Due to our recent growth, we are looking for an advertising sales pro to help take our site sponsorship and event sales to the next level. In this role, you’ll work directly with some of the leading technology and B to B companies to build customized online and event advertising and sponsorship programs. A minimum of 3 years prior advertising/sponsorship sales experience including face-to-face sales experience is required along with a demonstrated track record of closing sales and meeting quotas. Manager, Advertising Operations and Sponsor Support
This job is for a super organizer. In this fast-paced role, you’ll manage advertising inventory and coordinate ad programs with customers and external ad network partners. Duties will include maintaining inventory reports for the website, RSS, and email newsletters, managing Google ad manager and analytics dashboard, generating reports for clients on advertising performance (impressions, page views, clicks, etc), tracking contracts and insertion orders and acting as internal administrator for CRM system. As a key member of the sales and business development team, you will also assist us in brainstorming new advertising and sponsorship ideas, help to evaluate new sources of site revenue via external partners and interface with our technical team to implement new programs. Finally, you’ll support VentureBeat events by developing and executing email marketing programs, creating sales collateral and coordinating sponsorship programs. Being able to monitor and measure social and digital media in real time is a vital component for brands looking to interact and be apart of the online conversations taking place everyday.

Today, social and digital media tracking platform Trendrr and social influencer measurement platform Klout agreed to share social data. The deal, first announced at the PluggedIn conference, will integrate Klout’s influencer data into Trendrr’s intelligence platform. Klout’s data tracks Twitter users and their content, how people interact with that content and the size and composition of their networks.

Created by Wiredset, Trendrr now tracks volume, sentiment, location, demographic and influencers for chosen “trends” within its platform. The company notes agencies, networks, brands and motion picture companies as customers looking at social media’s impact on sales, savings and brand equity.

A company representative notes that executives at Trendrr and Klout have not disclosed the exact terms of the deal, but it appears that Klout will be driving Trendrr’s  influence engine, and the two will explore the ways Klout can leverage the data Trendrr structures (from over 50 sites on the social web).

Hey humans! So Hastings was telling us the truth after all — the Nintendo Wii will be joining the other two game consoles to stream Netflix, starting in early Spring. Like the PS3, a special Netflix “instant-streaming” disc will be required for the Wii, but there’s no mention of HD playback which isn’t surprising. There’ll be no additional fees for Wii owners who are already on “a Netflix subscription that costs at least $9 a month.” Time for a game of Mario Kart to celebrate, no?

We know the rule of thumb is to not trust everything on Craigslist, but when an unreleased refresh of the cool-looking Jawbone Bluetooth headset pops up for sale, it’d be wrong to ignore it. HTCPedia managed to get cozy with Mr. Blurrycam and got a few shots of the supposedly forthcoming Jawbone Icon, which appears to don the same skin pattern as the Jawbone Prime but in a form factor similar to the original Jawbone — quite an odd decision so we remain skeptical, but it’d be a welcoming addition for the market nevertheless. A couple of close-up shots after the break.

I first heard about stevia from my secretary about ten years ago. At that time, it was available as a liquid extract, and I couldn’t figure out how to use it in recipes. I’m not a huge fan of zero calorie sweeteners, and stevia has not been without controversy; however, Stevia Extract In the Raw may change my mind. You can use it cup for cup as you would sugar in any recipe.

Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni is an herb in the compositae family that grows as a small shrub in parts of Paraguay and Brazil. The glycosides in its leaves make it incredibly sweet, a property that is unique among the nearly 300 species of stevia plants. Stevia has been used to sweeten beverages and medicines for over 400 years. A scientist named Antonio Bertoni first recorded its use by native tribes in 1887…

A tsunami warning was in place for Haiti, Cuba, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic, with the first waves predicted to hit Haiti shortly.

The ambassador told media he was heartbroken as he had just spoken by telephone with a senior presidential aide who described scenes of chaos and devastation.

“He had to stop his car just about half an hour ago, and take to the streets, start walking, but he said houses were crumbling on the right side of the street and the left side of the street,” Joseph said.

“He does not know whether he would reach his home, not knowing what he would find, because he had a bridge to cross to get there.”

A US Coast Guard spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson in Florida said they did not have much information yet, saying they had not yet been able to contact their office in Haiti.

“We haven’t taken any measure in the area so far. We don’t have any information rather that what we got from the news,” she told media.

“We couldn’t contact our officer there yet, so we are waiting to have more information in a couple of hours.”

Already the poorest nation in the Americas, Haiti has been hit by a series of disasters recently and was battered by hurricanes in 2008.

The country was also gripped by a tense political standoff in April 2008 amid riots over skyrocketing food prices.

Seventy percent of Haiti’s population lives on less than two dollars per day and half of its 8.5 million people are unemployed.

