The girls tried to rekindle their friendship with a phone call last month, but when Brit’s dad — also her legal guardian — found out he hit the roof, an insider snitched in the March 15 issue of The National Enquirer.

“The trouble started when Lindsay reached out to Britney for advice on getting her career back on track,” a spy explains. “They simply chatted by phone – but when Britney mentioned it to Jamie, he exploded. He instantly phoned Lindsay’s managers and told them he would not tolerate further attempts to contact his daughter.”

  • Alec Baldwin NYU Commencement Speaker

Emmy-winning actor Alec Baldwin will address the graduating class of New York University during the Class of 2012 commencement address on May 12.

He’s no Betty White, but we’ll take it!

The 30 Rock actor — who made his debut as host of the Academy Awards on Sunday — will also receive an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree at the Spring ceremony.

“We expect that the honorees will be received by the graduates and guests at commencement not merely with the respect and courtesy they deserve for their accomplishments, but with real enthusiasm,” NYU spokesman John Beckman said of Alec, a grad of the university’s acclaimed Tisch School of the Arts. “The choice of Mr. Baldwin as the host of this year’s Academy Awards and his selection as the recipient of an honorary degree from NYU are not related, other than that both are recognitions of his talent as an actor.”

In December, Baldwin donated $1 million to establish a drama scholarship for aspiring entertainers studying at The Tisch School.

  • Lil Wayne Carted Off To Jail, Finally

After more than a month of legal wrangling and odd delays, Lil Wayne has finally been sentenced to a year on New York’s infamous Rikers Island after pleading guilty in a 2007 New York City gun case.

On his hit single “A Milli,” Weezy raps that he’d rather be “pushin’ flowers than to be in the pen sharing showers,” but is appears he’ll soon find himself doing just that. Before today’s court appearance, it had proved difficult for Wayne to actually begin his agreed-upon sentence. First, the hip-hop star’s sentencing was postponed in February so he could undergo extensive dental surgery. Then, a fire shut down Manhattan’s main criminal courthouse while he was on his way to turn himself in last week.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper — whose real name is Dwayne Carter — was taken away in handcuffs to start serving his term immediately after his sentencing. In October, he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and admitted having a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in 2007. With good behavior, the father of four (or is it five?) could be free in as little as eight months.

  • Ryan O’Neal “Stunned” By Farrah Fawcett Oscars Snub

Farrah Fawcett’s longtime partner, Ryan O’Neal, is devastated that the late actress was omitted from the “In Memoriam” montage at last night’s 2010 Academy Awards, and is speaking out against the snub:

“It was a terrible decision and very hurtful. Farrah was a member of the Academy for over 40 years and we could not believe she did not get a mention. Both Tatum and I were very upset and we intend to write a letter to the Academy to try and get an explanation for this oversight on their behalf. They gave mentions to sound guys and other writers and without being disrespectful, Farrah Fawcett was an icon and a household name. Quite frankly, we were stunned at the decision not to include her in the tribute and I feel that the Academy should be scolded for that, everyone was shocked.”

The Academy Awards’ tribute section on Sunday night marked the deaths of stars including Brittany Murphy, Michael Jackson, and Patrick Swayze.

Leslie Unger, a rep for the Academy, tells Radar that “unfortunately we don’t include everyone.”

Attention Webster’s: Please update your dictionaries, Ke$ha — the woman who brushed her teeth with a bottle of Jack — has a new definition for the phrase “party girl” label. The “Tik Tok” hitmaker fears she’s becoming more well known for her active social life than for dance-anthems and has offered a detailed explanation of why she does not deserve her cursed wildchild tag.

The pop newcomer told Britain’s Sunday Times this week: “…The phrase ‘party girl’ implies someone who is out at a club, maybe doing some guy in the back who you’ve just met. Then you get in your car and you flash your vagina at the paparazzi. And I’m none of the above. Could I have a number one song if I wasn’t also working hard? I have been working on realizing this dream, my path, my mission, for years. I’ve really invested a lot of thought, time and effort into it….”

  • Oscar Producers Defend Farrah Fawcett “In Memoriam” Snub

Producers of this weekend’s 82nd Annual Oscars have defended a slight that left ’70s sex symbol Farrah Fawcett out of the annual “In Memoriam” montage — which pays tribute to Hollywood stars who have died over the past year. The Charlie’s Angels actress died in June after a nearly three year battle against cancer, but she was absent from the Academy Awards’ tribute section on Sunday night, which marked the deaths of stars including Brittany Murphy and Patrick Swayze.

The snub has caused some film fans to speculate that Fawcett had been left out because of her notable television career. The actress was best known for her career in television, but she did act in several movies; including The Cannonball Run and The Apostle, and Extremities — for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination in 1987.

Bruce Davis, the executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, argues that it’s impossible to pay tribute to every star who has passed away in the last year.

“It is the single most troubling element of the Oscar show every year, because more people die each year than can possibly be included in that segment. You are dropping people who the public knows. It’s just not comfortable.”

That explanation isn’t sitting well with some Hollywood vets, who used the Web to voice their displeasure with the Fawcett Diss.

“Why didn’t they show Farrah Fawcett during the memoriam? So strange,” socialite Nicky Hilton Tweeted during last night’s ceremony.

Star Jones argues that Farrah appeared in several facets of entertainment: Jones wrote on her Twitter page, “FYI (for your information)… Farrah had a very diverse career… that included Broadway, TV & Film. She even received a Golden Globe nom.”

Jane Fonda was also shocked that the Oscars montage omit Fawcett: “Where was Farrah Fawcett? She should have been included.”
