    Experience:

    • You will have a knowledge of plant characteristics and system performance and be able to demonstrate a capability in calculation of network power flows, short circuits, transient stability and harmonics using industry standard analysis software, including PSS/E or PSS/Viper.

    Your responsibilities would include the following:

    • Development of and providing advice on power system and renewable generation network design
    • Power system analytical studies including load flow, short circuit, transient stability and harmonics to support and validate design proposals for utility, industrial and renewable generation projects
    • Determination and evaluation of proposals for generation network connections at voltage levels from llkV to 400kV
    • Design, assessment/evaluation and optimisation of renewable generation electrical infrastructure.
    • Assessment/evaluation and optimisation of renewable generation electrical system characteristics and performance.
    • Protection grading studies for industrial and renewable generation systems
    • Harmonic assessment and mitigation studies for industrial and renewable generation systems.

    Candidates should possess a relevant qualification, preferably a university degree and/or qualification leading to chartered engineer status and membership of the IET.

    Under the direct supervision of the Associate Program Chair of Environmental Sciences and Policy, the coordinator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to: reviewing applications, hiring and supervising instructors, program promotion and outreach, student advising, and coordination with staff in student and faculty services, online education, marketing and enrollment services.

    The M.S in Energy Policy and Climate is part of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Advanced Academic Programs (AAP). AAP provides part time graduate programs for working professionals. The mission of the new masters program is to prepare the next generation of interdisciplinary professionals to address the challenges of climate change and sustainable energy systems. The program takes a multidisciplinary approach and includes the following knowledge and skills: science related to a changing climate; knowledge of the impacts of climate change, vulnerability of natural systems and the built environment, and methods for adaptation; comprehension of energy production, delivery, and consumption for both traditional systems and sustainable/renewable energy alternatives; management skills for a carbon constrained business environment (carbon management); understanding of policy strategies employed at the local, state, and national level in response to climate change; and knowledge of multilateral agreements and non-US based approaches to both mitigation and adaptation to climate change.

    The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in a field related to energy and climate change. Experience working with energy systems, sustainability planning, climate policy, carbon finance or adaptation planning is a plus. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders in the climate change policy arena is necessary. The coordinator must have prior teaching and advising experience, preferably at the graduate level and be able to teach one of the core courses (Energy Production Technology, Science of Climate Change and its Impact, Climate Change Policy Analysis, Carbon Management and Finance). The Coordinator will also advise students in the masters in Environmental Sciences and Policy. All teaching and administrative duties will be in the masters of Energy Policy and Climate.

    The Coordinator will be expected to expand the student body of the new program and develop additional energy and climate related educational opportunities. S/he must have strong teaching skills. A strong candidate will also have previous supervisory and management experience in an educational environment. The position requires a significant amount of collaborative and team work.

    The General Manager of Nesika Energy LLC is responsible for the general management of all aspects of the ownership and operation of the Nesika Energy ethanol plant located near Scandia, Kansas. The General Manager directs the overall operational and financial performance of the plant and reports to the Nesika Energy LLC Board of Directors. Specific duties include:

    1. Provide for the safe, efficient, and economically viable operation and maintenance of the ethanol plant and associated facilities.

    2. Provide for the profitable financial management of Nesika’s business including budgeting, reporting, cash management, banking interface, debt management and auditing requirements. Meet earnings projections approved by the Board of Directors.

    3. Develop commodity purchasing and sales programs that optimize Nesika’s commodity spreads across the plant and create value added relationships with suppliers and purchasers.

    4. Develop and maintain an active commodities Risk Management Program that optimizes and protects Nesika’s ongoing profitability. Provide for Board of Directors involvement and regular compliance reporting.

    5. Conduct an annual analysis of Nesika’s business and provide the Board with an assessment including strategy and operating plan, annual objectives, annual budget and cash flow projections, all capital requirements, and recommended courses of action for Nesika’s long term viability.

    6. Hire, motivate and maintain an employee workforce that will advance Nesika’s long term viability.

    7. Develop and maintain Employee and Environmental Safety programs for Nesika.

    8. Manage Nesika’s public, regulatory, and community interfaces to provide beneficial relationships for Nesika.

    9. Develop protocol for an active and effective interface with Nesika’s Board for ongoing as-needed communications and actions as well as regularly scheduled Board activity.

    10. Conduct other business for Nesika as directed by the Board.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

    High school diploma required
    Bachelor degree in Business, Operations, Engineering or related discipline preferred

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    7-10 years experience in ethanol plant production (preferably dry-grind), industrial process operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience in processing required
    Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements
    Previous supervisory experience required

    RENEWABLES ENGINEER

    You will have project management responsibilities as well as assist in business development and
    * will provide technical strength in solar PV technologies being situated in the South East office.
    * will be required to conduct feasibility studies, and present renewable energy strategies.
    * manage renewable energy contracts, liaising with internal and external subcontractors, third parties and clients.
    * measure risk management and contractual requirements for main contractor project managing the construction of GSHP, Wind, PV and Solar thermal project delivery.
    * carry out analysis of the scope, technical and financial feasibility studies for a range of renewable energy sources including wind, biomass, solar heating, PV, Gas – CHP and ground source heat pumps.
    * complete wind resource assessments and energy yield calculations using Carbon Trust Wind tool assessment and power curve data from wind turbine manufacturers.

    KEY ATTRIBUTES
    * MSc, preferably in a renewable energy discipline
    * An excellent understanding of consultancy services is desirable
    * Demonstrable experience in working with Solar Thermal technologies
    * Case studies having covered PV village electrification, PV Pumping, Wind energy, Solar Thermal, and Hydro.
    * Previous experience working for a consultancy specialising in Renewable Energy is essential for this position.

    SOFTWARE ENGINEER (Controls)

    A fantastic opportunity for C / C++ software engineers with knowledge of embedded systems to join a global leader in renewable energy technology, as Control System Software Engineer, based in Bristol, South West England.

    This new role works within a high calibre multi-disciplinary team both on active projects and in developing leading edge prototype renewable energy devices, planning the future technology path for this exciting industry.

    You will be responsible for designing, developing and testing complex control software for marine and wind turbine systems using C and C++.

    This role offers you the chance to travel across Europe, Asia and the USA for 4-6 weeks per year (1 week at a time) working on client projects; the rest of the time will be spent working as part of the UK-based  team.

    In order to apply you will hold a 2:1 minimum degree in engineering, computer science, maths or physics and you should have proven commercial experience developing software applications using C and C++, as well as some experience working with embedded or real-time systems using embedded C.

    You should have a general understanding of object-oriented design and development as well as lower level programming; data analysis skills such as frequency domain analysis are also required.     Overview

    Work Experience/ Education Requirments
