  • Feedback From You… The Reader

    image

    Hi guys. If you have yet to notice, we have had many news articles on the latest applications and updates, and we would like feedback on that. For the last 3 days, I have been trying a new way of writing news. I have allowed Surur to keep all his news articles and I do strictly application news.

    I would like to ask you guys a few questions.

    1) Do you like this amount of application news?
    2) Do you think my plan to do only Application news good or bad?
    3) What changes would you like to see not only from me, but the site?

    Thanks for the answers. I will go through all  the comments and see what to do. We are always trying our best to improve your Windows Mobile experience and keep you up to date on all things WM… So this feedback will allow us to do that to the fullest.

  • Iceland’s Ash Cloud May Let Climate Alarmists Off Hook by Doug L. Hoffman

    Article Tags: Doug L. Hoffman, Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre, World Temperatures

    March 20, the Eyjafjallajökull volcano began erupting after slumbering for almost 190 years. The eruption also brought a threat of floods and earthquakes, while the resulting plume of volcanic ash shutdown the European airline industry, costing an estimated $200 million a day. In the short-term, the volcano has been bad for Northern Europe and given a boost to Iceland’s tourist industry, but there are larger questions involved. With tedious predictability, a number of climate change alarmists quickly claimed that the volcano was caused by global warming. A more likely outcome is a cool Northern Hemisphere summer caused by airborne ash—which could give the alarmists an excuse for the continued lack of global temperature rise.

    The Eyjafjallajökull eruption is the country’s first since 2004, and the most dramatic since Hekla, Iceland’s most active volcano, erupted in 2000. Though past eruptions have caused great devastation in Iceland, the bankrupt nation has enthusiastically welcomed the volcano inspired tourist boom. The widely publicized eruption has made the Eyjafjallajökull volcano a must-visit destination for thrill-seekers from around the world. Thousands of people have made the trip to the volcano, 75 miles (120 kilometers) east of Reykjavi, to view the site where ash and red-hot lava spew from a crater between two glaciers. The trip can be expensive, even without airfare to Iceland—round trip on Icelandair, New York to Reykjavik, booked three weeks in advance with a minimum one week stay, is around US $699. Once there, local excursion prices range from €55 ($75), for a bus trip to view the volcano from a distance, to €200 ($270) for a “superjeep” ride almost to the rim of the crater.

  • Favorite App On My HD2

    image Getting my device to the right settings and app stock is always the hardest thing about getting a new device, but thanks to i3v5y, it was easy to find my favorite. His application LMT launcher from what I have experienced so far is the most important app installed on my device, and makes the device a whole lot better and my friends that own the iPhone very envious.

    If you are not aware of what the application does, its very simple. It adds multi touch functions, and app launcher to your device. This application has been updated recently and the new updated features are as follows:

    0.7
    Changelog:

    – some small performance optimizations
    – fixed killProcess (now the fg app is closed properly)
    – fixed problem with overlay timer
    – prepared to be rotation aware
    – added new internal command:
    – Controller -> activates the multitouch controller/dpad (default for "Square" gesture). Use it for FPSEce, morphgear, etc… The controller converts the touches to key events. You can define the keys to be sent via reg value "ControllerKeys": Down, up, left, right, 1, 2, A, B, C, D, X, Y. The button "R" toggles between portrait and landscape mode; the button "x" deactivates the controller mode. The reg value "ControllerVibrate" defines the vibrate status: 0=off, 1=default, >1=time in ms. For example the FPSEce config (fpse.ini):
    [JOY0KEY]

    Up=38
    Down=40
    Left=37
    Right=39
    Start=13
    Select=12
    Triangle=96
    Quadrangle=97
    Circle=98
    Cross=99
    L1=0
    L2=100
    R1=0
    R2=101

    0.6
    – fixed bug in gesture engine (sometimes wrong touch value assignments for mt gestures)
    – added tap and hold feature for mt gestures. Activate it via reg key "TapAndHoldGestureSupport".
    – value = 1 -> activated with default bounding box for tap area (width and height = 30 pixel)
    – value > 1 -> activated with user defined bounding box in pixel
    – added four new internal commands:
    – PrevApp -> switch to previous app (Alt-Tab feature)
    – NextApp -> switch to next app (Alt-Tab feature)
    – Home -> switch to Homescreen
    – Rotate -> rotate screen
    – added BlackListSwitch to be able to exclude processes from TaskSwitcher
    – added default values for all gestures

