  • Vonage for AT&T and T-Mobile

Seemingly out of nowhere Vonage has just entered the Android game. Usually when a company as big as Vonage has plans of introducing a new app there is some sort of press release or even beta testing before hand. Not Vonage, today they released and Android app that is only available for T-Mobile and AT&T Android based handsets.

“We are focused on ensuring that our customers can enjoy all the benefits of their Vonage service from any location using any device that can access the Internet,” said Michael Tempora, senior vice president of product management. “We will continue to expand our offerings in 2010 to include a robust set of voice and messaging services that utilize Wi-Fi and 3G wireless networks.”

    Market Description:

“Download Vonage Mobile to your AT&T/T-Mobile Android device and save on international calling! For unlimited calls to over 60 countries, get Vonage World Mobile – no PINs and no contract. Or, opt for Vonage Mobile Pay Per Use and get low international rates. U.S. Wi-Fi calls included for FREE.”

Vonage is a free app, if you have the service at home I highly recommend you add this app to your collection. And you can make Wi-Fi calls right from the app.

  • T-Mobile UK expecting 10,000 HTC Desire’s next week

Yes, the saga continues. The launch of the HTC Desire in the UK has been a huge mess so far. First it’s ready to go, and then there has been delay after delay. T-Mobile may come to the rescues soon with this large shipment of handsets.

T-Mobile is expecting 10,000 HTC Desires to arrive on Wednesday of next week. These additional handsets will be sent to users that are still waiting on their shipment to arrive. So, if you have been waiting on your order, you have a short week left before it is, hopefully in your hands.

A comment from a user at T-Mobile’s forum:

“I have just been informed by a T-Mo store manager (chippenham) that they’re expecting to get stock in store on Wednesday. 10,000 handsets are on their way from HTC as we speak and should get to the T-Mo central distribution/warehouse a few days before Wednesday, fulfilling phone and online orders before the remainder gets filtered down to the high street stores”

  • myTouch Slide, Drops By The FCC

Guess it won’t be long now, the myTouch Slide could be right around the corner. Lately the FCC has been a great source for leaked phones. This one even has a picture of the device with the back door off. These filing confirmed this device for T-Mobile, which we already knew it would land. There were also a few specs mentioned in papers as well.

This smartphone runs on the WCDMA Band IV for 3G, which is T-Mobiles AWS spectrum. It has 320×480 display, most likely the screen will be another 3.2 inch, 3.5 is possible. And continuing the trend of newer smartphone’s, it has an optical track pad with push button, the camera now has flash. There’s an ARM 11 processor, 1300mAh battery 3.5mm jack and comes in red, white, or black. This device is rumored to be released in the middle of May.

April 29th will be a big day for all you Verizon wireless customers. The HTC Incredible has been confirmed for a Best Buy release on that date. A lot of you have been waiting for a Verizon compatible Nexus One and this may as close as you can get to the Nexus.

Phonearena has gotten their hands on a few inside document for Best buy employees. Along with a few other devices, the Incredible is listed for release on the 29th. Verizon may release it themselves even earlier than that. Looks like it going to be an exciting few weeks for you Verizon customers, let the countdown begin.

  • 2.1 For Samsung Moment has been Leaked

Looks like the Samsung Moment may be joining the ranks of Android 2.1 soon. The official OTA has been leaked earlier today. Not one but two versions of the update have been leaked over at the SDX developer’s site.

The two versions are ECLAIR.DC23 and ECLAIR.DD03. Most users are saying ECLAIR.DD03 is the better of the two. Although, some users are reporting issues with the market other than that it seems pretty stable a solid. So, if you don’t mind wiping your phone or potentially bricking, head over to the SDX and give it a go.

  • myTouch Slide Shows Up In RadioShack Systems

So far in the world of Android, the myTouch has been the most popular series of devices on the market. There are 3 versions available now including the hot “Fender Edition”. Soon, this slider will join the myTouch ranks at T-Mobile.

Engadget has gotten their hands on a spy shot of Radio Shack’s inventory. In the picture the device is listed as coming soon. Initial rumors peg this device for an early May release and looks like it’s on track to meet or beat that. Some are calling this the true successor of the G1 but I’m keeping my hopes up for a real G2 with a full 5 row QWERTY, 1.5 CPU 1GB of ROM and Ram and an AMOLED 3.7 or better screen. I can “Dream” cant I?

  • Is Orange The European Version Of AT&T?

We’re all aware of AT&T’s recent Android releases with certain Google apps removed or replaced. These are the most restricted Android devices on the market today. Orange may be following suit with their upcoming Android devices. Google Maps, Youtube, Gmail, Gtalk and possibly Search too will all be removed in their devices.

These core Android apps will be replaced by Orange bloatware. Most people buy Android devices to have access to Google’s apps on the mobile. There is a few things to look forward too from Orange’s Androids. Unlike AT&T, you will be able to install apps from places other than the Android market and the upcoming HTC Desire will include all of Google’s apps.

