  • Nick & Melissa Failed Marriage Proposal @ Rangers-Lightning Game A Hoax

Sources with New York’s Madison Square Garden say a failed marriage proposal captured during a NY Rangers-Tampa Bay Lightning game on Valentine’s Day was a hoax.

During the second period of the Rangers vs. Lightning game on Sunday a message appeared on the scoreboard videoscreen: “Melissa, will you be my blueshirt bride? Love, Nick.”

Sadly, things were about to get very humiliating for poor Nick. Video of what happened next quickly become a viral sensation on the Web: Nick’s would-be “Blueshirt Bride” covered her mouth before angrily storming off. The sweaty, beer-soused crowd booed and hissed at the woman while Nick chased after her as she bolted from the stands.

Alas, it appears Nick’s rejection was all for our entertainment. According to a scoop from http://www.northjersey.com/sports/A-Ranged_Blueshirts_set_up_phony_marriage_proposal.html, Nick and Melissa were actors hired by The Rangers to perform the skit as part of the in-game entertainment.

  • Bristol Palin Slams “Family Guy” On Down Syndrome Dig

Sarah Palin is sounding off on Sunday night’s episode of Family Guy, which seemed to mock the youngest of the politician’s two sons, Trig, who suffers from Down syndrome. Instead of lighting into producers of the popular animated series — similar to what she’s done after run-ins with David Letterman, Rush Limbaugh, and White House’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel — the former Alaska governor’s enlisted Trig’s big sister, Bristol, to speak for the family.

The show — which aired on Palin’s new employer FOX over the weekend– is accused of evoking Palin’s 22-month-old son for a storyline in which hapless character Chris Griffin asks out a rude classmate who has Down syndrome. When he asks the girl about her parents, she replies that her mother is the former governor of Alaska. Not surprising, considering Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane — an Obama supporter — regularly ridiculed then-VP-candidate Palin during the 2008 presidential race. While she’s gotten used to living under public scrutiny, Bristol believes her baby brother and his disability should be off limits.

“When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent. People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet,” the 19-year-old single mom wrote in a statement entitled “Fox Hollywood — What a Disappointment” and posted to her mother’s Facebook page on Monday.

“Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them? As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people – especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks. – Bristol Palin”

  • John Mayer On “Oprah?” When Pigs Have Wings…..

We’ve heard earlier promises from John Mayer to put a lid on his loose lips, but the firestorm his racially-insensitive, homophobic Playboy interview has ignited may force the Grammy-winning musician to be a bit more mindful of the shit he says when he’s stoned. Unfortunately, Mayer’s damage control campaign will have to roll on without any help from The Queen of Talk. PopEater’s Naughty But Nice Column claims Oprah Winfrey — who, just months ago, was eager to bring serial adulterer Tiger Woods to The Oprah Showstage — has turned down an opportunity to interview the “Daughters” crooner about last week’s scandal.

A TV industry tattle leaks: “Oprah is the smartest person on TV and will not let John use her or her show to ask for forgiveness. If John really wants to apologize for his racist and sexist comments, he should find somewhere else. The only way Oprah, who is a dear friend of Jennifer Aniston, would ever book him is if John were interested in having a much deeper conversation about race, women and fame.”

The Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen star – who has an on/off relationship with actor Brian Austin Green – says she is a very maternal person but suffers a deep fear that she won’t be able to have kids biologically.

“No-one believes me when I talk about this, but I’m really maternal. I worry that because I’ve always wanted kids so much, as the world goes sometimes, I won’t be able to have them – even though I would be able to provide them with such an amazing environment.”

  • Is “The Bachelor’s” Ali The Next “Bachelorette?”

Ali Fedotowsky left the current season The Bachelor rather than face possible unemployment by continuing to fight for the heart of pilot Jake Pavelka. On Tuesday, the popular castoff drops by The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where she chats about the chances of becoming the next Bachelorette.

“If they were to ask me that would be so great…..”

Ali also explains to Ellen why she chose to leave to return to work; “One of the reasons it was okay for me to leave in the first place was because I thought if this is love and he really cares about me, then he is going to come and find me. He’s a pilot, like fly to get me, that would be amazing.”

On Monday night’s episode of The Bachelor, Ali calls Jake and asks if she still has a chance with him only to find out that he has stronger feelings for another woman. And Ali’s got a few theories on who that woman might be, telling El: “I actually think it could be Vienna.”

Of course, Ali might have different choice for him: “I want it to be Tenley,” she reveals. “Tenley and I are really good friends. I will be friends and talk to her forever. I joke if she marries Jake I’ll be in there wedding party. We’re that close. That would be a little awkward. I’m happy for him whoever he ends up with.”

  • David Canary Leaving “All My Children”

Longtime All My Children star David Canary is leaving the daytime soap.

Canary, who has won five Daytime Emmys for his portrayal of devious businessman Adam Chandler and his good-natured twin Stuart, has opted not to renew his contract with AMC. The move comes just months after producers announced plans to abandon shooting in New York City and move the show’s production to Los Angeles, TV Squad said Monday.

“Losing Canary is a major blow. He is not the kind of actor who can be replaced with another star. That doesn’t mean the soap won’t try, but the scuttlebutt is that when David stops shooting in March, Adam will leave Pine Valley alive. As such, the door will be left open in case Canary changes his mind or chooses to return for a visit … maybe even an extended visit that would be a story arc?”

Canary has been a regular on All My Children since 1983.

  • Lady Gaga Plans Brit Awards Tribute To Alexander McQueen

Lady Gaga has thrown tonight’s 2010 Brit Awards into a tailspin after scrapping her original performance in favor of a more sombre acoustic set in tribute to late designer Alexander McQueen. The “Poker Face” hitmaker was left devastated when McQueen, a dear friend of Gaga’s, was found hanged in his London apartment last week. Officials believe the grief-striken designer took his own life. Subsequently, Gaga feels it would be inappropriate to do a lively performance in the wake of a friend’s death.

A tipster tells London’s The Sun: “Gaga’s final choreography was finished ages ago. The whole performance had been rehearsed and was ready to go, but when she turned up on Monday, she announced she is too upset about Alexander McQueen to do that performance. She says she’s changing everything. She wants to wear an-all black outfit and do sombre versions of her music as a tribute to him.”

Apparently, organizers are so angry with Gaga, there are talks of moving her performance back and handing her slot over to Cheryl Cole instead.

  • Christina Hendricks Talks Weight Criticism With New York Magazine

Ravishing redheadChristina Hendricks admits recent barbs about her voluptuous figure have left a “bad taste in her mouth.”

A New York Times blogger was forced to apologize after writing “Big girls shouldn’t wear big dresses” after spying the Mad Men star in a lavish ball gown at last month’s Golden Globe Awards. The writer later insisted the photograph of Hendricks had been accidentally distorted.

Christina was taken aback by the biting remark and insists people should be focusing on her performances rather than her size.

She tells New York Magazine: “It kind of hurt my feelings at first. Anytime someone talks about your figure constantly, you get nervous, you get really self-conscious. I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body! It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.”