According to official figures, food insecurity already affects more than a quarter of Haiti’s population, some 1.9 million people, with women and children the worst affected.

The Food and Agriculture Organization has designated Haiti as one of the world’s most economically vulnerable countries.

The WFP serves one meal a day to more than 500,000 Haitian schoolchildren, providing them with what is often their only meal of the day.

The organization also feeds 100,000 women who are pregnant or breastfeeding and 50,000 children under the age of five.

Since mid-2004, the Brazilian-led MINUSTAH has been keeping the peace in the impoverished Caribbean island nation.

(RTTNews) – Packaged foods company Kraft Foods Inc. (KFT: News ), which has made a hostile takeover bid for U.K.-based confectioner Cadbury plc (CBY: News ,CBRY.L: News ), raised its earnings outlook for fiscal year 2009 Tuesday evening, citing strong operating gains as well as a significant increase in marketing investments compared to the prior year. Kraft’s announcement comes after Cadbury rejected its bid earlier in the day, citing its own “outstanding” financial performance in 2009 and expectations of a strong business momentum in 2010.

Kraft now forecasts earnings of at least $2.00 per share, up from its prior expectation of at least $1.97 per share. On average, ten analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect the company to report earnings of $2.00 per share for the full year. Analysts’ estimates typically exclude special items.

Irene Rosenfeld, Chairman and CEO of Kraft Foods said, “As we complete our turnaround, we’re delivering high-quality earnings growth, despite the difficult economic environment, and we’re doing this while continuing to invest in our brands and businesses. As a result, we’re well positioned to deliver sustainable top-tier performance, with or without Cadbury.”

Although the tough economy has reflected on all sectors, food makers are benefiting from the eat-at-home trend. The reduction in ingredient costs is another positive factor for these companies. Northfield, Illinois-based Kraft manufactures packaged food products and grocery products. Its offerings include Kraft cheeses, Oscar Mayer meats, Philadelphia cream cheese, Maxwell House and Jacobs coffee, Milka chocolates and LU biscuits. Kraft, with about 100,000 employees and annual revenues of $42 billion, is the world’s second largest food company.

Among Kraft’s peers, ConAgra Foods Inc. (CAG: News ) in mid-December raised its earnings outlook for fiscal year 2010, citing the company’s strong performance in the first half of the year. ConAgra raised its forecast for earnings from continuing operations, excluding items impacting comparability, to nearly $1.73 per share from the prior outlook of nearly $1.70 per share.

In early November, Kraft reported a 39.5% decline in profit for the third quarter from the prior year, when results were boosted by huge gains from the divestiture of discontinued operations. The company’s net income for the third quarter dropped to $824 million or $0.55 per share from $1.4 billion or $0.91 per share in the year-ago quarter. Net revenue for the quarter declined 5.7% to $9.80 billion from $10.40 billion in the same quarter last year, hurt mainly by the impact of a stronger U.S. dollar.

At that time, Kraft had raised its earnings guidance for 2009 to at least $1.97 per share from the prior guidance of at least $1.93 per share, to reflect strong year-to-date profit performance and a reduction in its full-year effective tax rate.

About a week later, Kraft announced its firm intention to make an offer to acquire the whole of the issued and to be issued share capital of Cadbury. Kraft offered to acquire Cadbury for 300 pence in cash and 0.2589 new Kraft shares for each Cadbury share. The company’s offer valued Cadbury at GBP 9.8 billion, or $16.3 billion, below the GBP 10.2 billion offered earlier in September, before Kraft shares slid and the dollar slumped badly versus the sterling.

Cadbury immediately rejected the “derisory offer” and encouraged shareholders to turn down the bid, noting it is worse than a previous offer due to the fall in the Kraft share price since September.

In early January, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK-A, BRK-B), Kraft’s largest shareholder, said it voted “no” on Kraft’s proposal to authorize the issuance of up to 370 million shares to facilitate the acquisition of Cadbury, as it believes that the Kraft share is a very expensive “currency” to be used in an acquisition. Kraft had said that it would sell the assets of its North American pizza business to Nestle (NSRGY.PK, NSTR.L) for a total consideration of $3.7 billion and would use the net proceeds to increase the cash portion of the offer to Cadbury shareholders.

Kraft must make its final offer for Cadbury by January 19. Cadbury shareholders have until February 2 to decide whether to accept Kraft’s bid.
Earlier on Tuesday, Cadbury once again said that its board has unanimously rejected the “wholly inadequate offer” from Kraft and continues to urge its shareholders not to take any action in relation to the offer.

Cadbury’s decision followed its “outstanding” financial performance in 2009 as well as the company’s expectation of a strong business momentum in 2010. The company also said it believes that its standalone value has risen further since Kraft’s approach on September 4.

