On Wednesday, March 25, the Nebraska Legislature passed LB 817, moving it out of Select File and on to Final Action. This bill would allow a Nebraska concealed carry permit to be used in lieu of a permit to purchase card. During the first round of debate, known as General File, two amendments were added to the bill. NRA was not opposed to either amendment.

Idaho Gun Rights Restoration Bill Passes out of the House, Moves to Senate

This legislation is designed to update Idaho state law to meet the requirements set forth in the Federal NICS Improvement Amendments Act of 2007 (NIAA). HB 631 now moves to the Senate where it awaits its next assignment.

Georgia: Right-to-Carry bills pass Senate fight
Posted: 03.25.10 01:34 AMTwo bills allowing Right-to-Carry permit holders to carry in churches, bars and parts of airports on Wednesday were passed by the Senate, closing out a marathon day of legislation.SB 308, sponsored by Sen. Mitch Seabaugh of Sharpsburg and clarifying language regarding where guns can be carried in the state, withstood strong objections from the Board of Regents and at least 10 amendments that were either rejected or withdrawn. It passed with bipartisan support, 41-12.The other bill, SB 291, which permits concealed weapons in vehicles that pick up and drop off passengers at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, was sponsored by Sen. David Shafer (R Duluth). It passed 43-10.

Arizona: Constitutional carry bill up for vote
Posted: 03.25.10 01:50 AMProposed legislation that would make Arizona the third state in the nation to allow adults to carry concealed guns without permits may be the first of the dozen or so weapons related bills proposed this session to hit the governor’s desk.The Senate bill, crafted by Sen. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, was approved Tuesday by the Senate Committee of the Whole and now awaits a vote by the full Senate. The House bill, sponsored by Jim Weiers, R Glendale, is on the agenda for a vote by the House Committee of the Whole today.

The Committee took a voice vote to carry over the bill. SB360 is unlikely to be heard again before the end of the session due to the upcoming discussions on the state budget. Thus, this bill has ultimately died in committee.

Washington: Renewed effort to lift gun ban in Snohomish County parks
Posted: 03.24.10 01:22 AMSnohomish County Councilman John Koster has renewed a bid to repeal the county’s current ban on guns at county parks, two months after a similar effort failed.Washington state law currently allows guns in all but a few specific places such as jails, courtrooms, commercial airports and liquor stores. The state law also says cities and counties cannot enact firearms laws that are more restrictive than the state’s.
