  • CNH Forms JV with Kamaz

    After back in February German carmaker Daimler announced it has increased its stake in the Russian truck maker Kamaz, another joint venture has been established by the latter with Fiat-owned CNH International.   • Saab Resumes Production at the Trollhattan Plant

    After some one week ago, Saab was announcing new headquarters in Michigan, NA, the newly independent car manufacturer also revealed it has decided to resume car production at its Trollhattan plant yesterday, with the first batch of cars already coming off the production lines.

  • HRT F1 Aims for a Race Finish in Australia

    A new race, a new goal for the newly entered Hispania Racing F1 Team.   • GM Offers New 350/290 HP Deluxe Crate Engine

    U.S. automotive aficionados who like to spend time in their garage now have one more reason to pick up their spanners, as General Motors Performance Parts (GMPP) announced the introduction of a new 350/290 hp Deluxe crate engine.

  • 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX Unveiled

    The North American division of Subaru had just introduced the new 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX models, now with a wider body (similar to that of the WRX STI) and enhanced handling performance, the carmaker says. The car has a 1.5-inch increase in front and rear track, while standard wheels are now 17 x 8-inch, shoed with 235/45R17 tires.

  • Tata Nano Spontaneous Combustion

    If you remember, back in October of last year a series of reports saying Tata’s acclaimed Nano model has a tendency to spontaneously combust began surfacing in India.   • Ford Posts Automotive Loss but Overall Profit for 2009

    Ford’s CEO, Alan Mullaly, knew what he was doing at the end of 2008, when he said that he was willing to work for $1/year – that was smart marketing. And Mullaly continues to use such moves: The CEO took a voluntary 30 percent cash salary cut for 2009, receiving $1.4 million, down from the $2 million earned in 2008. In addition to that, the executive did not receive a bonus last year. However, Mullaly’s overall compensation increased by 5 percent last year, reaching $17.9 million.

  • Brazilian Built Mercedes A-Klasse, Take Two

    Following a failed attempt to start production of the A-Klasse in Brazil in the late 1990s, it would appear the German carmaker is once again contemplating the idea, as the vice president of marketing for Mercedes Benz cars, Phillip Schiemer, hinted.

  • Renault SM5 Exceeds Sales Expectations in Korea

    Launched in Korea in January 2010 by Renault Samsung Motors, the New SM5 already surpassed the original sales objective. According to Renault’s subsidiary, there have been some 40,000 units sold so far, with an average daily rate of 700 sales. The company even registered a record 2,012 orders taken during one single day.

  • Victoria State to Spearhead Green Fuel Research

    A consortium led by GM’s Australian division Holden and comprising Caltex Australia, Veolia, Mitsui, Coskata and the Victorian State Government announced today it will begin investigating the synergies of establishing Australia’s first second generation ethanol plant in Victoria.

    The future facility should be capable of turning household and building waste into ethanol, which will in turn be blended into the now famous E85 fuel.

  • BMW S1000 RR Gets the AC Schnitzer Touch

    The tuners at AC Schnitzer have been spicing up BMWs for years now, and have had some two-wheeled projects included in their portfolio during this period, so we were kind of seeing this coming. The only question was, however, how mad would the S 1000 RR look and be after passing through the tuners’ skilled hands.

    After Alan Batey moved on to become vice-president of sales and service for Chevrolet in the US, Mike Devereux, former president and managing director of GM Middle East Operations has been chosen as his replacement, becoming chairman and managing director of GM Holden effective immediately.

  • Ram Hybrid in the Works

    Have you ever thought you’ll see a hybrid Ram truck? Chrysler says it’s going to happen, as the automaker has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for a grant of up to $48 million as part of a $2.4 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act DOE Vehicle Electrification program.
