CBS anchor Harry Smith is scheduled to have a colonoscopy live on The Early Show this Wednesday. March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Harry is getting into the spirit of things by undergoing the procedure at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, CBS News said on Tuesday.

CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric lost her husband to colon cancer in 1998. She had an on-air colonoscopy on The TODAY Show back in 2000 and plans to be with Harry as he prepares for the procedure — performed by Dr. Mark Pochapin. After Katie’s colonoscopy, University of Michigan researchers documented a 20 percent increase in the number of colonoscopies performed across the country. They dubbed it “The Couric Effect.”

Lady Gaga’s highly-anticipated new video for “Telephone,” featuring Beyonce, will make its worldwide debut this Thursday, March 11. The video will makes its online debut on VEVO.com and LadyGaga.com @ 12 AM Thursday evening. Gaga has said the “Telephone” video will be a continuation of her award-winning “Paparazzi” video. The hit is the second single from Lady Gaga’s platinum album The Fame Monster.

Cancer-stricken Beastie Boys rapper Adam Yauch is planning to restart work on the band’s latest album after postponing recording to undergo treatment for cancer last fall.

Hot Sauce Committee, Part 1 was indefinitely postponed after Yauch was diagnosed with a malignant tumor on his salivary gland in September. He had surgery to remove the growth and recently announced he’s feeling well enough to restart work on the LP.

Yauch tells Entertainment Weekly: “I feel better. It was touch and go there for a while, but I am finally getting my energy back. It was really disappointing to have to hold the record and postpone the tour, but doctor’s orders. We may or may not (release the album) depending on how my health is come September. We want to but we have to play it by ear. We were talking about working on it a bit. We finished the record over a year ago, so we want to take a look at it and re-evaluate and make sure it is what we want to put out there and that we are still happy with it. I don’t think we will change it up too much.”

A 20-year-old college student claims the two-time Super Bowl champ assaulted in the bathroom of a nightclub in Milledgeville, Georgia — just south of Atlanta — last Friday. Roelisberger had been at the establishment celebrating his 28th birthday.

Roethlisberger’s denies the charges, but he’s already facing a civil suit from a Lake Tahoe hotel concierge, who claims “Big Ben” raped her in 2008.

Rascal, a seven-year-old African Sand Dog, won the title of the World’s “Ugliest Dog” at the 15th annual ugly dog contest in Del Mar, California last weekend, Sign On San Diego reports.

“I think he’s the most handsome dog I’ve ever seen,” says Dane Andrew, who owns the toothless, Mohawked Rascal. “People just say, ‘Your dog is ugly’. So we just go with it and have fun with it. He’s the best at what he does, I guess. He’s ugly.”

Rascal — the pooch with a face only a true dog lover can adore — is a descendent of Chi Chi, the Guinness Book record holder for winning the most ugly dog contests.

Comedian Dane Cook and two-thirds of pop trio The Jonas Brothers have auditioned for roles in the upcoming big scree revival of Marvel’s Captain America, Hollywire.com dished on Tuesday. Cook and Kevin and Joe Jonas have read for the role of the superhero and other parts in the movie, a remake of the critically-panned 1990 original.

On Monday, Dane updated his Twitter account with the following message: “I’m minus 7% body fat now, bones replaced w/lightweight scandium alloy! Had to get shredded (pictured) for Captain America audition and standup tour.”

When a fan asked if he is really going to audition, Cook replied: “I did already. They might be going young. I say go RDJr route – give me the part!”

Sadly for Dane, landing the part may not be as easy as a snap of the fingers. In fact, there are a number of candidates up for the role: including The Office’s John Krasinski, Gossip Girl hunk Chace Crawford, and Mike Vogel of Cloverfield fame. God, give us anyone but Dane Cook!

Alec Baldwin admires Leonardo DiCaprio. The Emmy winner has made no secret of his sometimes displeasure with the course of his own acting career, and he wishes his fortunes were as successful as the Titanic star’s.

Simon Cowell opened up about his engagement to makeup artist Mezghan Hussainy during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Monday night. And get this — the American Idol judge is thinking of one day becoming a father.

Jay asked Simon to set the rumors straight about his reported engagement not long after the interview began.

The music mogul, 50, replied: “Are [the rumors] true?’ Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make that somebody happy…it’s called giving back…I was asleep I think. No, look, I bought her the ring in London.”

Hussainy was later invited from the audience to join Cowell on-stage.

“I’m kind of torn because I’m a bit too old to have kids, but then again I think it would be important to have a lot of ‘mes’ around in the future.”

Cowell promises he’ll wed Hussainy “within the next ten years.”