    0.5
    – enabled compressed cab
    – all reg values can be modified during runtime
    – back command now supports Opera Back & normal back behavior
    – removed BlackListStart and added BlackListAll to be able to disable LMT completely for a fg app (e.g. Morphgear)
    – removed hard coded gesture commands. All internal commands can be mapped to any gesture now. Just add the following strings to the gesture in the registry for an internal command:
    – CloseLMT -> closes LMT
    – CloseApp -> closes the fg app
    – Learn -> activates learn mode
    – Back -> sends back key
    – Start -> Start menu
    – Lock -> Lock phone
    – Phone -> Phone app
    – Up -> sends Dpad up
    – Down -> sends Dpad down
    – Left -> sends Dpad left
    – Right -> sends Dpad right

    You can download and install this application from XDA.

  • Beijing 2010: Geely Emgrand GE plug-in hybrid limo

    Geely Emgrand GE – Click above for high-res image gallery

    Another entry that Geely has planned for its new Emgrand premium sub-brand is the GE limousine. Like many of Geely’s new models, the GE has a very prominent grille but the rest of the design looks otherwise well-proportioned and attractive. With a 214-inch body sitting on a 124-inch wheelbase, the GE is a big car targeted at executives who prefer to be driven rather than get behind the wheel. The Geely Emgrand GE can be equipped with either a rear bench contoured for two passengers or a single large seat flanked by extra storage compartments.

    Underneath, the GE has the same plug-in hybrid powertrain featured in the GT coupe. That means it gets a 2.4-liter inline-four that producing 160 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. The electric drive consists of a pair of 27.5 kilowatt, 132 pound-foot hub-motors for all-wheel-drive capability. The GE is targeted for 2015 introduction.

    Geely Emgrand GT – Click above for high-res image gallery

    The Geely Emgrand GT is another example of the automaker’s apparent seriousness about being considered a top-flight player in the industry. This coupe features classic sports car proportions and aside from the overdone grille, it looks quite attractive. The GT comes from Geely’s new top-level Emgrand sub-brand and boasts some impressive specs. It’s reportedly a plug-in hybrid with a 2.4-liter inline-four that churns out 160 horsepower and 165 pound-feet on its own.

    That output is supplemented by a pair of 27.5-kilowatt hub motors that give the GT all-wheel-drive capability. Those motors each add 132 foot-pounds of torque as well. It’s not clear, however, which axle is being driven by the combustion engine and which gets the motors. The Emgrand GT is targeted for a 2014 introduction.

  • Next2Me Receives Next Update

    When you move to a new area or go out to vacation… finding places to eat or visit becomes a hard task, imagebut this application called Next2Me can help you. The application is a very complicated, easy to use application that uses your GPS to find things around you. It works a little similar to augmented reality on Android devices, but a lot less attractive and intuitive.

    In a recent update, the application added some fixes and even brought in some new features:

    I recently released version 1.2 of my latest App "Next2Me" to the US Windows Marketplace.

    Next2Me uses GPS and shows you all available businesses around you from over 30 categories. You can view the results on a map, show detailed information. You can also call the target business, send the detail information to your friends by Mail or SMS or save the business to your contact list all by only one click!

    And here is the latest BETA version of the upcoming Next2Me 1.3.

    [UPDATE]
    You can now manually choose between miles and meters. And for all US and Candians, Next2Me is now searching for "Gas stations"

    [UPDATE]
    I changed the GPS code a bit because some users get an exception on some devices.

    [UPDATE]
    Again changed the GPS device detection.

    [UPDATE 04/25/2010]
    o RC1 released
    o Next2Me languages: DE, EN, FR, NL
    o A menu to tell Next2Me how to search for your GPS device (this will solve several issues, like the exception told by some users and the unwanted bluetooth dialog which is automatically poping up)

    So, have fun with Next2Me and send me your suggestions, critics, etc.