    Statement from Orange:

“We customize the software to phones colors of Orange and we add our own applications, without depleting product features”

    – If the mail application (eg Gmail) was actually installed by default, subscribers could exchange e-mails without supplementing their package including a simple formula “Unlimited Internet”. But this is not the case with the Orange software alternative that uses protocols not included in the package Internet access! All calls made from that application are billed out of bundle. Unless you opt for the package “Internet, e-mail and unlimited Wi-Fi, charged 11 euros more … Even in this case, we must make a cross to Gmail. This is exactly the same thing with MSN Messenger which replaces Gtalk …

This seems to be a way for them to sell unlimited internet packages to potential customers. moves like these will sway potential users to go elsewhere for their devices.

  • Android-Based ICD Gemini is Most Feature-Complete Tablet Yet

The title is a statement made by our friends over at Engadget and I totally agree. This thing is a monster. If you wasted your money on an iPad, that that crap back and wait on this. Besides being Android, this thing is awesome in every way.

Let’s see if I have enough space to list all the features of this device. its capable of 1080p video, replaceable 40Wh battery, an SD card reader, FM radio, GPS, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MicroUSB connectivity to PCs and USB peripherals, stereo speakers, and dual webcams — a 2 megapixel front-facing unit and a 5 megapixel auto focusing snapper on the back. That’s not all folks; it has a multi-touch screen, 3G, 1,366 x 768 resolution and is flash compatible. Did I mention how beautiful it is?

  • CallTrack Lists All Calls On Your Google Calendar

For all you people that love to be organized, this is a great app for you. This app will log every call you get or you can select a particular number to log. It’s a very lightweight app and when you open it, all there’s only a few options to choose from. So if you like bells and whistles, this may not be for you. But if you’re like me and want to get right to the point, then you’re going to love this. It’s a free app but it’s only available to Android 2.0.1 and up devices.

    Market Description:

“CallTrack logs your phone activity to your Google Calendar. You can select the type of calls to log (incoming, outgoing, and missed) and the calendar to log them in. You can also dump your current call log to your calendar.

  • Preorder Your X10 – Roger’s Wireless

If you’re not aware, Roger’s Wireless is expecting preorders for the Sony X10. It’s offered for $149.99 with a 3-year contract and if you sign up for preorder you will receive a free Sony Ericsson MW600 wireless headset. The last preorders will be taken April 14th.

This phone feature’s a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 4 inch display, and 8.1 megapixel camera and a custom UI by Sony dubbed, Rachael. If you stay in the US, and want this, it has the same 3G bands as AT&T. but, with the recent release of the Droid, Nexus One and all the upcoming 2.1 Android device, I would think that there aren’t a lot of us that want this anymore. It ships with Android 1.6 and it is not capable of multi-touch. These two factors are deal breakers for most. But, if you’ve been waiting for this to release, head over to Roger’s and place your order.

  • Sharp ISO1 Android Smartbook – Video

At the end of last month we told you about Sharp’s plans to offer two Android MID’s with full QWERTY keyboards. Specs and pictures are here. Recently, two videos surfaced with these new devices in action. This video was posted by Gigazine.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The screen looks pretty good and navigation seems smooth. Multi-touch is a welcome addition also and a must have for some. The video lacked substance; I would’ve loved to see the keyboard in action and a few other things like the market, maps and maybe a few apps. Hopefully the next video will show these things and more.

  • T-Mobile stores receiving Nexus One accessories?

We’d prefer to see the actual phone in stores but having the accessories there is as good as it going to get in the near future. A tipster has sent the guys over at TmoToday pictures of a few accessories for the Nexus One. Is the phone coming soon? I sure hope so but for now let’s enjoy these little treats.

As you can see from the pictures, the word’s Google or Nexus one isn’t anywhere on the box. These accessories have been branded with HTC only. Hopefully this is the first step to us being able to see and play with the device in stores. Who knows, maybe the dock and future docks will be available soon as well.

It also features an 833MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor and it run Android 1.5.

  • Is This The LG Aloha?

LG is rumored to be working on a high-end Android device codenamed Aloha. So far there have not been any pictures of the device. The handset in the picture is the LG LU2300 and it is set for release in Korea. Could this be the rumored Aloha? Most of the specs match the rumored specs except the product number, C710 is rumored to be the Aloha and this device is the LU2300.

    Specs:

    *1GHZ Snap Dragon
    *Android 2.1
    *AMOLED LCD 3.5 inch
    *WVGA (800X480)
    *5 Megapixel Camera
*GPS, Wi-Fi, DMB, augmented reality, Divx (720p) support
    *Optical Trackball

Back in February we told you about the existence of the LU2300 and LG’s plans to include an augmented reality browser. This browser will likely be similar to the Layar app. At that time there was no pictures of the device until now. Could this Korean handset be renamed Aloha for a US launch? It has the QWERTY and all the specs match, I couldn’t find any solid evidence that this has 802.11n so guess we’ll have to wait and see how this pans out.
