter said Friday that Hall was “incredibly brave” when he announced in January that he was undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma, cancer of the lymph nodes. Hall, 38, is currently in remission after undergoing treatment at a health facility near Los Angeles. In fact, he was snapped by paps filming scenes for the upcoming film East Fifth Bliss — alongside co-star Lucy Liu — in New York City this week.

The ex-wife of actor David Hasselhoff has been sentenced to three months in jail after pleading no contest to a drunk driving charge this week.
On Thursday, a Los Angeles judge sentenced former singer Pamela Bach to 90 days behind bars for violating her probation for a November arrest for DUI. Arresting officers found she had a blood alcohol level of 0.14, well above the legal limit of 0.08. Bach will begin serving the sentence in May.
Attorney Jon Artz says his attorney “wants to do the right thing” and move forward with her life.
Bach was married to Hasselhoff for 16 years until the actor filed for divorce in 2006. She appeared as a cafe owner in several episodes of The Hoff’s ’90s hit Baywatch. The former couple are the parents of two teen daughters.