    You can download this application in Windows Mobile Marketplace or over at XDA-developers for free.

  • GTX Revived By Dark Ninja

    image

    If you do not know… GTX was a theme created and maintained by my friend El condor and his team mate Kamill. However, they stopped working on the theme but luckily Dark Ninja has taken over and will continue working on the graphics. Him and his team of  designers have taken it upon themselves to continue working on the design and from the new look, I think they have a lot more to come.

    He had this to say:

    As you all may know already, after the awsome work ElCondor and Kamill put to the theme further development was cancelled. Therefore i’m starting this new thread which will carry on development of GTX and help maintain the theme.

    The GTX theme is originally made by ElCondor & Kamill.. Thanks for all their work they originally put in..

    There is obviously a lot of work needed and i dont think anyone would be able to handle it on their own. Therefore we have put together a team for the later releases of the GTX theme.

    Heres a few screenshots. 1st the GTX theme with a few differences. 2nd is the GTX theme with co0kies home tab.

    This is still work in progress so it may differ from the end result.
    (yeah i know there’s loads of screens Sorry :\ 0.o)

    I am excited this theme will stay in production, it has very much to offer and with Dark Ninja working on it, we know it will be pushed to the max.

    Stay up to date here

    Hot Wheels “Speed Machines” Mix E – Click above for high-res image gallery

    If you’re a casual die-cast car collector, any mundane shopping trip is an opportunity to grow that pile of toy cars you have taking up space in your house that could probably put to better use. (According to your significant other, at least!) If you have kids, there’s that to contend with, too – any unopened toy car they come across will soon be an opened toy car. After all, how do you explain to doe-eyed Junior that really, Daddy would prefer you don’t open that green Matchbox Porsche 914 that took two months to find at the store?

    Now, the standard buck-a-pop Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars are pretty nicely detailed, but those same castings look a lot better when they’re re-decoed and packaged as pricier, step-up subsets sold separately from the regular assortments. Case in point, the Hot Wheels “Speed Machines” cars. These 1:64 scale cars (the same size as regular Hot Wheels) have much more accurate paint and detailing, with better wheels, and yours truly has already succumbed to his inner child on one occasion upon seeing them. Chances are, that won’t be a single-time occurrence, either.

    As demonstrated above, upcoming Speed Machines range additions like the Ferrari 599XX stand ready to separate disposable income from pocket in $2 increments. It and the other cars in the gallery below are part of Speed Machines “Mix E,” which should hit stores in mid-May. Keep your eyes peeled. After all, this is the stuff that makes your desk at work look cooler than the next guy’s.

  • Cleveland Cavaliers versus Chicago Bulls Game 4 ABC TV Over Under NBA Free Pick 4-25

    Our free pick for our forum visitors on Sunday will come from game 4 in the Eastern conference playoff series between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls. Start time from Chicago is at 3:30PM Eastern Time and you can watch it on ABC TV. With our free pick we will play on the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls to play over the total of 195.

    With the good play from the Chicago Bulls backcourt we will see a fast pace in game 4. The Bulls cannot play half court style basketball in this series and when they get an open look they will fire. Shaq does not like to play fast so this plays in our favor as the Bulls will ensure the proper style of play to give them the best shot at winning game 4. The Cavaliers have been able to get points on this Bulls defense so for game 4 I expect another high scoring game. Take the over.

    Bet Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls over 195 points

  • Report: F1 turbine engine proposal being analyzed by FIA?

    Filed under:

    Think F1 racers are more like fighter jets than cars? You’re not far off. Both F1 cars and jets are made primarily of lightweight composites, travel at ludicrous speeds, generate unfathomable Gs of force, have single-seat cockpits, cost millions of dollars, and are developed (and operated) by more engineers than a train yard full of locomotives. And the similarities could be getting even closer if the latest reports are anything to go by.

    After recently reporting on a potential shift to small-displacement turbocharged engines in the sport, Pitpass.com says that a proposal on allowing the use of gas turbine engines is now being looked at by the FIA. The proposal was reportedly submitted by Project 1221, which says it could supply teams with race-ready turbines as soon as 2013 if the FIA were to give it the nod. F1 fanatics may recall that Lotus toyed with turbine power back in the 1970s, but never scored a better finish than eighth place at the 1971 Italian Grand Prix before giving up on the project.