This was the second response document from the board of Cadbury after Kraft’s formal offer on December 4, 2009. Stating further reasons to reject Kraft offer, Cadbury said its 2009 performance was helped by strong growth in the fourth quarter and the savings generated by the company’s Vision into Action business plan.

(RTTNews) – Media reports last week had said that Italian chocolate maker Ferrero SpA was in talks with Hershey Co. (HSY) about a possible takeover bid for Cadbury. Ferrero was also said to be discussing the possibility of a joint offer with buyout firms including Blackstone Group (BX).

KFT closed Tuesday’s regular trading session at $29.29, up $0.49 or 1.70% on a volume of 19.56 million shares. In the past 52 weeks, the stock has been trading in a range of $20.81-$29.84.

Subaru Impreza WRX STI A-Line Type S – Click above for high-res image gallery

Another day, another new special-edition Subaru Impreza. There are worse things, after all. This one, however, doesn’t quite have the substance of the recently unveiled WRX STI R205. Whereas the R205 is a real fire-breathing monster of a hatch, the long-winded Subaru Impreza WRX STI A-Line Type S (try saying that three times fast) is mostly a trim package.

That package includes 18-inch gunmetal rims, gold Brembo brake calipers and Recaro buckets in a cockpit decked out with contrasting red top-stitch and a 10-speaker audio system. It definitely looks sharp, but the Japanese consumers that are able to buy it shouldn’t expect much in the way of heightened performance over the already stonking STI. The Type S commands a 3,255,000 yen (circa $35k USD) sticker price in its domestic market, so if you want to have a look and you don’t live in the Land of the Rising Sun, you had better check it out in our high-res image gallery below.

Samsung’s new 64GB flash NAND and 32GB microSD card may be the first of each to market, bringing lots more storage space to phones like the iPhone, Droid and Nexus One as well as other handheld devices. Big win!

We don’t have specific information on either of the products (no pricing, availability, or speed) but we do know that mass production on the 32GB microSD card should start next month, which means with any luck we’ll start seeing them in the first half of this year. The 64GB NAND (moviNAND, technically) has been in production since December 2009, so it should hit even a little sooner.

What does this mean? 64GB iPhones (Apple uses Samsung NAND for the iPhone, so this chip could well show up in an iPhone). 32GB cards for the Droid and Nexus One. We knew this stuff was coming (just as we know those numbers will double again in another year or two) but, well, now they’re here! Press release below. [Samsung]

SEOUL, Korea – January 13, 2009 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced semiconductor technology solutions, today announced two high-density memory solutions for mobile devices. The new storage solutions – a 64-gigabyte (GB) moviNANDTM memory device and a 32GB micro secure digital (microSD) memory card – satisfy mobile handset designers’ requirements for advanced compact high-density memory.

“Samsung’s high-density memory solutions bring the storage capacity levels of computing systems to small, mobile devices,” said Dong-Soo Jun, executive vice president, memory marketing, Samsung Electronics.

He added, “The 64GB embedded memory, moviNAND, and the 32GB microSD card each greatly expand the data storage density of mobile devices, meeting customers’ memory requirements and ushering in a new era of mobile and IT device capacity growth.”

The memory solutions are based on Samsung’s advanced 32 gigabit (Gb) NAND flash. The 64GB moviNAND, which measures 1.4mm in height, consists of 16 30nm-class 32Gb MLC NAND chips and a controller. The 17-die stack was achieved by using 30-micron thick chips and advanced package technology. With the new 64GB solution, Samsung’s proprietary embedded memory, moviNAND, is now available in 64GB, 32GB, 16GB, 8GB and 4GB densities.

The 32GB microSD card, developed this month, stacks eight 32Gb NAND components and a card controller. The industry’s highest capacity, production-ready microSD card is enabled by the use of Samsung’s advanced 30-nm class 32Gb NAND flash memory technology. Previously, the highest density microSD card in production had a 16GB capacity and was based on 40nm-class 16Gb NAND. The new 32GB card is 1mm-thick. The portion of the card that is inserted into a handset measures just 0.7 mm in height.

According to market research firm iSuppli, the global NAND flash memory market for 32GB and higher memory cards is forecast to be 530 million units in 2010 and reach 9.5 billion units by 2013 (in 16Gb equivalent units).

Samsung’s new 64GB moviNAND has been in mass production from December 2009, while the 32GB microSD is now being sampled with OEMs, with mass production expected next month.

Digamos que no es un vehículo mayoritario, que llegue a mucha gente, y ni siquiera la gente encargada de BMW estará segura acerca de su suceso. Pero entre tanto revival de coche deportivo de épocas pasadas, un aire fresco de coche europeo de moda 40 años atrás, nunca está de más.
