“I grew up knowing a lot of gay men and it was never something that I even thought twice about — that some men were gay and some weren’t…I think it’s important for somebody from a big, commercial movie series like ‘Harry Potter’ and particularly because I am not gay or bisexual or transgendered. … The fact that I am straight makes not a difference, but it shows that straight people are incredibly interested and care a lot about this as well.”

  • Bret Michaels Reality Show “Life As I Know It” Headed To VH1 Fall 2010

Nothing like a good ole near death experience to inspire a new reality show.

Bret Michaels is teaming up with the producers of his defunct reality dating challenge Rock of Love for a new docu- series — titled Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It “giving viewers an insider’s look at Bret’s home life when he isn’t touring, shooting, partying, and rocking out,” the network announced in a release issued Monday The celebreality-centered network will air a half-hour special first look at the show this Memorial Day Monday, May 31, with a full series set to premiere next fall.

The former Poison frontman and ex-Rock of Love star miraculously recovered from a life-threatening aneurysm last month, and is set to return to the stage in a live performance next week.

“After Bret’s recent appendectomy and life threatening brain hemorrhage, we’re so happy that he is on the road to recovery and coming back to VH1 in Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It,” says Jeff Olde, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production. “Bret is family to us and has always been a huge hit on the network, headlining several series and specials that have garnered record breaking ratings and made a strong connection with our audience. We have temporarily halted production on the series with Bret’s health as our primary concern. Production will resume when it is cleared by his doctors. But in the meantime, in response to the flood of well wishes the network has received from Bret’s fans, we’d like to celebrate Bret’s recovery with this sneak peak special featuring the next chapter in Bret’s story on VH1. It’s a never-before-seen look into Bret’s family life- the real center of his world from which he draws his unsinkable strength.”

  • Kelly Killoren Bensimon Leaving Facebook

The mean streets of the World Wide Web have proven too tough for one “Real Housewife.”

New York City socialite and former Playboy centerfold Kelly Killoren Bensimon will be deleting her Facebook account at the end of the week after snippy remarks from online foes became too much for the Bravo reality star to handle.

In a brief message to fans on Sunday, Kelly explained her decision to cut ties with the site — apparently in response to negative comments from fellow Facebookers: “I will be deleting this page by the end of the week. So for those who wish to stay a fan please go to my fanpage. And for those who choose not to…all the best. Please don’t follow me on Twitter and Facebook, it’s not good for you to waste time, with people you dislike…and end up getting blocked or deleted from my web team….”

In a later message, a fired-up Kelly wrote: “My Twitter and Facebook Fanpage are randomly monitered by my web team & the online security department of Twitter+Facebook ,just like any other public figure fan page, & reported 2 the correct authorities if hateful & bullying messages are posted. U will be blocked and reported. So if you are not a fan, don’t be! Don’t visit my pages wasting your time posting things that will cause you trouble. Move on!”

Looks like May’s a tough month to be a “Real Housewife.” Just last week, Kelly’s Real Housewives co-star Jill Zarin was viciously ripped by hundreds of angry Facebook commentors after she prematurely announced former bestie Bethenny Frankel’s baby arrival news on the site — and still managed to get the sex of the tot wrong.

  • Miss USA Rima Fakih Striptease Photos Emerge

Another year, another potential snaps scandal brewing on the pageant circuit: It seems Miss USA 2010 knows her way around a pole.

One day after taking the crown in the 2010 Miss USA pageant in Las Vegas, a Detroit radio station has released pictures it says are of Miss USA Rima Fakih dancing in a station-sponsored striptease contest. The 24-year-old daughter of Lebanese immigrants beat out 50 other women to win this year’s competition. Fakih is the first Arab-American to ever claim the Miss USA title, but one in a series of pageant queens to be the subject of a potential naughty photo scandal.

Channel 99.5 FM’s “Mojo In The Morning” has published several images of the former Miss Michigan in shorts and tank top dancing seductively on a platform surrounded by other women. The dance was part of a contest put on by the station nearly three years ago.

“Congratulations to Miss Michigan, Rima Fakih who was crowned Miss USA on Sunday night! Rima is a Dearborn resident and the first Arab American to wear the crown. Much like Miss Michigan Kristen Haglund who won Miss America in 2008, Rima is a Mojo In The Morning listener who has joined us in studio and at events. Check out Miss USA Rima Fakih when she won Mojo In The Morning’s “Stripper 101″ contest in 2007…” read a message posted to the show’s website on Monday.

  • Greyson Chance Lands Deal With Interscope Records As Gaga Cover Becomes Viral Sensation

Watch your back, Biebs! Greyson Chance has landed a recording contract with Interscope Records just one week after the 12-year-old Oklahoma singing sensation captured the affection of tween girls nationwide with his cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi.”

Chance made his first television appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last Friday, and Lady Gaga tore herself away from selecting kooky attire for the day to call in with some words of encouragement for the “Little Monster.” Industry tattles say that Interscope were anxious to close the deal before any other label got the chance to meet the young star.

