A new report is suggesting that NBC is in discussions to purchase 24 if Fox doesn’t sign the hit series for another season.
The troubled Peacock is interested in picking up the real-time drama should FOX decide to pull the plug on the show at the end of its current eighth season, Entertainment Weekly has learned. On Wednesday, reports surfaced claiming the FOX is considering axing the series due to declining ratings and spiralling production costs.

Police in Scotland have picked up a Blackburn teenager they believe is responsible for a break-in at the Scottish home of singing star Susan Boyle earlier this year.
“A 16-year-old youth has been arrested and charged in connection with a theft that happened at a property in Yule Terrace, Blackburn, on 26 January,” a spokesman for the local police confirmed to BBC News on Friday.
Boyle, 48, disturbed the young man as she returned home from London after participating in a re-recording of “Everybody Hurts,” a charity single for the victims of the Haitian earthquake.

Neal Horsley, 65, has been held in Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail since Wednesday, when he was collared for posting a highly-inflammatory YouTube rant — titled “Why Elton John Must Die” — in response to Elton’s hot-button comments about Jesus and homosexuality. Horsley was outraged when the singer suggested Jesus Christ was gay in a interview with Parade Magazine last month. Horsley has been charged with one county of making terrorist threats, criminal defamation, and using the Internet to disseminate threats, The Atlanta-Journal Constitution said Thursday.
Flamboyant Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir is getting the cold shoulder from organizers of the “Stars on Ice Tour.” According to a scoop from The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) on Thursday, Weir was allegedly snubbed after being deemed “not family friendly” by the tour’s sponsors.
The three-time US National Champion will not participate in the nation’s only figure skating tour — an occasion that brings out some of ice dancing’s most famous names. Weir, as you may recall, became a figure of controversy for his costumes and outspoken nature at last month’s Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
“Weir’s performance and costume style is sometimes considered flashier than those of other skaters, leading to questions about his perceived sexual orientation. While Weir has not officially announced his sexual orientation, he has garnered a significant amount of LGBT fans. He remains one of the most outspoken skaters today,” GLAAD blogged yesterday.
“Stars on Ice,” however, denies dissing Weir. A rep for the tour insists there’s simply not enough space on the lineup for another skater.
“The current cast of the ‘Stars on Ice’ tour includes very talented performers including the Olympic Gold medalist, Evan Lysacek and the current U.S. National Champion, Jeremy Abbott. “While ‘Stars on Ice’ wishes it could accommodate many more talented skaters as part of our cast, the fact is we cannot sign every skater… be assured that the comments mentioned regarding the ‘Stars on Ice’ tour are simply not accurate,”
A musical based on the life of music legend Ray Charles will open on Broadway this fall, producers announced Thursday. The show, titled Unchain My Heart, will premiere in New York City Nov. 7, with previews beginning Oct. 8. Stuart Benjamin, producer of the 2004 biopic Ray, worked with Charles for 15 years and will produce the show.
An earlier version of the musical called Ray Charles Live was produced at California’s Pasadena Playhouse in 2007.

Metallica sure knows how to rock a crowd: Nearly 170 people were arrested Wednesday night after hundreds of fans tried to break into a Metallica concert in Bogota, Colombia. Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse rioting concertgoers. Members of the nation’s military were on standby ahead of the gig following reports that the band’s show in Santiago, Chile was marred by rioting in January. More than 1,500 officials were organized to patrol the streets around Simon Bolivar Park ahead of Wednesday’s concert. Despite the extra efforts, at least eight people were injured when hundreds of fans without tickets attempted to force their way into the sold out performance.

Former Bachelor contestant Rozlyn Papa is not the woman featured in sex tape being shopped around Hollywood, a porn star has claimed.
On Wednesday, 15-second video debuted on Pornhub.com that featured a Papa lookalike performing oral sex on well-hung adult film Lexington Steele. However, Steele recently stepped forward to ensure Bachelor fanatics that his partner in the X-rated film is not the 29-year-old single mom they know and loathe.
“I feel for Rozlyn, because that is not her. The girl in the video is from the Czech Republic, all of the girls in this release were shot on location in Prague. That girl has never traveled to the United States of America,” Steele told E! Online Thursday.
Papa’s rep has consistently denied that her client is the blonde featured in the footage.

Loud-mouthed NFL star Chad Ochocinco has been tapped to star in his own dating show on VH1.
The father of four will be featured in The Tournament, a new cable docu-soap that will follow the 32-year-old Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver as he searches for a new partner.
“Ochocinco is one of the most electrifying individuals in sports today. His bigger-than-life personality on- and off-the-field and his notorious skills as a social networker, connecting daily with his fans, makes him a perfect fit for VH1,” Executive Vice President of VH1 Jeff Olde said in a statement Thursday. “This show will not only give viewers a look inside his professional life, but also reveal his softer more romantic side when playing a very different kind of game.”
According to VH1, the first episode will follow Chad as he crosses the country meeting 85 women who want to date him. He will then narrow the list down to 16, four women from each of the four regions of the country; East, West, Midwest, South. The remaining women will then embark on a series of odd challenges in a tournament for 85’s heart.
VH1 is already home to a series of reality shows starring C-Level celebs, including Terrell Owens, Fantasia, and Brandy and Ray J Norwood.
The Tournament will premiere on The Celebreality Network in July 2010.
