  • Sharon Osbourne Essay On Fame

British television personality Sharon Osbourne has penned a first person editorial on fame in the 21st century as she anticipates the release of her debut novel, Revenge, hitting shelves this week.

The wife of rock star Ozzy Osbourne managed to parlay that notoriety into a career as a music manager and reality show sensation, starring on the popular MTV docusoap The Osbourne and later lending her sharp-tongue to TV talent searches The X Factor and America’s Got Talent. In her piece, published on the pages of the UK’s Daily Mail on Sunday, Sharon explains the differences between fame, success, and happiness, and reminds readers that talent plus hard work remains the recipe for success.

Sharon writes: “Fame has been on my mind a lot recently. My debut novel, Revenge, is about two fame-hungry sisters and how their quest for celebrity impacts upon their lives in negative ways that they never anticipated. And my second novel will focus on a popular TV talent show and look at what really happens behind the scenes….Today, though, young people regard fame as a birthright. They have a sense of entitlement the size of one of my houses. I recently heard about the work of an American psychologist who discovered that in the Fifties only 12 percent of youngsters agreed with the statement, ‘I am an important person’. By the end of the Eighties, that figure had risen to 80 per cent. I think we can all guess what it is now… Children leaving school today no longer want to be doctors or lawyers or architects. All I ever hear is ‘I wanna be famous’, or ‘ I wanna be a celeb.’”

She warns: “Just as power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, so fame corrupts and megastardom can destroy….”

  • Justin Bieber Meets Crying Three-Year-Old Girl From YouTube Video

Wishes do come true! Justin Bieber came face-to-face with a very special fan earlier this month, a little lady we affectionately like to call “Crying YouTube Kid.” Think of her as the preschool set’s much cuter, but equally obsessed answer to Chris Crocker. In the most severe case of Bieber Fever we’ve seen yet, a video of a three-year-old named Cody crying over 15-year-old Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber went viral two weeks ago after her mom and big sis decided to share a hilarious, cute, and mildly disturbing video of the emotional tot overwhelmed by her “love” for the heartthrob.

The clip has gone on to garner more than 1.7 million views on YouTube.

Never one to snub his harem of screaming stalkers-in-training, Justin personally dried young Cody’s tears when he swung by her family’s pad before hitting Paris last week. On Saturday, the “One Less Lonely Girl” crooner posted this pic to his Twitter page, writing: “Makin faces with Cody, Ciera, and @chynanny325 !! Awsome family and Cody isn’t crying..haha. Happy to surprise them.”

When Cody Met Justin was recorded for a segment that will air on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live this Monday, March 1.

  • Lindsey Vonn “Law & Order” Guest Appearance

Rumor: Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn is taking the “Law” into her own hands with a guest spot on her favorite television cop drama. The stunning ski champ, 25, is in chats to make an appearance on NBC’s veteran crime show — and TV’s long-running scripted drama — Law & Order, The National Enquirer claims.

Vonn won the hearts of Americans when she overcame an injury to win Gold in the women’s downhill skiing as well as a Bronze medal in the Super-G at this month’s 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

“This is a dream come true — both for the network and for Lindsey,” a insider divulged. “Lindsey is absolutely crazy for Law & Order. She joked that it was part of her training for the downhill event.”

A self-professed L&O buff, Lindsey relaxed before the Olympics by watching several hours of Law & Order DVDs. Vonn’s deal to appear on the show has been on the table for more than a year, according to TV industry tipsters.

So just what will Lindsey’s big Law & Order debut entail? Will we get to see America’s Golden Girl playing an abused prostitute? Perhaps the victim of a love triangle gone awry in a storyline “Ripped From The Headlines?” Actually, executives at NBC and series producers would like to have Lindsey play herself: “They suggested she could be in an episode where a fellow female skier is found murdered, and Lindsey is interviewed by detectives.”

Law & Order roducers are now just days away from getting Lindsey on-board for a guest spot, which they’re hoping to film in New York City before the show’s 20th season finale this May.

  • Andrew Koenig Hanged Himself From Tree

New details are emerging in the death of former Growing Pains actor Andrew Koenig. Koenig committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, about a mile from downtown, a source “close to the investigation” told E! News this weekend.

Andrew — a 41-year-old described by friends as a compassionate vegan — is best remembered “Boner,” best friend of Kirk Cameron’s Mike Seaver on the popular ’80s sitcom. His father, actor Walter Koenig, who starred as Pavel Chekov in the television series Star Trek, said Thursday that his son took his own life. A search party of about 10 of Andrew’s friends decided to search for the severely-depressed Andrew in the park and broke up into teams to comb through the vast area. Shortly before noon, one of the teams discovered the body, sources tell E!:

“Koenig was discovered in a densely wooded area of native pines and brush, so deep into the forest off Stanely Park’s Bridle Path, one of dozens of trails in the 1,000-acre area, that it appeared to the search party that ‘Andrew didn’t want to be found,’ the source said. The person who found him then alerted the other searchers via cell phone, after which Koenig’s father, Walter, came to what was described as a “grisly” scene and identified his son…..”

During Thursday’s press conference, Walter Koenig made a tearful plea to anyone considering suicide:

“…There are people out there who really care. You may not think so, and ultimately it may not be enough. But there are people who really, really care…..”

Sex and the City actor Chris Noth and Jersey Shore stars Vinny Guadagnino and Snooki Polizzi were caught up in the terrifying incident after the glass atrium collapsed on partygoers attending a Purim bash at the Sony Building, where around 300 guests gathered to celebrate the Jewish festival.

A spokesman for the New York City Fire Department says the evening turned to disaster when the glass ceiling of the atrium caved in under the weight of ice and snow that had been collecting on the roof since the start of a very snowy winter in the Big Apple. The collapse sent dangerous shards flying into the lobby below.

The spokesman said no one was seriously hurt, but four of the injured were taken to nearby Roosevelt Hospital with minor injuries.

Snooki, took to her Twitter.com page to tell fans of the terrifying accident, writing: “OMG roof just collapsed (sic). We thought the DJ was beatin’ the beat hardcore but nope, the roof couldn’t handle Snooki and Vin.”
