Italian designer Roberto Collina is praised for his amazing work with knitwear. For Spring/Summer 2010, the Bologna designer works out a collection complementing a few pieces of his knits. The range is simple with pieces that will be perfect for those who have a an eye and style for minimalism.
Needles channels the 70’s for their Spring/Summer collection. While some might not all be fans of 70’s fashion, Needles however takes some of the best things from the era and gives it that cool Nepenthes touch. Wide bottom cuff pants, flower prints, leisure suits, denim jackets, and more are included in the collection. Like the 70’s, the range is very laid back and at ease. Some of the styles are very vintage, but display a few hints of the modern in the patterns used and various cuts.
The simplicity and elegance Marc Jacobs brings to his Men’s Fall/Winter collection is near perfection. The look is very mature, yet it brings a subtle youthful touch with a range that consists of suits, leather jackets, large knits, and baggy trousers. The color palette is also on the quiet side with various degrees of blacks and greys mixed in with camel and burgundy. We exceptionally like the fit on the one button blazers and the detailing on the leather jackets.

New York Fashion week is upon us at and one of the first men’s collections to roll out is Shipley and Halmos’ Fall/Winter 2010 range. A 2009 winner of the GQ/CFDA Best New Designer Award last year, it’s quite exciting to see what they’ll be bringing to the table this season. For the cooler months, Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos keeps their collection primp and proper with clean lines and subtle detailing. Trimmings are almost none existent, which gives way to its linear and laid back looks.

There’s something both fascinating and intriguing about the construction of Martyn Bal’s outerwear collection for Fall/Winter 2010. The layering, the details, and the mixing of wool with leather sleeves on one of the pieces truly deserves some praise. Blazers, pants, and tops are also mixed in, perfectly balancing out the whole collection. The all black palette is also something to behold, as it gives the range the simplicity it deserves to let the pieces shine on its own.
Loden Dager took inspirations from Central America (specifically Peru) for their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Some details include geometric patterns, slow fade loose shirts, and relaxed blazers and suits. From the lookbook you can see accessories such as woven bracelets, and other handmade adornments signaling their Central American feel. The looks are great for tropical climates, and would work really well with stylish folks headed for a nice warm vacation.
Popular bike clothiers Griffin just released their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. For the season, Griffin looks to mix a lot of their sportswear influences with that of the technical outdoor styles that are appropriate for biking and other activities. It can be left to speculation how much the Olsen Twins are involved in the design process of their Elizabeth and James’ Men collection. With a blend of tie dye shirts alongside plaids, striped shirts, vests, and suits, it’s good enough to know that the Spring/Summer 2010 range is relaxed and appropriate for the season. The suit in the collection looks very comfortable and we also like the combination of the trousers and plaid shirts. The collection gives off a downtown scene rock vibe, which calls for more of a city look.
NY Mag recently sat down with designer Mark McNairy for an in depth interview on the recent launch of his footwear label Mark McNairy New Amsterdam. He also answers a few questions about his favorite designers, current obsessions, and even gives a little bit of fashion advice. Mcnairy, who has also done work with the likes of J. Press and Engineered Garments, exclaims that his plans for the new footwear label (Mark Mcnairy New Amsterdam) is to include brogues, boots, loafers, and bucks — but he’s also expanding into pants, shirts, and ties for spring.
Another Man recently did a video piece on Raf Simon’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection filmed by Pierre Debusscere. The idea of the video is to show the the theme of fragmentation that is present in the range. Coats, suits, and hats are the three parts that are in the collections. “They work as a whole and not on its own,” states Raf Simons. On the other hand, “Pierre Debusschere’s film about the collection plays with the twin ideas of speed and fragmentation.”
It’s kind of ironic for people to buy footwear that’s already been beat up for the sake of style. But if you’re one of those who can appreciate this specific “already beat-up before purchased” model, then you have the options of two colorways. Coming in either blue or beige, these worn-in shoes feature lace up closure and a stylish distressed effect. Available at Matches.
