House Bill 631 passed out of the House State Affairs Committee today, March 18 and will advance to General Order where it will be amended with language approved by the courts, clarifying the true intent of the bill. HB 631 is designed to create an Idaho state law that meets the requirements set in the Federal NICS Improvement Act of 2007 to grant relief from mental health disabilities that prevent firearms ownership.

Firearms registration required on Air Force base
Posted: 03.18.10 01:22 AMRegistering a firearm with the appropriate authorities on Maxwell Gunter is required in order to bring a firearm on base. Master Sgt. James Kanz, NCO in charge of the 42nd Security Forces Squadron Armory, wants to remind all Maxwell Gunter members and residents that firearm registration is mandatory for all individuals living on Maxwell Gunter Air Force Base. "Individuals living in privatized housing are required to register weapons with security forces at the Maxwell Visitor’s Center at Building 518 on Maxwell," he said. "Individuals living in single airman quarters are required to register and store their firearms in the 42nd SFS Armory at Building 943 on Maxwell."

Iowa: Shall-issue Right-to-Carry gets new life

Although the legislation died in the second funnel deadline two weeks ago, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, D Des Moines, said the topic surfaced in a Democratic caucus and about two thirds of his members were interested in giving it another look. A shell bill declaring the House Public Safety Committee’s intent to write legislation had 44 co sponsors.

Ohio: Bill to loosen Right-to-Carry restrictions

Tim Schaffer, R Lancaster, and a fellow Republican from the Dayton area, also would remove existing restrictions on how handguns can be carried in a vehicle. Sen. John Carey, R Wellstone, is listed as a co sponsor.

Arizona: Campus faculty Right-to-Carry bill advances

Harper, R Surprise, said his striker on Senate Bill 1014 would deter a gunman from opening fire on an Arizona campus, knowing that some faculty members are armed and would save lives.

Florida: Bill protecting rights of adoptive parents heads to Governor

Missouri: House seeks to lower Right-to-Carry age limit

Clerks are reporting a huge jump in concealed weapons applications across the state.In 2001, Michigan passed a law making it easier to carry a concealed weapon and the numbers have been rapidly growing.Between 2007 and 2008, 26,500 people applied for a concealed weapons permit, in 2009 that jumped to 66,500.

Idaho: Senate Committee to Consider Hunter Privacy Bill Tomorrow, March 17!

House Bill 531aa, sponsored by Representative Judy Boyle (R-Midvale), would amend Idahoâ??s existing law to limit public access to Fish and Game records of issued tags. HB 531aa would also prohibit future harassment, intimidation and threats relating to the lawful taking and control of fish and wildlife. As the law currently stands, any person or organization can contact Fish and Game and request the names of all people who have been issued tags and what type of hunting tag they have been issued.