    The incorporation of turbines would bring several benefits while requiring significant re-adjustments to the current formula. Although turbines use more fuel, they require far less maintenance than a conventional internal-combustion engine – especially the highly-stressed units made for F1. Turbines can run on biofuels, allowing F1 to take a step forward as a “green” leader in motorsports. Since turbines cannot, however, be used as a stressed member of a car’s chassis construction – another innovation pioneered, somewhat ironically, by Lotus – teams employing turbine power would have to switch to a space frame chassis design. Any drawbacks would be offset by the turbine’s smaller form.

    Though many teams – complete-package constructors like Ferrari especially – would be hesitant to adopt turbine propulsion, one could easily imagine independents like Red Bull (to say nothing of the reborn Lotus team) jumping at the opportunity. A level playing field would have to be established through equalization regulations with conventional engines, but the people behind Project 1221 say that limiting their turbines’ output would be relatively straightforward, opening the door to multiple engine types in the series. That’s if this idea ever moves anywhere beyond the proposal stage — a pretty big “if” at that.

    Vitamin B12 is an Essential Water Soluble Vitamin

    Vitamin B12 is an essential water soluble vitamin that is commonly found in a variety of foods such as fish, shellfish, meats, and dairy products. Vitamin B12 is frequently used in combination with other B vitamins in a vitamin B complex formulation. It helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells, and is also needed to make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 is bound to the protein in food. Hydrochloric acid in the stomach releases B12 from protein during digestion. Once released, B12 combines with a substance called intrinsic factor (IF) before it is absorbed into the bloodstream.

    Studies have shown that a deficiency of vitamin B12 can lead to abnormal neurologic and psychiatric symptoms. These symptoms may include: ataxia (shaky movements and unsteady gait), muscle weakness, spasticity, incontinence, hypotension, vision problems, dementia, psychoses, and mood disturbances. Researchers report that these symptoms may occur when vitamin B12 levels are just slightly lower than normal and are considerably above the levels normally associated with anemia. People at risk for vitamin B12 deficiency include strict vegetarians, elderly people, and people with increased vitamin B12 requirements associated with pregnancy, thyrotoxicosis, hemolytic anemia, hemorrhage, malignancy, liver or kidney disease.

    Vitamin B12 deficiency is a cause of megaloblastic anemia. In this type of anemia, red blood cells are larger than normal, and the ratio of nucleus size to cell cytoplasm is increased. There are other potential causes of megaloblastic anemia, including folate deficiency or various inborn metabolic disorders. If the cause is B12 deficiency, then treatment with B12 is the standard approach.

    Pernicious anemia (blood abnormality) is a form of anemia that occurs when there is an absence of intrinsic factor, a substance normally present in the stomach. Vitamin B12 binds with intrinsic factor before it is absorbed and used by the body. An absence of intrinsic factor prevents normal absorption of B12 and may result in pernicious anemia. Pernicious anemia treatment is usually lifelong supplemental vitamin B12 given either intramuscularly, intranasally, or by mouth.

    There is evidence that intramuscular injections of 5mg of vitamin B12 given twice per week might improve the general well being and happiness of patients complaining of tiredness or fatigue.

    Vitamin B12 Injections is important for metabolism. Metabolism within the body includes the processes of energy generation and use — including nutrition, digestion, absorption, elimination, respiration, circulation, and temperature regulation. Studies indicate that absorption of Vitamin B12 decreases with an increase in age. Hence, an increased intake of B12 Injections is extremely useful for adults above fifty.

    I’m vegetarian so how can i get vitamin B12 if i don’t eat meat, and can i take vitamin B12 injection?

    every week. and is that enough cause i know that vitamin B12 is stored in liver.

    If you are not vegan, then you can get your B12 from eggs and milk products. Otherwise, many fortified breakfast cereals will provide you with the B12 you need. Injections are possible, but unless you have an extreme case, I don’t think they’re necessary. B12 could be more easily taken in pill form.

  • Toyota confirma recall do Corolla no Brasil
