Fearing Obama agenda, states push to expand gun rights
Posted: 02.24.10 01:32 AMWhen President Obama took office, gun rights advocates sounded the alarm, warning that he intended to strip them of their arms and ammunition. And yet the opposite is happening. Mr. Obama has been largely silent on the issue while states are engaged in a new and largely successful push for expanded gun rights, even passing measures that have been rejected in the past.

Gun control, an ideology to die for
Posted: 02.23.10 01:29 AMIt is a truism to say that there are many anti gun ideologues among our educational elites. But few are as honest as Doug Van Gorder — a math teacher at Brockton High School. He admits that he would rather lose a child than exercise his right to defend himself with a gun. In the wake of a recent school shooting, he wrote this in a Letter to the Editor of the Boston Globe.

Kopel: The story of the armed community organizers
Posted: 02.23.10 01:30 AMA few weeks ago, I linked to a picture of civil rights activist John Salter being attacked by a mob during a lunch counter sit in during the 1960s. I also linked to a newspaper op-ed in which Salter explained how he and other civil rights workers used firearms for protection from Klansmen and other terrorists — when Klansmen knew that a homicide would not be witnessed by the news media. Since that blog post drew great interest from the readers, I thought that some persons might be interested in the longer version of Salter’s history of the role of armed self defense in the Civil Rights Movement.

Clinton once again credits NRA for 1994 midterm defeats
Posted: 02.23.10 01:34 AMClinton added that the National Rifle Association also played a bigger role than it’s credited in turning over Congress during the 1994 Republican revolution. "They were mad about this whole weapons ban and the Brady Bill, and they probably took 15 of our House members out. That was their number, they said between 15 and 20, and I’d say, at least on the low side, they were right," he said.