An official announcement is expected sometime in the next few weeks.

  • Tyra Banks Construction Work Keeps Neighbors Covering Their Ears

It’s not easy living next door to a diva: Tyra Banks, who recently plopped down $10 million to purchase four apartments in Manhattan’s Battery Park City Development, has such intense construction going on at the property, her new livid neighbors are already calling the cops on her.

Well that’s nothing to “smeyes” about!

The America’s Next Top Model star plans to transform the property into one single-family home, but the ongoing work to join all four apartments together has infuriated other residents, who have filed dozens of complaints with police about the ear-splitting noise coming from Tyra’s place, according to The New York Post.

  • Shia LaBeouf Disses “Indiana Jones 4″

Did you walk away from the last Indiana Jones feature feeling a bit underwhelmed? You’re not alone — the movie also gets a big fat thumbs down from Indy 4 star Shia LaBeouf. And you’ll never guess who the chatty curly-topped star is calling out for directing the disappointing stinker — legendary lensman Steven Spielberg!

“I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished… You can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven (Spielberg). But the actor’s job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn’t do it,” he explains.

The former Disney star joined the cast as Indy’s adult son when Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford brought the beloved adventurer back to the big screen for a fourth installment in 2008’s Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Released 19 years after the last movie hit cinemas in 1989, the box office hit was a blockbuster across the globe, but still failed to measure up to the expectations of critics and fans.

Shia was disappointed too, the star tells The Los Angeles Times. LaBeouf says his high opinion of the film turned to mush the moment he saw the finished product — and he believes everyone involved with the feature, namely director Steven Spielberg, should apologize for botching the effort.

“I think the audience is pretty intelligent. I think they know when you’ve made (a bad film)… And I think if you don’t acknowledge it, then why do they trust you the next time you’re promoting a movie…..”

LaBeouf claims Indy 4 was a dreadful piece of movie that even Harrison Ford hated.

“We (Ford and LaBeouf) had major discussions. He wasn’t happy with it either. Look, the movie could have been updated. There was a reason it wasn’t universally accepted,” Shia says matter-of factly.

And the Transformers actor has no qualms about spilling the tea on the feature, although his candid comments could land him in hot water with Hollywood heavyweight Spielberg.

“I’ll probably get a call. But he needs to hear this. I love him. I love Steven. I have a relationship with Steven that supersedes our business work. And believe me, I talk to him often enough to know that I’m not out of line. And I would never disrespect the man. I think he’s a genius, and he’s given me my whole life. He’s done so much great work that there’s no need for him to feel vulnerable about one film. But when you drop the ball you drop the ball.”

  • “Sex And The City 2″ Banned In Abu Dhabi?

Sex And The City 2 is facing a ban in Abu Dhabi, the conservative Arabic city in which it is set.

The plot of the eagerly-awaited chick flick — a follow-up to 2008’s Sex And The City: The Movie — features series stars Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, Charlotte York, and Samantha Jones on vacation in Abu Dhabi.
Last year, city officials turned down a request to film on location, forcing the cast and crew to head to Morocco to recreate the Abu Dhabi setting. Now, however, Shooting Stars — Warner Bros.’ distributor in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) — has revealed that Arabic decency officials have still not made a decision about whether or not to bring the film to cinemas in Abu Dhabi after its release in North American and Europe later this month.

The original SATC Movie, which is the big screen adaptation of the hugely popular television series that ran every Sunday night on HBO from 1998 to 2004, was not shown in the UAE when it hit theaters across the globe two years ago. The film and all promotional materials bearing the word “sex” were also banned in two Iraeli cities in 2008.

  • Britney Spears Threatens Ashton Kutcher’s Twitter Crown

Ashton Kutcher is thisclose to losing his Twitter crown to a Southern blonde with a bad weave.

Kutcher became the king of Twitter after famously beating CNN to 1 million followers last April, but has been getting tough competition from pop star Britney Spears in recent weeks. As of May 17, Kutcher still has more followers than anyone else on the micro-blogging site, but it seems the funnyguy’s days as Twitter’s most popular user are numbered — thanks to the “Womanizer” star.

The two are neck-and-neck in a race to hit 5 million followers.

Spears — who only sporadically posts updates to her Twitter — is nevertheless slowly closing in on Kutcher – and the gap between their number of followers gets smaller every day. Ashton currently has 4,890,797 followers, while Spears is standing steady at 4,878,516.

  • Lady Gaga: Hat-Making Intern

She writes a pretty mean pop song, but how are her hat-making skills?! Multiplatinum-selling recording artist Lady Gaga has applied for an internship with legendary milliner Phillip Treacy.

The eccentric hitmaker — as known for her love of headscrathing ensembles as she is for her signature dance anthems — is a huge fan of Treacy’s outrageous toppers, including a telephone-shaped piece and a lobster hat previously worn by Gaga. Now the singer wants to learn how to design the kooky headpieces herself, and has applied for an internship at the company.

