  • Phillip Sparks – Behind the Scenes Videos for Fall/Winter 2010 Collection

    phillip-sparks-videos

Phillip Sparks is fast becoming a SwipeLife favorite, and our favoritism has increased now with these behind the scene looks at the label’s upcoming Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. For the season’s range, Phillip looks to the classic book Moby Dick as inspiration. Themes of maritime life, seafaring men, and naval environments become central to the designs of Autumn and Winter. Sparks follows the darker tones of the story to fully convey his looks and styles. While the first video tells of Sparks’s influence for his collection, video 2 is a quick montage of Sparks at work doing trimmings, ironing, and sewing. Video 3, which is the latest in the series, is behind the scenes look at the Fall lookbook photoshoot, which will bring the range all together. Hopefully more videos will come as we slowly start to see this great collection from start to finish.

    folk-spring2010-video

As Folk gears up to release their Spring/Summer 2010 offerings, it was only right to accompany the releases with a preview in video form. • Varde77 – Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook

    varde77-spring2010

We vowed that we’d follow Varde77’s offerings ever since we caught a glance at their Fall/Winter 2009 Collection. For Spring/Summer 2010, the label keeps in tune with their nomadic story. With a lookbook set on the beach, the range gets a bit more comfortable and at ease with tees, shorts, tops, denim jackets, and lighter outerwear products. There are also standouts in the collection such as the jumpsuits, and the yellow and green parkas. Overall, the collection contains characteristics of ruggedness and subtlety which is a perfect mixture for the Spring in terms of streetwear trends.

  • Cold Method – Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook

    cold-method-spring2010

    Denimaniac
points us to the Cold Method label’s Spring/Summer 2010 lookbook. According to DM, Cold Method is,” inspired by vintage clothing with an irreverent twist.” We admire the label’s reference to the old classic styles found in the outerwear and in its suiting. The silhouettes are very form fitting, yet there’s an easiness to the way the pieces all come together. Patterns for some of the pieces are very subtle, and we admire the construction on some of the knits. However, we are more in tuned with the suit styles as the brand gives a diverse option for spring in day and night colors with browns and darker tones.

  • Milok – Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

    milok-springsummer2010

We’re gonna give you warning that the hair on the Milok model will get a little crazy after the jump. But we’re sure that won’t stop you from looking. Moving on however, Milok presents a collection inspired by the ethnic environments of Morocco. It tells the story of an individual traveling through Morocco in search of folk religion, and self exploration of the culture. A mixture of the traditional fashions of the land is then mixed with current “street” styles to make the collection more appropriate for modern attire.

    avoid-springsummer2010

Jamool presents an exclusive preview of Avoid’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Included in the editorial pages also are a quick interview from Avoid designers Takayuki Inokawa and Kido Akira. Inspiration for the collection, as the duo mentions isn’t pointed out to one singular theme, but rather a reflection of their drive to build quality items for people to wear. Within the collection also is a series of Hawaii inspired items. Backpacks and shirts bear an Aloha print, that the designers feel is the fun side of their collection.

  • Native Son – Fall 2010 Video Directed by Eric Ray Davidson

    native-son-video

Kyle Fitzgibbons, who has moved on as Band of Otusiders designer to his now Native Son project, presents a video preview of the label’s Fall 2010 Collection. With its recent debut during this New York Fashion Week, the styles seen on the video are rendered in this carefully executed film format. We’re not too sure if 3-D glasses are needed for the full effect, but the vid is definitely worth the look. Suits, blazers, coats, in the collection are nicely form fitted with blacks and greys being predominant in the collection. Everything works well together given the eerie effect of the video that is set within a warehouse.

  • Percival – Autumn/Winter 2010 Video

    Percival-fall2010-main

Chris Gove, Luke Stenzhorn, and Olivia Hegarty are the minds behind new British label, Percival. For their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection, 16 garments were produced in a range that consists of Harris tweed, beeswax cotton from Scotland, chunky lambs wool, and heavyweight Melton from Yorkshire, and fine Portugese cotton melange. As you could already tell, Percival will be one of those labels with a knack for quality materials in their designs. According to Chris as told to the folks from Out With the In Crowd, “From a distance we wanted the collection looks like classic worker wear, but we tried to subvert that idea when you take a closer look and start noticing the polka dot, large plaid and pinstripe linings to various jackets and shirts. We had the idea that the linings would almost be secretive in a boyish and cheeky way – you could choose to show those elements if you roll up a sleeve or leave a jacket open. We are still so childish – always fighting, climbing stuff etc – but then we have to go to work and act serious. So the range was really trying to echo those ideologies.”

With its recent launch, Percival is set to move forward with their collection, and from the looks of the video, we’re sure that those who have been watching closely can’t wait to see everything come into fruition for the brand. Percival should go on sale around August/September. Stay tuned to Percival to know where items can be purchased when released.

  • Rugby – Spring 2010 Collection Video

    rugby-spring2010-vid

Rugby recently released a few images of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Now to go along with those images is this video presentation by RRL. To reflect the styles of the warmer weather, Rugby heads to the shore to put together looks appropriate for the beach, the boardwalk, and for biking. There’s a lot of great looks in the vid for both men and women, but we feel that the men’s styles are the central motivator of the video.

  • Uniform Experiment – “South” Spring/Summer 2010 Lookbook

    uniform-experiment-ss2010-m

Hiroshi’s back at it again with a new collection from his Uniform Experiment line. For Spring/Summer 2010 entitled “South,” Fujiwara presents a stylish collection that evokes the styles of the city, countryside, and beach environments. The looks are very casual with shirts, cardigans, tops, and shorts. The suits in the collection reflect the city life, and can be very much intermixed with the rest of the items in the range. Beach prints, plaids, and golden colors are the standout details in the collection. Overall, Uniform Experiment’s Spring Summer 2010 is probably one of the more versatile collections presented so far.

  • Moncler Grenoble – Fall/Winter 2010 Show and Presentation (With Video)

    moncler-grenoble-main

Grand, epic, awesome, are just some of the words that come to mind when describing Moncler Grenoble’s Fall/Winter 2010 presentation this past Sunday. According to GQ, Grenoble is a new line from Moncler, and what better way to make the introduction than with giant scaffolding structures holding your models in place. Set at Pier 59 at Chelsea Piers, the whole collection was exhibited like toy soldiers on a skeletal display. With the appropriate weather conditions for the show, helicopters hovered around as well to take videos to highlight the entire everything that was going on. Spectators were also treated to a light show that was quite reminiscent of a Christmas light spectacular.

As for the collection, everything was elegant, and very “Moncler.” Parkas with unique structures around the bodies of the wearer were very sculptural and elegant. If there’s any testament to the omnipresence of the label, one should count how many people are wearing their Moncler jackets not only this fashion week, but around this whole season as well.

  • The Local Firm – Autumn/Winter 2010 Show

    local-firm-fall2010

Swedish fashion label, Local Firm combines inspirations from art, architecture, and design. A lot of their influences come from the Bauhaus movement and former Europe’s eastern block. For Fall 2010, we see a lot of the contrast of sophistication and streetwear into the range with long trenches, knits, denim, leather, and more. Bauhaus is thoroughly evident in this collection, as geometric details such as lines and trimmings give off an architectural feel to the pieces.
