Former ’80s teen idol Corey Haim was approached by VH1’s Celebrity Rehab and Celebrity Fit Club during the last few weeks of his life.
The 38-year-old Lost Boys star died at a Burbank, California hospital on Wednesday morning after his cancer-stricken mother found the actor unresponsive in their Los Angeles apartment.
While Haim scoffed at the chance to compete on a season of Celebrity Fit Club, TV addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky has opened up about his attempts to persuade the former A&E reality star to get help for his drug problems, which spanned nearly two decades.
Dr. Drew tells In Touch Magazine: “Our producers reached out recently to him but he was angry. People have been reaching out to me about him for years. His name has come up on every season of Celebrity Rehab. Even people on Twitter were contacting me asking me to do something for poor Corey Haim. Well I would have been happy to.”
According to Corey’s agent, Mark Heaslip, the star did have reality plans — he had signed on for a new show about a life coach that would bring his career back. Haim also had other film projects in the works, including a film he was set to direct.

Elisha Cuthbert has been cast the female lead in ABC’s comedy pilot Happy Endings – fueling reports that executives at FOX have decided to end their long-running hit 24 after the current series. Cuthbert is best known for playing Jack Bauer’s daughter on the series.

Natalie Mejia, a member of The Pussycat Dolls sister band Girlicious, was taken into police custody in suburban Los Angeles this week after cops found cocaine in her designer handbag, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Word on the Hot Wire claims there are currently two treatments of the 1939 cinema classic being shopped around Tinseltown.
Originality is dead…along with chivalry and fidelity.
The first is called Oz — housed by New Line Cinemas — it is being produced by Temple Hill, one of the companies behind the immensely-popular Twilight franchise. Darren Lemke, who helped pen Shrek Forever After, has been commissioned by New Line to work on the script. A second script for a possibly new Wizard is also being considered by Warner Bros, which launched the career of Hollywood icon Judy Garland when it released the original film more than 70 years ago.
Not much is known about the plot of either script, but do we really need a crystal ball to see how this travesty would turn out? And I don’t think they can pay anyone enough to put on that ridiculous Cowardly Lion costume…..except maybe Dane Cook or one of The Jonas Brothers.
Hollywood’s already attempted two sequels to the timeless motion picture; the animated Journey Back to Oz in 1974 and one live action update Return to Oz in 1985. Both were critical and commercial failures.

Congrats to Extra host Mario Lopez: The Saved By the Bell alum — who recently adopted a French bulldog — is expecting his first child with girlfriend Courtney Laine Mazza, a Broadway dancer.
“We’re very happy,” the happy couple said in a statement.
The pair met and began dating while working on the Broadway production of A Chorus Line in 2008 — just months after the rumored womanizer split from his former Dancing With The Stars partner Karina Smirnoff.

On Tuesday, FOX announced that the release of Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, the long-awaited sequel to Oliver Stone’s 1987 blockbuster Wall Street, has been delayed. The film — which features Michael Douglas and real-life lovers Shia LaBeouf and Carey Mulligan — was originally slated for release April 23, it will now open in theaters Sept. 24.

Jimmy Fallon has suffered his first on-air injury since he began hosting Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last year. On last night’s show, Fallon challenged guest Chelsea Handler to a martini contest that involved mixing three martinis, running around the studio with them, and then filling beakers with the remainder to see who could salvaged the most drink. Well, while Chelsea managed to race around the studio in sneakers, completing each task without breaking a sweat. But poor Fallon, decked out in dress shoes, took a huge spill on the wet studio floor.

Television icon Bob Barker has donated $2.5 million to controversial animal rights charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). The money was used to open a new PETA office for “youth outreach” in Los Angeles.
Barker — who retired as host of The Price Is Right in 2007 — announced the donation at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the renovated building on Sunset Boulevard in L.A. on Tuesday afternoon, USA TODAY reports.
The 86-year-old preached his spay and neuter message on daytime TV for more than 25 years. In recent months, he’s worked diligently with PETA on a series of animal rights crusades, including an effort to shut down Sea World.