“Gaga’s crazy about the idea. Philip agreed to give her an internship when they met at the Brits. She hopes to take him up on the offer this summer,” a fashion industry tattle told Britain’s Mail on Sunday this week.

A representative for Treacy confirmed the news, saying: “Lady Gaga has requested an internship, but Philip will have to check her sewing skills first.”

  • “Stay Out Of The Ballroom!” Tom Bergeron Says Betty White Is Too Old For “Dancing With The Stars”

Is Betty White headed for Dancing The Stars? The 88-year-old comedy legend is reportedly in talks to compete on the next season of ABC’s hit ballroom dancing competition — and the plan even has the show’s host raising an eyebrow.

“Dancing With The Stars would love to have Betty White grace the dance floor next season,” an insider squeals. “Not only would she guarantee great ratings, she would also make it easier for a lot of big celebrities — who up to now have been sitting on the fence — to sign on. There is no one bigger or more respected than Betty White.”

While DWTS producers are certain the Hot In Cleveland actress (who recently hosted Saturday Night Live in front of a record-setting audience) would rake in the ratings, host Tom Begeron fears that White — now in her late eighties — is simply too old to keep up with the show rigorous training schedule. Not to mention Dancing has been known to leave contestants nursing injuries long after the season ends. Jewel, Nancy O’Dell, Kelly Osbourne, and Steve O are just a sampling of the stars forced to undergo surgery after departing the ballroom.

“I know the producers want me to say yes, but I adore Betty White and she is almost 89 years old and I don’t,” Begeron told The Insider when asked if he thinks Betty should accept the offer to compete on DWTS. “My understanding is that Betty has had a conversation where she expressed some concern about her ability to keep up. I think that is where you have to say, ‘Okay.’ From a promotion standpoint, obviously, she is the hottest name going right now, but I adore her and I would never want to be her last show.”

If Betty accepted the Dancing challenge, she would join a small group of fellow senior stars who have tangoed and jived for millions of Americans, including retired astronaunt Buzz Aldrin and Oscar winner Cloris Leachman.

  • Jude Law Sienna Miller Wedding Summer 2010

Cat’s out the bag for Jude and Sienna: The on-again-off-again lovebirds are reportedly planning a secret wedding set for this summer.

The pair have been engaged before but split in 2006, after Jude had an affair with his children’s nanny. He also fathered a daughter born last year following a one-night stand with Florida model Samantha Burke.

All water under the bridge for Sienna, who is in the middle of planning Bohemian-style nups in the couple’s native Britain and a second wedding in their adopted home of New York sometime in the next few months.

A source told The Mail on Sunday this week: “They don’t want to jinx things by talking about it, but they have told their nearest and dearest that they would like to get married in the summer. Sienna is also saying that she has some other really exciting news, but she is not saying anything to anyone at the moment.”

Keep your eye on him, girl!

  • NBC Pulls Plug On Medical Dramas “Mercy” & “Trauma”

Tough time to be an NBC medical drama: Mercy and Trauma have been taken off life support. Neither of NBC’s freshman hospital-themed series will be returning to the air next fall.

Mercy, which starred Michelle Trachtenberg as a nurse and Dawson Creek’s James Van Der Beek as a womanizing MD, has been canned by NBC chiefs after just one season.

Trauma has also been scrapped ahead of a second season. The show about a group of paramedics in San Francisco was actually booted earlier this season, but NBC decided to order additional episodes of the series when it became clear that The Jay Leno Show was destined to be a ratings disaster.

Trauma’s last new episode brought in 4.3 million viewers, while Mercy has averaged around 6 million viewers — though ratings have been steadily declining for the struggling Wednesday night drama all season.

  • Russell Brand Katy Perry Weeklong Wedding Extravaganza Oct. 2010

Russell Brand and Katy Perry are planning a week of celebrations to commemorate their Indian wedding ceremony this October.

After just three months of dating, last New Year’s Eve the British funnyman proposed to the “California Gurls” singer during a romantic trip to India. Perry has stated the couple is planning a “small” wedding, insisting she doesn’t want the ceremony to turn into a “drunkfest of people.” Nonetheless, the couple is rumored to be planning to return to the country for an extravagant affair that will kick off Oct. 18 and conclude with Perry and Brand tying the knot on Oct. 25.

Katy and Russell are already sending out Save The Date cards to their friends and family, and snoops for England’s News of the World reportedly managed to get their hot little hands on the invite.

The card, which features a picture of Indian henna tattoo, urges guests to “Save The Week for the wedding of Katy and Russell” and reminds attendees that they “will need a passport.”

The invite also states guests “will be contacted soon with more information.”

    “It’s Yillen-Hoolah-Hay….”

Just how do you pronounce ‘Gyllenhaal?’ It’s one of those timeless potato/potato, tomato/tomato sort of quandaries, but fortunately for us, Jake’s pleased as punch to clear up the confusion for us.
