Punk pop star Avril Lavigne is reportedly dating reality hunk Brody Jenner.

Entertainment snoops are leaking reports that the “Sk8er Boi” singer – who filed for divorce from rocker husband Deryck Whibley last October – has been secretly seeing the newly-single Hills star, 26, for the past several weeks.

The alleged couple recently enjoyed a dinner at Los Angeles restaurant Koi before heading to nearby hotspot Voyeur, where they spent the night dancing and flirting.

A chatterbox told E! Online Monday: “They’re hooking up but they’re keeping it low-key. You can tell they’re into each other and both like to have a good time. They’re cute together.”

Since splitting from Deryck – who she married in 2006 – Avril, 25, has been romantically linked to actor Wilmer Valderrama and oil heir Brandon Davis. Brody split from Playboy Playmate Jayde Nicole in December.

An hour later, Tila had forgotten all about her possibly dying unborn child because of a very exciting phone call from an adoption agency in Russia.

David Mathews, a lifelong Betty White Fan, created The Betty White Facebook Fan Page last month and sent a letter to the SNL creator Lorne Michaels, imploring him to give the comedy legend a shot on SNL, when the fan page reached 5,000 followers. Over 330,000 members of the website have signed a petition to urge show bosses to consider letting White act as a celebrity host on the long-running sketch show for the first time in her more than 50 year career.

The campaign follows 88-year-old Betty’s popular Super Bowl ad for Snickers. The actress is overwhelmed by so many people’s desire to see her back on the small screen.

She tells E! Online: “I’m just amazed. I would think by now that they’ve had such an overdose of Betty White that they’d be throwing rocks instead. (It) would depend on scheduling and all that. But who knows? You can’t ever say yes or no or never – you just wait to see what happens.”

After three years and two babies, Nicole Richie and her rock star beau are finally ready to take the plunge. Richie is engaged to marry longtime boyfriend Joel Madden.

The former reality starlet and Hollywood socialite reportedly announced news of her upcoming wedding to the Good Charlotte rocker during an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman on Monday night, according to E! News.

“Yep. I’m engaged. Very happy. Yeah we’ve been engaged for a while so you’re all kind of late on that. But, thanks for the hoopla all the same,” Joel said in a post to his Twitter page on Monday. He has since removed the message.

Singer Chynna Phillips has entered a rehab facility, where she is receiving treatment for anxiety, a rep for the star said on Monday.

The daughter of Mamas & Papas founders John and Michelle Phillips found fame as one-third of pop group Wilson Phillips in the ’80s-’90s. Now 42, Chynna has three children with actor Billy Baldwin, who she married in 1995. After a turbulent 2009, the working mother entered an undisclosed treatment facility over the weekend. In addition to tax trouble for Phillips and Baldwin, Chynna was rocked last fall by a public declaration by her older half-sister Mackenzie, who claims she had an incestuous affair with their late father John for more than a decade.

“After much thoughtful deliberation Chynna Phillips has checked herself into an undisclosed treatment facility for anxiety,” her manager, Lizzie Grubman, said in a statement to PEOPLE this afternoon. “With the full support of her family and friends, she is looking orward to her recovery. We ask that people respect her and her family’s privacy at this time.”

For the first time in its nine season history, the nation’s most watched TV talent show will divide its announcement of the Top 24 over two nights.

American Idol will reveal some of the Top 24 semifinalists on Tuesday night’s two-hour show — which will see several several of the contestants performing their final solo number in front of Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, Randy Jackson, and Kara DioGuardi. The remainder of the contestants who managed to triumph through the show’s grueling Hollywood Round successfully will be unveiled on Wednesday, Feb. 17.

John Mayer’s still catching Holy Hell over his racially insensitive and anti-gay remarks (He’s still yet to apologize for the latter….) during an interview published in the March issue of Playboy Magazine last week, but at least one charity organization has spoken out in defense of the embattled singer.

A spokesperson for The Isaac Foundation – an organization which raises support for children with a rare enzyme deficiency known as MPS VI – is rallying behind Mayer, who they claim has donated his time and efforts to the organization for nearly two years. The group notes that John has been especially kind to the founding family and their son Isaac (who suffers from MPS VI).

“I thought I would take to our blog to write a quick defense of John Mayer, someone that I have grown to respect for the kind, caring, and compassionate person that he truly is. I don’t care what Playboy Magazine writes about the man, and I don’t care what John says to the journalists that write what they do about him. In America, it’s all part of the game…light up the blogosphear [sic], stay relevant – end of story,” read a statement on the organization’s blog on Monday.

“I know he has said things that turn people off. I know he’s said things that make him sound like someone you would never want your children around – ever. But I also know the person that he truly is and the good things he tries to accomplish with the celebrity status he’s achieved,” the statement continued in part. “A few minutes ago I asked Isaac to tell me three words he would use to describe John and he responded ‘Nice, Friendable [sic], and Loveable.’ Print that bloggers, and give John his fair shake.”

On Sunday, Svein Romstad, Secretary-General of International Luge Federation, suggested that human error is to blame for the tragic accident that took the life of a Georgian luger during a practice run in Vancouver on Friday. Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, died last week after he last control of his sled, went over a track wall and struck an unpadded steel pole — head first — near the finish line.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili also cited a “mistake” on the athlete’s part as playing a role in his own death. The politician played down suggestions that the lightening speed of the Olympic track contributed to the accident and pooh-poohed declarations that the luger was a novice –arguing that Nodar was from a sporting family.

Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater Peggy Fleming and 2002 bobsled champion Vonetta Flowers sustained minor injuries Sunday after they were involved in a crash while traveling with Vice-President Joe Biden’s motorcade. Mike Eruzione, who was captain of the US Olympic Hockey team that won the Miracle on Ice game against the Soviet Union, was also in the van. He walked away uninjured.

The motorcade was en route to a hockey game in Vancouver when the van carrying Fleming, Flowers, and Eruzione was rear-ended. Biden was riding with a physician who was able to treat everyone on scene. All injuries sustained were minor.

“It was a big, huge van. We were thrown really hard and Vonetta hit her head on the seat cushion in front of her…It was just a really jarring twist of the neck, but I think we’re going to be OK,” Fleming said of the weekend ordeal. “I think I’ll have a stiff neck tomorrow and stiff muscles.”

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but primary reports blame either poor road conditions or an oil slick.

After 29 years, Barbara Walters is bidding farewell to her annual pre-awards show special. On The View Monday, Babs revealed that next month’s Oscar interview special will be her last.

“ABC has asked me to keep doing these specials as they have been so successful. I’m thrilled we have such great stars and have such a wonderful show for this last one – but to be honest, I feel like I’ve ‘been there, done that,’” Walters confided to fans on this morning’s program.

“This special has been a labor of love for 29 years. I will always remember when Hugh Jackman gave me a private lap dance or sitting down with the legendary Bette Davis or being taught to tango by Al Pacino,” Babs recalled. “It’s those priceless moments that have made this special the Oscar tradition that it has become, but I truly feel enough is enough.”

The Barbara Walters Special 2010, airing on Oscar Night March 7, will feature chats with Academy Award-nominees Sandra Bullock and Mo’Nique, as well as a host of other Hollywood stars. The veteran newswoman is still expected to carry on with her other annual ABC News Special, The 10 Most Fascinating People.

Hollywood gossips say Marvel and Paramount Pictures are in discussions to cast Star Trek alum Chris Pine in the role of superhero avenger Steve Rogers in the forthcoming box office blockbuster, Captain America. The film is scheduled for release on July 22, 2011.

Approximately 80 of music’s biggest names gathered on February 1, 2010 to remake the 1985 charity classic “We Are The World,” in an effort to raise funds for earthquake-ravaged Haiti. “We Are The World: 25 For Haiti” made its debut during the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Winter Olympics on Friday night — but at least one music notable would have liked to see the anthem remain “untouched.”

“I know everybody is gonna take this wrong: ‘We Are the World,’ I love it, and I understand the point and think it’s great. But I think ‘We Are the World’ is like [Michael Jackson’s] ‘Thriller’ to me. Carly Simon has launched a competition seeking the first official video to accompany her chart-topping 1972 song, “You’re So Vain.” For nearly 40 years, the pop singer/songwriter has remained tight-lipped about one of music’s biggest mysteries: Who is the narcissistic subject of the tune?

Simon has never publicly revealed the identity of her inspiration — but she’s giving fans an opportunity to have fun with the rumors. Over the years, “Vain” has been attributed to a series of Simon’s exes, including Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Mick Jagger, Kris Kristofferson, and most notably Warren Betty.

Production on the upcoming ninth season of 24 has been suspended after series star Kiefer Sutherland suffered a ruptured cyst near his kidney last week, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Shooting on the hit drama began earlier this month, but filming had to be halted last week after Sutherland took time off to undergo minor surgery.

“While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps,” a rep for the star told the paper Sunday. “He looks forward to returning to work next week.”

In a statement issued shortly after, 20th Century Fox — which produces 24 — ensured The Times that the delay in shooting wouldn’t interfere with the show’s schedule.

“We are temporarily suspending production of ‘24’ while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure. We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season’s episodes.”

The Real Housewives of New York City’s Jill Zarin is rarely at a loss for words, but the Big Apple socialite was shocked speechless when she was pelted with insults for rocking fur on People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ annual Worst-Dressed List, released last Friday.

Welsh-born Oscar winner Zeta-Jones topped this year’s list of the least animal-friendly celebs, which also featured Zarin Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Kate Hudson. But the Bravo reality personality insists she doesn’t belong on the list. According to Jill, not only she does only wear faux fur, she claims she can’t even remember the last time she wore real minx, or fox, or coon — you get the picture.

“I’m flattered to be placed next to Catherine Zeta-Jones, but I happen to be wearing fake fur,” she told Life & Style. “Adrienne Landau makes the best fake furs.”

Bologna! says the animal-lovin’ zealots. A spokesperson for PETA finds Zarin’s declaration of innocence hard to believe, telling the tab: “I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if that fur is faux, but Zarin’s fondness of the real thing is very well-known, and something she’s never denied.”

Kim Kardashian has added TV producer to her growing list of business ventures.

Kardashian, 29, is teaming up with Bunim/Murray Productions — creators of The Real World and Keeping Up with the Kardashians — for a new TV special called The SPINdustry.

The SPINdustry will shadow entertainment public relations agency Command PR, which works with high profile companies like Belvedere Vodka and has created events for stars including Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga. The special will air immediately after the fourth season finale of Keeping Up With The Kardashians on E! Feb. 21.

Kim also endorses The QuickTrim weight-loss supplements and recently unveiled her own fragrance in cooperation with Sephora.
