  • Toyota Finds Nothing Wrong with Runaway Prius

    After yesterday several media reports surfaced, saying the runaway Prius incident which took place on March 8 could not be replicated, the Japanese manufacturer released an official statement showcasing its findings.

  • Di Resta to Replace Sutil in Australian GP Practice

    Paul di Resta is understood to finally debut on the VJM03 two weekends from now, in the practice session of the 2010 Australian Grand Prix. The 23-year old Brit, who is currently preparing for another campaign with AMG Mercedes-Benz in the DTM, will likely take Adrian Sutil’s car for the 2 practice sessions scheduled on the Friday before the Aussie race.

  • Ford Grows for the 9th Consecutive Month in Europe

    The European division of American manufacturer Ford announced yesterday sales figures for the month of February in Europe, registering its ninth month-on-month European sales volume growth, with a 1.6 percent increase compared to January.

  • 2011 Ford Mustang GT Official EPA Rating Announced

    Shortly after announcing official EPA figures for its 2011 Mustang V6 model, American manufacturer Ford revealed its 2011 Mustang GT has also received final fuel economy certification by the EPA this week, for 26 mpg highway and 17 mpg city.

    Ford’s muscle car achieved this performance despite its powerful 412-hp 5.0-liter V-8 engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Moreover, models equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission achieve 18 mpg city and 25 highway.

  • China’s “Auto City” Plans to More than Double Production Capacity

    Changchun, the Chinese auto city, announced that it intends to more than double its vehicle production capacity by 2015, planning to reach a production output of 3 million units/year by then, as Xinhua News reports.

    1.22 million vehicles were assembled in Changchun last year. Over 800,000 of those vehicles were produced by the Chinese Faw Group. The company is China’s second largest automotive producer and is based in the city.

    American carmaker Ford announced today it has partnered with SAE International for a series of online training courses to automotive engineers worldwide. As part of the partnership, there will be six popular online courses on powertrain and problem-solving topics offered.   • Mercedes Sprinter Vans to Use Kumho Tires

    The Kumho tire producer and Mercedes-Benz have extended their collaboration, as the two companies have signed a partnership that will see Kumho tires become an original equipment (OE) feature for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter range of vans.

    The new project includes vehicles sold on the European, North American and Asian markets, and is scheduled to start this month.

  • Nissan Launched Series 3 Tiida in Australia

    In an effort to boost the Tiida sales which aren’t going that well, NISSAN has launched a Series 3 upgrade for its small sedan and hatch in Australia. The automaker dropped prices by Au $1,000 across the range and added curtain airbags as standard. This means that the Tiida range now starts from Au $17,500 for both the six-speed manual sedan and hatch. If you would like an automatic gearbox, you’ll have to pay an extra Au $2,250.

  • Dacia Sandero Bioethanol Launched in France

    Dacia, Renault’s Romanian brand, has introduced an ethanol version of the Sandero hatchback on the French market.

    The car uses Dacia’s 90HP 1.6 liter 8-valve engine, which has been converted to run on E85 biofuel, besides gasoline. The unit features strengthened valves, optimized cylinder head cooling and oil-jet cooled pistons. Special, corrosion-resistant materials have been used for the fuel tank, fuel system and fuel pump.
